That must really feel good to have approval from such a high up government department for an interview on your show. Well deserved Jack. Keep up the great work.
I imagine the marines subbranch of US cyber command (marforcyber) as a basement office near the boiler room in the pentagon, filled with a bunch of gigachads chewing on crayons, typing aggressively into vim/emacs.

Ha! I love your story-tailored sign-offs. I just found this channel a little while ago, and I am HOOKED! Such a fantastic niche. I've yet to hear anyone else in this space at all, let alone able to weave this topic/genre for an hour+ in such a gripping and entertaining way. I salute you, Cadet Rhysider.

ISIS was the Syrian Rebels that was armed and trained under the Obama Administration and David Cameron. They became ISIS and ISIL after training, went around killing other Muslims not American , Muslims killing Muslims. Where is these retards when the ideology of Israel launches genocide on Palestine. No where why because these people where trained and allowed to grow under USA NATO and MOSSAD. Simple why elese would muslims from all over the world go join to kill other Muslims but not Israel or the USA that has been occupying and raping their lands? Does not take a genius to figure this out. BTW I do not like ISIS fuck em
Just recently found this channel and it's made me interested in cyber security because I want to know how to protect myself better from random bad people online
ISIS is surprisingly advanced on the cyber security front, they've written their own Tor op-sec guide. And honestly that scares me, it drives home that the beheadings and things like that are also pretty advanced psy-ops. Worse, knowing the nature of proxy warfare they're invariably trained by global leaders in these areas. Big yikes from me Jack
I normally listen to new episodes as soon as they are released, but I have a 4 hour flight tomorrow so I will save it till tomorrow. I'm sure I'll be thinking about it all day it'll be a hard thing to wait for.
Your podcast has consumed my life. Someone told me about it on bumble bff 2 weeks ago and it's been playing since. I have only 2 years in IT, mostly Linux, so a lot of this is new to me. But I'm hooked! I'm looking for cyber security conferences to attend near me now!
this is unbelievable. how was this vet able to share this information?! surely this information is either unclassified or completely general - to him - but it feels specific AF. wow.
It is either unclassified or general knowledge. Anyone who gets a Top Secret security clearance is under an NDA for life. And befor he can even talk to people or release knowledge he is supposed to go through a PR person to make sure none of it will land him in Ft Leavenworth
I missed my place in life. Every time I hear one of these stories, I wish I had taken a different path after highschool. Life just got in the way and I never got to continue to learn about cyber security.
Great video! I think the NSA is necessary, we just need better checks and balances to assure that they're not conducting operations against the American people without a warrant.
The problem is civilians suffer from the blowback US agencies cause, such as arming and training the Mujahideen which led to Osama plotting sept.11.. We had agencies screwing around in Angola, Nicaragua, Chile...Syria alone has multiple engagements funded by various agencies and these rebel factions end up fighting each other.
I dig the Symphony terminology mission name. Based on the outright requirement of cohesive collaboration between each individual for mission success, and dependence that just one or two of the key parts out of the total massive group does not drop the ball, it totally makes sense. However, I'd go with Gallant Symphony before glowing. Makes so much more sense.
Niche topic to be interested in, lazy, uninterested, treacherous state puppets for control of narrative we pretend are journos, then pretend the opposite is closer to true isn't usually the case. They dont cover a lot of stuff you'd think we may wanna hear. Also, being on call 24/7 reciting horrific propaganda is prob exhausting. Stelter, those poor unlucky bastards, they had to look at stelter, even speak to him like he wasn't a barnyard animal, rough man.
Thanks Jack, always delivering the best conversations with the most interesting people. Always entertaining and informative.. Thank you commander, ser for your amazing work and sharing your story. And team, and governments for protecting our people!
Somewhere around 35,000 hours behind the terminal, I remembered the recruiter telling me I got the max score on the ASVAB but only offered mechanic jobs, and then I realized that I would do this work for cheap and for anyone who gives a regular paycheck and I expect most of the glowies simply haven't had the time to put in the time. I don't have a lot of confidence in their cyber capabilities. Looking for steady work. No questions asked.
I just started listening to this episode, but it reminded me of something I read about before concerning how the military ran ops creating radical islam entrapment message boards for middle east internet, as well as the first meme war on their social media to create the kind of division there we see now in our own cultural and political landscapes
I get the feeling this was a training mission, there was no big risk of detection and having a superviser on hand with all the answers sure was convenient, they called it glowing for a reason
This was one of the coolest episodes and after hearing the whole segment it just tells you to that whatever you wanna do, never fuck with the USA in terms of security. They will genuinely keep coming after you like a crazy ex!!
You can’t understand anything about Iraq without the US led attack on Iraq in 2003 or how the CIA helped Saddam stay in power in the ~1980s. Consider for example the proportion of Fallujah that fled Fallujah before the two US attacks on the city. US/friends behaved as bad as ISIS in Fallujah. As well as the CIA you probably also need to consider the British Empire and maybe the Ottoman Empire before that. Essentially Mosul has been attacked by outside forces for at least a century. If Mosul had been mostly populated by the ethnic group the US was cleansing they’d probably have attacked it like they did Fallujah. Anyone who thinks ISIS is worse than the US Military should look at some photos of Fallujah, which were largely hidden on western media. Try Al Jazeera for example.
TO THINK a whole US GOVERNMENT CYBERSECURITY OPPERATION was momentarily haulted by a “whats your pets name” capcha is f****ng hallarious

Imagine US Cyber Command choose their operation name after taking inspiration from some little known best-programmer-in-the-world personal slang.
Congrats and good job getting access and approval to this commander. Well done, one of the best ones you've done yet.
The sound design on the operation, and that pet name part with the music was amazing. Really immersive, felt like was part of the operation.
Amazing. You just keep raising the bar and pushing the limits. Bravo.
