- This is my story of my diagnosis with HIV. It has not been an easy road however I am making the best of it and living life to the fullest. Please educate yourself about this virus, know your status, and Always Protect yourself. It is no longer a death sentence however it is a life sentence. You are a brave man. I have a dear friend that got HIV from a blood transfusion. He is on medication and doing great! He met a nice woman 2 years ago and the got married and the adopted a child. I have never seen him so happy. I am glade to be his friend and enjoy watching him continue to work hard taking his medication and loving his wife and child.
This experience has helped me to be a better person and really know the true meaning of love

HIV is a scary thing however their are various forms to protect yourself wether it be condoms, PrEP, or TaSP. Being educated about the virus is the best thing, this is a preventable virus.

I thought for almost a year after having unprotected sex with a woman I met that I might have contracted the virus, but just the thought of getting tested and getting a positive result really really scared me but I finally got a blood test and It came back negative and i am so thankful to god and have vowed to never put my in unnecessary risk again. thanks again and best of luck to you sir.

I just came across your video, the part of your video when your at your doctor appointment. I was sitting at the edge of my chair hoping for a negative result but moment when you said your doctor told you that you're HIV positive. I started crying and I just wanted to comfort you from that point forward. No one deserves a positive and I wouldn't wish this horrible disease on my worst enemy. +Anak Dukha I had swollen lymph nodes when initially diagnosed however after starting treatment those went away. As far as side effects with Atripla I had constant nausea, a buzzing in head, drunk like feeling all the time, grogginess, and just overall bad feeling. When I switched to Complera I found much relief but I still deal with chronic fatigue and slight rapid weight gain. In terms of the HIV itself I am completely healthy, numbers good, haven't had too many side effects from the virus itself. Most don't have side effects until it progresses to AIDS stage which luckily now days with effectiveness of treatment, doesn't ever have to happen. Big hugs hope you are having good start to the year

I've moved on past the point of knowing who and have focused more on what I can do now that I am in the position I am in. Advocacy is a major part of my life now.

Did you get any symptom after those unprotected sex? like fever, flu, sore throat..etc ? And it has been years now, do you realize any change? any symptom? From your facebook, I've seen you gain some weight
+Ffws Sdd Hey thanks for watching. The only symptom I got when initially diagnosed was some swollen lymph nodes but that went down after starting treatment. I actually used to be much skinnier however have had some rapid weight gain due to switch of medication. I made this video when I was on Atripla and had the opposite effect with a lot of lost weight, now I am in a different position with the weight gain. The meds react differently with everyone but overall I have been very fortunate with Complera and have not experienced too many side effects. I'd much rather deal with rapid weight gain than the side effects I was going through with Atripla when I made this video :/ . Hope you are having a great day friend, take care :)

WASHNEW I have been away from this channel for awhile but will soon start uploading videos again soon. My ex girlfriend and I have not been in contact therefore I am not 100 % sure if she came out negative or not however from what some in her family have told me, she did. She comes from a very traditional family though therefore even if she did come out positive I don't think she would have disclosed it to anyone. I hope she did and I wish her the best

holly They legally cannot give someone a positive HIV result over the phone, it has to be done in person. My doctor had just received paperwork informing of diagnosis and instead of having to call me in for a separate appointment he saw I was already going to be seeing my specialist within a day or so and left it to him to tell me. I would have preferred to have been prepared going in with the mindset of getting HIV results and not caught off guard but I can't turn back the hands of time. Regardless the important part is I knew my status very early on compared to many other cases and was able to take the proper steps to grieve, start treatment, and push forward. +Hollyxo A friend worked 13 years for UT/SW Medical School in Dallas in a part that did tests for high risk people, first for gay men only, then for anyone. The test was free, but it took a week for the results to come back. Counseling sessions were generally 15 minutes and a negative was over and done with quickly. However, positive results were scheduled for the end of the day because they never knew how the patient would react and had to leave the session open-ended. As this person described, they inevitably broke down and cried, sometimes for two hours before they could regain their composure and be sent on their way. One day a session was in progress and they heard a commotion outside--it was the recipient of a positive result going bonkers, storming up and down the hall, screaming obscenities. One time my friend accidentally stuck himself with a needle after a test--the only time because he was ultra cautious, but he was having trouble finding a vein in the arm of an obese woman--he had to be tested but came back negative as was she. He finally had enough and resigned and went to work in Parkland Hospital's childrens' asthma section.
Out of all the searching I've done you are the only guy that I've seen that is straight with hiv like myself, I contracted it and gonerhea at the same time in 2019.... wow are misfortune is astronomical

+Brian Clark Hey Brian thanks for watching. I am doing well at the moment and am happy with my life. I've become more involved in advocacy and regularly blog for a couple of HIV websites. I'm also diving more into blogging and making videos so stay tuned. But health wise I am alright, I've had my ups and downs. Since being diagnosed I've survived a blood clot and some more flare ups in my leg. Other than that things are going well, I thank God for every day I have on earth. I'm still on meds but now I take complera and am working on getting my private pilots license at the moment :). The sky is truly the limit with HIV, anything is possible.

Kano there are no specific symptoms for hiv. Two weeks is not enough time to show up positive. You need to get tested 3 months after incident and then 6 months after it to confirm2. It takes time for the body to build antibodies in the system against hiv which is what the tests check for. If both of those are negative than your fine, if positive result they do a western blot just to confirm which checks for hiv proteins and after that one comes back only then is a diagnosis confirmed. It's going to take more time so in another 10 weeks get tested again. 97% of people will show up positive in this time, in the event you are one of the few 3 % just to be on the safe side go again after 6 months ok. Use protection , this virus is possible to live with but not something I want anyone else to have to go through. Much Love from Southern cali
As of 2018, a 4th Generation HIV 1 & 2 duo/combo Anitibidy test (has a 95% accuracy in 30 days after possible exposure and 99.7% accurate after 90 days) along with a HIV 1 RNA QL TMA (99.7% accuracy after 30 days). Both test will be a blood draw taken to a laboratory for processing (not a rapid test).
The 4th generation HIV 1 & 2 Antibody test is far better than the previous HIV 3rd generation test, which required retesting at 90 days. The 4th generation duo HIV 1 & 2 Antibody test along with an HIV 1 RNA QL TMA (early detection test) will be given to be conclusive that you are HIV negative.
The HIV 1 RNA looks for the actual HIV DNA in your system and has pretty much replaced the Western Blot.
PozitiveHope just seen this video. The 4th Generation HIV1 & HIV2 combination test is 97.999% accurate at 30 days. Hospitals will also do an HIV1 RNA test. This RNA test is 99.999% accurate after about 10-14 days.
People who are worrying that they might have HIV and had never got tested..You guys Need to get tested right away. Thats the only way to get rid of your worries and fear. Me myself I was also terrified that I might have Virus. For almost 7 years I was living in fear that I might have. and then finally after that I forced myself getting tested. Facing my fear. and the result its negative . Jesus christ I was living in fear for fucking 7 years for nothing. So you guys must get tested and dont waste time 😉.and if it happen to be youre positve .. be glad you got tested so you could take the medication right away.

how long does it take for an hiv test result to come out? why didnt your doctor or clinic contact you straight away, they only told you a week later and only if you hadnt gone back! thats strange they should have called you.

Their are rapid tests that you can get the results within 20 minutes however a standard blood test sent to a lab can take a couple days to come back.
They can't legally tell you a positive diagnosis over the phone therefore they have to set up an appointment and most likely since my primary care saw I was already scheduled to go in for appointment with my specialist (who would happen to be the perfect referral for my HIV diagnosis) then I think he thought it would be appropriate to be wait a couple extra days.

20 days after intercourse and I have dry cough, discomfort when swallowing food, little cold sores on lips every day in different spots, pain in muscles, pimples after shaving even though never had this problem, do I have HIV? I am waiting for day 30 after intercourse to get tested

In a 2017 article you said that you broke up with your gf, and spent the next 5 months having sex with men and women to stop you feeling bad, and it was after this you received your HIV status. I think this video is a little misleading, that you came out as Bi Sexual in an article in 2017. Why have you not updated this video?

I wouldn't say having sex with your boyfriend is promiscuous. He was promiscuous from being in the brothels and seeking female companionship with prostitutes. He brought the virus home to there bed potentially. We don't know if she contracted it.

How does getting tested help you not get HIV. I don't get it. Best thing to do is be abstinent. Better to be abstinent and not have HIV than to sleep around and risk getting HIV and other stds. Nobody says you should have sex.

I appreciate the story of this video and I gave it a like. But I have to say that it is actually quite idiotic of people to have their HIV tested multiple times after having multiple unprotected sexual activities! I have read quite a few stories of HIV Positive patients that have had themselves tested multiple times most of the times they came out negative until finally one day they get a positive result. This in my mind is absolutely pathetic!
It demonstrates that these people have not learnt from any of their mistakes and persisted to continue with their old risky habits. Why not bloody take your lessons and stop all together? Like many HIV+ people say that it's not worth risking your life for a 15 minute excitement and then have yourself fighting your entire life with HIV medications just to suppress it, along with all the stigma and social discrimination that comes with it!
It baffles me to read these stories where people say they have had unprotected sex and then go for a check-up in their hope that they'll luckily turn out to be negative each time. What's the point of that? You're not learning from your mistakes. The damage will have already been done by the time you know it and there is no rewind button to your life. Better stay safe than feel sorry for the rest of your entire life!
