Come on. AI is here to take care of every creative, funny and mind-fulfilling activity so people can have more time for tedious, boring, mind-numbing, uninspiring and energy draining "assembly line" work.
Exactly. People don't realize how even more unoptimized things will get if you leave everything to AI, like, i wonder how messy the topology is on this generated model, and the same can be said to coding generate by Copilot for example. Also, most AI pipelines nowadays that are somewhat decent still need a human hand and understanding of what you're doing to not just let things fall apart with time. Not to mention, more and more generic looking stuff once you take the creative part and leave it to robots. In summary, people that complain that games are being released unfinished and full of bugs, and still support this kind of development based in AI, are just ignorant hypocrites.
@@veyghard3217 You can see how "messy" the topology is and it's not that messy. I've seen much worse in production. Same for code. The typical code running the entire world is absolutely dogshit. From websites to games to apps, a lot of it is just spaghetti code squeezed out of underpaid and overworked code monkeys. So, it's not really an issue that "people don't realize" how bad AI is because they don't realize how bad people already are.
Awesome video! Just a word of warning for anyone using these assets in a commercial setting. The licensing is not permissive for such purposes. But for fun and shareware have fun I know I will give it a play!
This is a great tutorial! So chill and casual and interesting! Ai is coming so far its unbelievable how you can make a 3d model + texture in literal minutes 😱
Reducing the barrier of entry with AI tools so expensive it's cheaper to actually do it yourself! The technology itself is really impressive and fascinating to learn more about. I could see this being used for quick mockups or temporary assets during early stages of game development, but definitely NOT the final product. The process of making assets (or art in general) is just as important as the final result, and prompting a few words/sentences skips all of this. I can see executives seeing this as a chance to layoff more artists to cut costs, which is a bit unfortunate. I'm also curious about the training data for these generative models. These tools require LOTS of training data, and I wonder how much of it, if any at all, is ethically trained.
True, established studios wouldn't even look at AI stuff, so more or less obviously the target market are less skilled, with less time developers. The only sad thing is, when they're out of beta and after honeymoon phase, they'll be all paid with 2-digit per month sub or X number of tries, then you'll come looking for another similar service that's in beta test or in generous phase.
@@MangaGamified yeah its what people dont get. AAA studios use premade meshes, animations and blueprints for their new games, they almost never start from zero. This is not a magic solution, also people seem to forget we have photogrmetry for many years, which recreates an object from an image{albeit a more tedious} but more accurate.
Curious to see if/when one of the major engine developers will integrate this tech directly into their engines. Unreal specifically seems perfectly positioned to incorporate this sort of AI tech into their engine, imo, especially now that it’s actually getting good.
What would make things even better is if we could use AI to rig the 3D model. The rigging we create with AI should be easily editable, so we can correct any mistakes or imperfections.
4:58 It would be useful if there was some kind of inpainting, so you can select the area that you want to change and tell the AI to fix that part of the tail which is attached to the leg.
I actually gave this a try myself. I took a screenshot of an old model I made a few years ago that's pretty simple, nothing too complex, and the AI did technically remake it, but upon further examination it was obvious it used too many polygons, the topology was a mess, and it seemed like if you wanted to make any kind of adjustments it would be faster to just remake that model from scratch. The AI's model looked like a sculpted model that got poorly auto-converted into polys. I will say, it's impressive that we've gotten this far, but what I REALLY want to see is AI helping with topology issues, fixing up UVs, and the big grand daddy of difficulties, rigging!! I think that AI has it's place as a tool, NOT a replacement of our creativity. I'm shocked we still have so few tools specifically designed to help artists that don't try to throw them out of the way.

its not pointless. You will need to know how to fix and tweak things on your own. It will never be as perfect as what you envision in your head, or maybe it will, I guess that depends on what you want the end result to be. Alright I'm going deep: I think there is a "threshold" at some point with making these tools more accessible. On one hand, I don't agree with anti AI purists and I think it's great to make faster pipelines. But on the other hand, I see a lot of tech companies making the same mistake companies were making in the 90s; namely, not everyone wants to make video games! The vast majority of people just want to play them. It's actually a pretty small market of those of us who want to make these games, and we also happen to be often the same ones who are tight with our money. So, on one hand I think we should keep building up the development community and making it easier for us to create the best games. But on the other hand, let's not be fooled into thinking the average person is gonna want to even "conceive" their own holodeck experience, would we ever even get there. The crew of the Enterprise were all military personnel, after all, not representing the average tech consumer!
Having said this, if it were possible to get to the point where AI generates these 3D models with "logically created" topology (game ready, correctly weighted etc), I would probably use it more. I like the janky style of the AI models I've seen and they're fun to animate with, but they are about as good at replacing artists as Midjourney (love Midjourney btw, not saying it isn't good AI!). Much like Midjourney, Rodin et al make especially great reference objects for beginners like me to get inspired.
This is perfect for hobbyist who aren't interested in actually persuing a career in 3d industry. I think it's great anyone can have a bit of fun at home.
Now that everyone can do it, everyone will do it...and here comes the flood of crap...you have to find the soul of the Artist to make something unique and new.
You've always needed the soul of the artist. The situation hasn't changed. When only a few people could draw, they were praised as gods.... Then people found out that drawing can be learnt, and more people learnt, and them every 3 seconds scrolling art sites, you find amazing pieces by different people. Then ai came, and it was cool, then everyone started using it, and every 3 seconds scrolling, you find nice looking AI images. Despite all this, there's always those few pieces that really resonate.... Even with ai images. The situation hasn't changed
@@presto_the_editorwords can never describe in detail what our minds can capture. AI still needs time before it can cram out art with the same intent our minds set. What AI is now is not a form of expression but a tool to milk the creative industry without giving back.
@@jonathan10007 even so, the situation hasn't changed. As an artist, I don't particularly need ai. But as a creative, it is pretty helpful in outlining stuff. I'm not saying it's the way to go, just offering solace in the fact that it's always been the same. This 3d technology is good tho. It'll be very helpful for indie Devs. And by allowing everyone to create top tier stuff, we can truly see the individual worth of the idea itself. That'll make people have to try in order to stand out..... Soo, basically the same as before. The situation hasn't changed
this is amazing, i'm a 3d artist and im saying it, people need to understand all of this is a tool to be used and to help an artist. its not going to replace anyone, if anything it just speeds up the pipeline and should be enjoyed!

And dont worry, i could not afford one before ai so yeah 😂 a sure win situation for the hobbyist gamedev.
I love using nomad sculpt to really make it original before taking it into blender
This is perfect for hobbyist who aren't interested in actually persuing a career in 3d industry. I think it's great anyone can have a bit of fun at home.

Dont worry. There is a huge huge different between good and bad topologie. Ai will never make perfect Topologie
ha ha don't bet on that
Well its not hard to retopo a character.
Unfortunately most people don’t either

You get it…
Resistance is futile 😂
this is amazing, i'm a 3d artist and im saying it, people need to understand all of this is a tool to be used and to help an artist. its not going to replace anyone, if anything it just speeds up the pipeline and should be enjoyed!
If it speeds the pipeline you need less workers to do the same. Dont you really get it?
