Drunken Concubine and Diva Dance is really amazing, he performs with a male opera singer from China who actually sings the women parts, which is traditional for Chinese Opera from what I understand, incredible performance and a very short clip of Diva Dance from the Bastau concert, a little over a minute. In China, it was a competition for recognized and award-winning singers. It lasted twelve weeks. The principle was to sing other people's songs, but they had to be interpreted differently than in the original. Once or twice you could sing your song. I'm not sure. Dimash was as a wild card and was thought to be out quickly. It was a program at the highest level, songs were not shortened, everyone was free to perform the whole thing. The judges were the audience selected so that everyone knew music and vocal technique. Every week someone dropped out and someone else came in. Dimash has reached the end.
Just a couple of notes. First, Dimash started the song in Chinese, then switched to Italian.So cool! Second, as impressive as Dimash is he will never be able to truly sing the Diva Dance as some small parts are a computerized mash up of sounds. But, he does come as close as I think a human can. Lastly, this version is good, but I think the Bastau performance of this song is the very best! He does a few more intricate runs in that one.
Dimash was INVITED to join this competition between well established proffessional singers. So not really like the voice xfactor etc. Yes an official Chinese countries competion, at that point in time therecwud b no way a foreigner cud win. The following year they changed that rule. So for Dimash the win was as u said , the show launched his international career across the world. He already had a very prestigious career in his own country and those around it. His homeland is Kazakhstan. Last year 2022 he qualified for his Docofate of Nusic plus he holds several degrees of other genres too.

So many performances to watch. Dimash was perfect in 2017 and unbelievably just got better and better every year thereafter. He was 22 years old during the Singer competition. He is now 28 years old and has not yet hit his peak. His voice is richer and thicker and even more velvety. His Singer performances were fabulous but mostly covers of world hits. His hit original singles in China are gorgeous. His collaborations with composer Igor Krutoy in Russia are fabulous. Dimash makes any language sound beautiful and that's hard to do with Russian. His Kazakh songs are gorgeous. So check out his UA-cam channel and watch everything. The Concerts will give you a much better idea of Dimash's many facets and personality. He is much more relaxed with his Dears.

I love this performance (although IMHO he goes a little bit sharp on some of the notes), but I also agree with other comments that the Diva Dance from the Bastau concert is better. He never sings the same song the same way twice - he always adds some little something that makes your brain explode and it's the same with the Bastau version. He completely nails it, it's even better than the original and he has a powerful attitude on stage that I like too. I'd be very happy to see you react to it! Meanwhile there's plenty more Dimash to choose from. Take your pick, they're all amazing and you'll never be disappointed!!

И лучше бы посмотреть вариант песни Дива Дэнс на концерте БАСТАУ (на казахском языке означает "Начало" - в смысле как бы точка отсчёта начала мировой карьеры Димаша). И вообще, лучше посмотрите весь концерт Бастау. И ещё, Димаш всегда поёт вживую, не использует фонограмму, на всех репетициях перед выступлениями он поёт как будто это настоящий концерт. Есть так масса аудиозаписей песен Димаша, когда он был подростком, ребёнком в 13-14 лет, к сожалению, самого видео нет (друзья и родные Димаша записывали), но фанаты Димаша создают собственные видео с голосом Димаша. You should watch Drunken Concubine, where Dimash sings a duet with a Chinese male singer Li who specialises in female opera parts. They incorporate Diva Dance in that song. Dimash does both vocal fry and whistle tone in that performance. It is such fun.

Who else but Dimash could fall to his knees whilst singing, passionately thump his fists on the stage, and clutch his brow 'in extremis' and not look OTT?! But with him we all go... "Yeah! That's exactly RIGHT! Give us MORE! " and he does. 😆 As for Diva Dance, I understand most was provided by a fm opera star, but some parts she could not do, or not do in such fast transitions, and so it was sectioned up and then put together electronically. Because of this it was believed that no human could sing this. But I guess they didn't anticipate a next level artist like Dimash !🤣 The Chinese Singer competition is a little different from AGT or The Voice, as it is by invitation only to established Artists and the audience are all Industry Professionals (Ie; hard to impress!}. HUGE Protests broke out by MILLIONS of Chinese fans {Dear's} when he didn't win. The shows producers came out and 'explained' that they'd only invited him on a a courtesy nod to their Kazakh neighbours and hadn't really expected him to get anywhere near the top and that the winner 'had to be' a Chinese Citizen. For some strange reason this only fanned the flames of fury even higher! The Chinese 'twitterfest' fell over for a time - with all the screaming. The Chinese & Kazakhstan Govt's then rushed out a 'solution' which was to create a new Title for Dimash. He was now designated the 'Kazakh / Chinese Cultural Ambassador' - which he still is today, and he often goes to China and performs there to his many dedicated fans. meanwhile you can still find plenty of Chinese fans who remain annoyed about this 'injustice'. The following year; in 2018, the Show changed their rules' about this and the fabulous UK artist; Jesse J came on and won it. 😅

I can vouch for his perfect pronunciation in Italian(the start, few lines, was in Chinese, for his Chinese audience).And yay Diva Dance ! So glad you love it- try find the Bastau concert version, 1 min 20 or so of pure crazy vocals from Dimash. And try 'Stranger'. 'Across Endless Dimensions', 'Ave Maria' (cannot wait for those).
I reacted late to this so they would have told you about his dad, etc. This is a cover by the Russia singer Vitas, who did not want Dimash to sing his song at this competition. Dimash does 4 key changes as opposed to itas who only does 2. Yes, he rays. I don't recall you doing a non live performance like a studio setting (Ikanaide) or a music video (Be With Me - pop and rap) or a movie soundtrack (Across Endless Dimensions - he wears a white jacket with black veins).

Love your well researched reactions! Was a Celentano fan in my very young years. Dimash does a great job on this song. Generally he shows great taste and wisdom in choosing his covers - and then makes them his own creations. Actually, Celentano’s version is almost dispassionate, much longer and monotone by comparison.
It was actually in the rules of the show is what I heard. They were so impressed with Dimash, the changed the rules after that season and the very next year the invited foreign guest singer was Jesse J and she won!
You really should do a double reaction with the Diva Dance from the Bastau concert (it is short) and The Diva Dance + Drunken Concubine with Li Yugang. It is fantastic. Both are. He sung those a little higher than this version in the I am singer competition and in the duet with Li he hits a whistle note, perfectly placed and gorgeous, in the middle of the song.

No, it's not the same. This show/competition is strictly by invitation only to professional singers.....not for amateurs as The Voice and AGT. All competitors on that show are professional singers who have won at least a professional singing award.

It's a contest between established singers, Dimash was the youngest at 22,and the only foreigner invited as a wildcard, he came 2nd overall in this 14 episode contest. He did not win bot won the hearts of Chinese audience and gained global fame♥️

In China, it was a competition for recognized and award-winning singers. It lasted twelve weeks. The principle was to sing other people's songs, but they had to be interpreted differently than in the original. Once or twice you could sing your song. I'm not sure. Dimash was as a wild card and was thought to be out quickly. It was a program at the highest level, songs were not shortened, everyone was free to perform the whole thing. The judges were the audience selected so that everyone knew music and vocal technique. Every week someone dropped out and someone else came in. Dimash has reached the end.
Just a couple of notes. First, Dimash started the song in Chinese, then switched to Italian.So cool! Second, as impressive as Dimash is he will never be able to truly sing the Diva Dance as some small parts are a computerized mash up of sounds. But, he does come as close as I think a human can. Lastly, this version is good, but I think the Bastau performance of this song is the very best! He does a few more intricate runs in that one.

Dimash was INVITED to join this competition between well established proffessional singers. So not really like the voice xfactor etc.
Yes an official Chinese countries competion, at that point in time therecwud b no way a foreigner cud win. The following year they changed that rule. So for Dimash the win was as u said , the show launched his international career across the world.
He already had a very prestigious career in his own country and those around it. His homeland is Kazakhstan. Last year 2022 he qualified for his Docofate of Nusic plus he holds several degrees of other genres too.

Oh dang it, I was worried you’d watch this version. The Diva Dance at Bastau is far better IMO
So many performances to watch. Dimash was perfect in 2017 and unbelievably just got better and better every year thereafter. He was 22 years old during the Singer competition. He is now 28 years old and has not yet hit his peak. His voice is richer and thicker and even more velvety. His Singer performances were fabulous but mostly covers of world hits. His hit original singles in China are gorgeous. His collaborations with composer Igor Krutoy in Russia are fabulous. Dimash makes any language sound beautiful and that's hard to do with Russian. His Kazakh songs are gorgeous. So check out his UA-cam channel and watch everything. The Concerts will give you a much better idea of Dimash's many facets and personality. He is much more relaxed with his Dears.

Thanks for such a great reaction! I love this performance (although IMHO he goes a little bit sharp on some of the notes), but I also agree with other comments that the Diva Dance from the Bastau concert is better. He never sings the same song the same way twice - he always adds some little something that makes your brain explode and it's the same with the Bastau version. He completely nails it, it's even better than the original and he has a powerful attitude on stage that I like too. I'd be very happy to see you react to it! Meanwhile there's plenty more Dimash to choose from. Take your pick, they're all amazing and you'll never be disappointed!!

Необходимо Вам, посмотреть все 14 эпизодов конкурса в Китае (они СУМАШЕДШИЕ!!!! в хорошем смысле этого слова!!!).
И лучше бы посмотреть вариант песни Дива Дэнс на концерте БАСТАУ (на казахском языке означает "Начало" - в смысле как бы точка отсчёта начала мировой карьеры Димаша). И вообще, лучше посмотрите весь концерт Бастау.
И ещё, Димаш всегда поёт вживую, не использует фонограмму, на всех репетициях перед выступлениями он поёт как будто это настоящий концерт.
Есть так масса аудиозаписей песен Димаша, когда он был подростком, ребёнком в 13-14 лет, к сожалению, самого видео нет (друзья и родные Димаша записывали), но фанаты Димаша создают собственные видео с голосом Димаша. Так волшебно слушать детский голос Димаша!!!

You should watch Drunken Concubine, where Dimash sings a duet with a Chinese male singer Li who specialises in female opera parts. They incorporate Diva Dance in that song. Dimash does both vocal fry and whistle tone in that performance. It is such fun.

The short version less than 2 minutes long, was on his 1st solo concert @Bastau 2017, and the duet version with Li Yugang, Drunken Concubine + Diva Dance @Shanghai Gala Festival 2020. You can watch and react by combining them together in one go.

Each note in the movie The 5th Element had to be recorded INDIVIDUALLY for Diva Dance. No one could sing it as a full piece. No one had the control that Dimash does.

The Singer is a competition but the performers are all well established artist. Dimash was known back in his home country but was a newbie to the Chinese audience. I would compare it to the Korean program Imortal Songs.
A foreigner is allowed to participate in this Chinese competition, but cannot win. However, that competition made him famous. Thanks for Dimash. His voice is truly angelic. Listen to the song Stranger and then Ave Maria. I believe that if you are open to music, it will touch you in the very core of your soul. I wish you beautiful moments with Dimash. Months of grueling field eliminations to get to the final 13 televised weeks of brutal eliminations and at 22 ran it all the way to the end. 600,000 calls crashed Hunan TV's system when he left the stage after his 1st appearance !

Who else but Dimash could fall to his knees whilst singing, passionately thump his fists on the stage, and clutch his brow 'in extremis' and not look OTT?! But with him we all go... "Yeah! That's exactly RIGHT! Give us MORE! " and he does. 😆
As for Diva Dance, I understand most was provided by a fm opera star, but some parts she could not do, or not do in such fast transitions, and so it was sectioned up and then put together electronically. Because of this it was believed that no human could sing this. But I guess they didn't anticipate a next level artist like Dimash !🤣
The Chinese Singer competition is a little different from AGT or The Voice, as it is by invitation only to established Artists and the audience are all Industry Professionals (Ie; hard to impress!}. HUGE Protests broke out by MILLIONS of Chinese fans {Dear's} when he didn't win. The shows producers came out and 'explained' that they'd only invited him on a a courtesy nod to their Kazakh neighbours and hadn't really expected him to get anywhere near the top and that the winner 'had to be' a Chinese Citizen. For some strange reason this only fanned the flames of fury even higher! The Chinese 'twitterfest' fell over for a time - with all the screaming. The Chinese & Kazakhstan Govt's then rushed out a 'solution' which was to create a new Title for Dimash. He was now designated the 'Kazakh / Chinese Cultural Ambassador' - which he still is today, and he often goes to China and performs there to his many dedicated fans. meanwhile you can still find plenty of Chinese fans who remain annoyed about this 'injustice'. The following year; in 2018, the Show changed their rules' about this and the fabulous UK artist; Jesse J came on and won it. 😅

First part is Confessa by Adriano Celentano- a very famous song (and singer )from Italy. I can vouch for his perfect pronunciation in Italian(the start, few lines, was in Chinese, for his Chinese audience).And yay Diva Dance ! So glad you love it- try find the Bastau concert version, 1 min 20 or so of pure crazy vocals from Dimash. And try 'Stranger'. 'Across Endless Dimensions', 'Ave Maria' (cannot wait for those).
I reacted late to this so they would have told you about his dad, etc. This is a cover by the Russia singer Vitas, who did not want Dimash to sing his song at this competition. Dimash does 4 key changes as opposed to itas who only does 2. Yes, he rays. I don't recall you doing a non live performance like a studio setting (Ikanaide) or a music video (Be With Me - pop and rap) or a movie soundtrack (Across Endless Dimensions - he wears a white jacket with black veins).

Love your well researched reactions! Was a Celentano fan in my very young years. Dimash does a great job on this song. Generally he shows great taste and wisdom in choosing his covers - and then makes them his own creations. Actually, Celentano’s version is almost dispassionate, much longer and monotone by comparison.

You really should do a double reaction with the Diva Dance from the Bastau concert (it is short) and The Diva Dance + Drunken Concubine with Li Yugang. It is fantastic. Both are. He sung those a little higher than this version in the I am singer competition and in the duet with Li he hits a whistle note, perfectly placed and gorgeous, in the middle of the song.

Dimash was not a contestant but a guest. That's why they couldn't give him the prize.But he certainly blew all contestants out of the water. These performances at this chinese competition is what launched his career, becoming an overnight sensation!

No, it's not the same. This show/competition is strictly by invitation only to professional singers.....not for amateurs as The Voice and AGT. All competitors on that show are professional singers who have won at least a professional singing award.
