    Yes! Very helpful to know all about the feet and their role in this art form!
    Hats off the last point too; it is absolutely important to emphasize how much it means to have fun when you are dancing. Before I started dancing last month, I have to admit that I was misguided. Even though I have always had a massive appreciation for dance, when I daydreamed about doing it, I feel like I was overly preoccupied with it being a means of attracting the opposite sex. I'm actually quite embarrassed at having such a juvenile mentality. That's not to say that I won't end up getting butterflies after being complimented by a cute girl on the floor, but as you can imagine, I realize now that dancing is so much more than that. I'm eternally grateful to you and Tytus for giving me this newfound passion for dance that is not fueled by any shallow ulterior motives, but by genuine love for it as an artistic expression :)

    Love your videos and all tutorials. I appreciate that you show both leader and follower foot works, from front and side views. Explain in details, emphsize the techniques, and offer variations of different step. Love love😍 this exercise and the one for Rumba Walks exercise are so fundamental and important to the dancers. I have been taking private latin classes and dancing 💃 for 3 years, yet I didn't get these information and training during my Latin Dance Classes. Now I understand why and how to build strength 💪 in my feet and ankles, how to place my foot works, body weights. Along with all the other videos you posted, you guys have been helping me a lot. Clarke.and.Coffee yay. 👍🏼 Yes.. will add those ideas for arms for lat exercises to our list. Any other suggestions for things that can help you?
      Re: your hip twists: Our bodies are often different on both sides... Like some people are much better spinners to one direction, or have a more flexible/ strong side. I would definitely suggest practicing the other side as well, maybe even a little more 😉 since it's asking for a little more attention.

    I am 46 year old woman, have danced for over 8 years. I really want to have stretched feet (? sorry for my english) and make beautiful leg line. But I cannot make good line because of bad flexibility. If I keep practicing this footwork, can I really have good leg line and beautiful footwork? Sometimes I feel pain around my big toe and have to stop practicing. When I feel pain on my feet, is it right to stop practicing?
    I am glad to watch this video today, and going to try footwork everyday.
    I am big fan of yours from south Korea. Thank you.

    • @DanceInsanity
      @DanceInsanity  5 років тому +7

      강민정 hello there! Lots of good questions. Having "stretched" feet / more flexibility and strength in the feet and ankles are definitely things that you can train for. That's how I did it and also helped my students do the same. So, you can do it too!
      When you feel pain in your foot, it's always a good idea to rest it and stop practicing. That's what I do too. I would also do stretches and Epsom salt soaks to help relieve the muscles around the feet and ankles. These often help me so you can try as well. Have you tried toe separators??
      What kind of shoes do you practice in? And for what styles?
      Practice daily is great but just listen to your body. Any other questions, I'm happy to help. 😊😍

    • @tytusbergstrom
      @tytusbergstrom 5 років тому +7

      agreed, pain means stop. one note: some really good dancers in Latin don't have much of arch in there foot, but they still "use" the foot, i.e. work through the foot to create power, so the leg line can still be awesome without much flexibility
