I love how you show the steps clearly which are easy to understand straight to the point without long lecture which could be lost in translation. Especially, you show them without facing us so we won't be confused by trying to figure out your right being our left, your left being our right. Big thanks to both of you ❤❤
Really good stuff. I don't have a partner, but I've learnt so much from both of you because you are so supportive and fun. Better than all the other beginner videos out there. If I have more thumbs, I'd certainly put them up.
Props for that emphasis on "follower" Liwen! It's important to keep in mind and remind that danse roles are gender(/sex) free! and that everyone can danse with everyone and change role if they feel like it! I really appreciated that!
@AliasWalen right on! Anyone can dance with anyone. 🙌🏼 It's also fun to change roles and experience having the "shoe on the other foot". It makes us appreciate what our partner needs to do (and not do)! 😉
Dance roles are traditionally not gender free. This is a very recent development in line with the war on masculinity and the decline of society into madness and degeneration.

Hi Tytus and Liwen, Thank you very much for this wonderfully instructive video. It makes for a concise and useful "syllabus" for the rumba. I appreciate your generosity in sharing it. Can you do the same for the cha cha and the samba? I look forward to those postings. Thanks again, and keep it up.
Hello Hai Duong! You are so welcome. Definately planning on doing a video like this for Samba and ChaCha, so stay tuned! 👍🏼 How long have you been dancing? What are you most interested in learning/ improving and any particular areas you find challenging?
Hi Dance Insanity team: Thank you for your responses. To answer your questions, Liwen, I have been taking a weekly group class in International Latin for four years now. Although I concentrate only on the rumba and the cha cha (slighting the samba and the paso, and completely ditching the jive), I still find every movement challenging. That is, if I am to perform it well, and especially if I am to perform it well EVERY TIME. That said, I am most intrigued by the VERY fast swivels that professionals execute on the counts of four-and-one in the cha cha. Intellectually, I understand that I must stretch and twist my core, rather than swing my hips, much less my legs. Well, I am still practicing. On second thought, this is perhaps something that a sixty-two years-old man like me shouldn't attempt. All the same, I find your enthusiasm for dancing contagious, and your effervescence inspiring. Godspeed.
Dai, It's wonderful that you continue to nurture your love for the Latin dances. Besides, I think it's important to find things that we don't think you can do (yet), but attempt them anyway. That's what inspires us to grow and get better at what we love. What's that popular saying? If you reach for the moon.... ;) For the fast swivels, (like twist chasses, compact chasses etc - is that what you mean?), using oppositional knee action between both legs (alternating the straightening and bending of the knees) is also key. That may be a good idea for a video tutorial? You are only 62 years YOUNG. plenty more years of great dancing ahead! :)
This is a great routine. I have tried out 3 times, 70% of the routine works well. I need more time to get the lady on the opening out step and aida :D I would say that my favourite step is the basic ^_____^
@@DanceInsanity there are so much things i need to work on. how can i properly move my hips, the change of weight as i do the rock step and side steps... i really have a little idea on doing it... but thanks to your video i am enlightened somehow. i have to do first the rumba walk.. i thing it's very necessary...

This is a a life saver!! Thank you! Could someone tell me tho what music did they use at the end when they were completing the routine? Thank you so muchhh
I know that in the Rumba Basic Movement, for the man, on the first 4-1, settle the L hip on about the "1", and on the second 4-1, settle the R hip at about the second "1", to get the basic Cuban hip motion. And I also know another important technique - especially in International Rumba - weight is taken on a straight leg (not like American rumba, where weight is taken on a bent one), in most of the basic steps. This is especially important when you go up a level in this style of rumba and do the forward and back Rumba Walks.
The Underarm Turn is also included in an extended Rumba basic school figure called the Opening Out to Fan, which is not included in the Video. The Opening Out to Fan happens first, and then the follower ends the fan as the follower goes across to the leader, with an outside Underarm Turn. They call this the "Alemana Turn." Ironically, even without the use of the Opening out to Fan as a precede, this outside UAT is called an "Alemana Turn" also. (For example, you do a Basic Movement first-half, and end with an Alemana Turn out of that Basic in the Second Half without opening out to Fan.)
Nice routine to practice to. Would've been nice if y'all could've worked in a fan, alemana, and hockey stick in there somewhere, though. Then I think that'd be all the "need-to-know" figures from the bronze syllabus in one easy practice routine!
Just starting to learn rumba! Love how you explain the steps and how both of you teach. In other videos, only the guy speaks and the girl stands there smiling … annoying! Good background music!
Hola Rita! We added Spanish subtitles, but it may not always be accurate, so if anything sounds weird, it's probably because the translation isn't great. :) Happy dancing and welcome to our Dance Insanity channel!
quang truong hello again! I think you meant sliding doors? We did a video on sliding doors here. Check it out: ua-cam.com/video/IrRvQ_iGK58/v-deo.html any questions or other steps you'd like to learn?
Hi! I was learning the Rumba tonight with a group and we were learning "the princess" where you would do "three steps to the side", then the leader moves the left foot back with the left arm down, then the left arm goes back up and turn the follower to the left side and you also turn to the left, then I forgot the rest. Do you have a video for that? I hope you understand what I am talking about.
Rocketman Investing hello! Thanks for the question. Many times, studios/ teachers will make up their own steps with their own names. Since "The princess" isn't a syllabus/ common name.. we're not sure what it is. Wish we could help! Is it international/ American rumba?
Along with everything else awesome about these videos (the absolute beginner's steps that I have difficulties finding), I especially love that you use gender neutral terms Leader/Follower instead of Man/Woman, making room for same-sex dance partners (for practicing or personal preference)

He's showing proper hip movement... as a beginner it's useful to know how the move should look when done correctly. Taking that out would be teaching improper form. You wouldn't want a personal trainer to teach you poor form, you wouldn't want a dance instructor to either.
you obviously don't know or seen the dance in it's origin. the dance is from africa and with a.cuban flair. the way it's dance here is watered down Arian American version from Fred Astaire days.

@@DanceInsanity yes . I was not seeing this . Also the foxtrot dance was huh? The music as well huh? I suppose I prefer traditional styles not the fusion hip hop in ballroom. Keep it classic salsa ,rumba ,tango ect .
Donna George yeah...The music... 😅 I see your point... the classic styles make it easier to read the dance. What are your fav dances?
@@DanceInsanity well was a ballet dancer then came weight gain lol but I love the tango and waltz .
Your hands seem to fighting with ghosts.
阿阮Aaron who won the fight?? The ghosts or us? 😉
looks like we are ahead of schedule with Halloween, lol!
Dance Insanity Of course you guys...ghosts aren't here yet.
阿阮Aaron YEAH! 🙌🏼 💪🏼👻
cool, that was close!
He low key looks like Tom Hiddleston
wow, thanks!
This aint no rumba, is it? I've been in Cuba in Matanzas 8 years ago where they do dance the original Rumba. I dunno what it is.
Dude, enough with the squirrelly hip crap. It’s beginner steps. Teach what works for beginners. You are making a mockery of your three step process described at the beginning. This thing stinks.
He's showing proper hip movement... as a beginner it's useful to know how the move should look when done correctly. Taking that out would be teaching improper form. You wouldn't want a personal trainer to teach you poor form, you wouldn't want a dance instructor to either.
I'm not going to watch these ads
you obviously don't know or seen the dance in it's origin. the dance is from africa and with a.cuban flair. the way it's dance here is watered down Arian American version from Fred Astaire days.
Dude, it's NOT pronounced "Rumba." It's "Roomba."
J'aime l'écriture mais je ne voit pas vos pieds
