for some reason i followed every step, the material looks great in the preview on the sphere, but when i apply it to my model, it just shows up as a basic metallic texture and doesn't show any of the detail, it just looks like a default placeholder metallic texture. Any idea how to fix it?
NOTE: when you are bulk edit via property matrix and the window is empty, press WINDOW on the top bar and enable grid if it isnt there, i was confused for a long time because my property matrix was empty
Hello man! I have a problem that my mesh is made from a lot of different parts. It is a car, so there are the material of the painting, tires, glass and so one, so I have lots of different textures but when I import it it comes as a single mesh so when i apply the material it applies in the whole car. Do you know how to import the parts in a way that i can put the materials separately?
But how to reimport the mesh after any changes? Deleting and reimporting it is the only way? I'd like to reimport the file with having to change its location and UE materials every time...
Normal maps aren't color information either (it's using the color channels but not for color information,) so that should also be set to not sRGB. Excellent video :)
Hey so I just had a question- I'm teaching myself UE5, and while I do have years experience in Maya, almost none in UE. And so what i'm trying to do is import a double barrel shotgun into UE5, one I made in Maya. The shotgun is 2 groups, Group1 and Group2. Group1 is the ENTIRE gun, every little piece and part, and contains Group2. While Group2 is just the front and barrels. Group2 (being the front and barrels) is meant for when the gun reloads and "snaps" open to insert ammo. I want to import the gun and it seems the way to go is to select import at the very top, followed by "import as dynamic." My question, albeit odd, is this: why do I see no one talking about that specific option for importing meshes with groups? That and the import at the top left (I believe under "file") NOT the import on the content folder. Unless i'm just missing it the content folder import doesn't give me the import as dynamic option. It's admittedly made me kinda neurotic as to maybe I'm actually doing something wrong? I'd just appreciate some clarity, since i'm learning on own it's little hiccups like this that are the most confusing lol
I'm going to import separate meshes. They had been built on epic skeleton, should I choose my skeleton with additional bones or sk_mannequin? I ask because after I imported I can't scale hand and boots meshes for using them combined. They stay curved. Maybe another solution?
Dude this is such a good tutorial I have watched so many on this topic and nobody has explained it so well.
Earned a sub great job thanks alot!

Good catch! That happens automatically when you import normal maps. Or it should. You’ll notice a notification pop up as you import them if it works.
I would like to load the textures upon import.
is it possible to change the color within ue5
are you guys able to make a house model
Very usefull, thanks!
wow, what a name you have chosen
Thanks SO MUCH for this tutorial !!
I have a question : for multi_UDIM, it's the same way ?
