Jump starting 2.5 TDI with NOCO GB40

- NOTE: Yes, the GB40 is too small for diesel engine of this size. If you need to reliably start bigger diesels in low temperatures (this is 5-cylinder 2.5 liter and it was not that cold), I would advise for the bigger NOCOs out there.
Other than that, the GB40 will still start even the 2.5 TDI, but you cannot crank it for more then 3-5 seconds at a time, otherwise it will overheat (and then it takes 20+ minutes for it to cool down).
On this car I can get about 2 jump starts, then it needs recharging. Which honestly is still amazing. It still saved me - and many others - countless times.

I have one of these units for my previous car but have since upgraded to a 3.0 vw touareg v6 tdi. Do you think the unit is capable of starting my car if the battery dies?
If I were to go with NOCO, I'd get the higher ones in the line up, like NOCO GB60. This GB40 is at its limit with 2.5 TDI (which is 5-cyl), as I wrote in the video description.
if you have vw touareg 3.0 V6 tdi and battery problem, i suggest you to go to auto electrician for checking starter motor before you buy this or changing battery! starter motor drains the battery sneakily in vw touareg! i had horribel experience about it unfortunately!
If the temp had been -10F, fuggetaboutit.
Yeah, but it wasn't. For diesel this was the limit already. For smaller petrol/gas engines no problem even at -40 C, I helped started bunch of cars over the deep freezes while I lived in Calgary.
Took it camping a lots of times too and it started my 3.6L Grand Caravan every time I left the fridge running for a little too long, too.
