The 18s look way better. Maybe the difference in mpg is from the type of tire difference. If your old tires had more of a all season type tire and this new tire had more of a all terrain type tread. Or the load rating of the tire changed, could be the truck came with factory p rated tires and those new ones are LT tires. That could be a part of the difference. Also play around with tire pressure. Once you start changing tire sizes that can have a different effect. Also ford in around the 2011 time frame started to put spoilers on tailgates. I saw a video that ford put out that said if the top of the tailgate has 6 inches of width on top if the tailgate it pulls the air that sits in the bed area and pulls it out of the truck. Reducing drag.
Great input... I did make sure I had the air pressure pumped up, to about 37 psi. I also have a bed cover that eliminates the need for the bigger rear spoiler. Not sure about the tire rating. I need to look into that. I think another factor impacting my fuel economy is an exhaust leak. That's on the schedule to get revamped. I'm also planning on installing a deeper front spoiler as on modern F150's.
@@DrivingIntelligence yeah just from looking at discount tire website. One tire that is a standard load rating weighs 38 pounds but the e rated tire weighs 48. So that can add up unsprung weight and decrease mpg. A exhaust leak will definitely affect fuel economy. Can throw off O2 sensor readings . Replacing any old sensors could help. Cleaning your mass air flow sensor. Add fresh fluids to your vehicle. I am also curious to know if your truly benefitting from running a 91-93 octane fuel vs just like a 86-87. Some areas you can be paying almost 1-1.50 more per gallon for that fuel. I would do some testing on that. I just found your channel and watched a couple videos. So i dont know if you have done all this stuff yet. But i did subscribe to see your journey further.
@@rocklow243 Thanks for your comments... I appreciate it. I've made hundreds of 10th Gen F150 videos. You can find the playlist on my channel, and I also have a fuel economy playlist that shows steps I've taken to improve the fuel economy of this big old truck. I mentioned the exhaust leak because as you noted, my o2 sensor voltages look off. I want to change to true dual and get the leak corrected at the collector. Appreciate your support and welcome aboard!
I have a 2004 Expedition that I added a chin spoiler from a 11-16 F250. It bolted up surprisingly easy and the outside of the spoiler sits down the middle of the front tires. Was wanting a spoiler from the 2017+ F250 as they are a little deeper, but this one looks very good mounted up. Love your videos! Keep'um coming!
thank you! Sounds like you and I are both trying to improve aerodynamics. I'm hopeful the changes I make to my spoiler will provide good results! Did you notice an improvement in fuel economy?
I have not been able to do a long test loop with it yet and it being cold out now where I'm at the fuel mileage has dropped substantially from summer time. Hoping to do a few other mods and do some more testing this coming spring/summer. I averaged 17 mpg this past summer before any mods. Wanting to try and knock on the door of 20 mpg.@@DrivingIntelligence
3.73 gears, 255/70/18(32" tires), Trick Flow Underdrive pulleys, New cat converters and Flowmaster straight through muffler, K&N drop-in air filter with modded stock airbox. Made another 3 inch inlet in airbox and routed a tube to the bottom front grille for ram air. Wanting to do e-fans and BBK throttle body next.@@DrivingIntelligence
@@lucasbouwman8589 nice mods... which converters did you use? I've been looking to replace my bad cats with high flow, but hard to find a suitable replacement. Also, where are you located?
These videos are as usual quite useful..still hoping you will post a mpg with the 4.10s at 75mph..even just as a short. 75 is very common speed now where most travel would happen, at least in my area.
Thanks for the comment. I actually posted a vid or 2 showing the fuel economy at 72 mph. When I get a chance, I try to get one posted at 75. Check out my fuel economy playlist for that video.
I have a 2000 f150 and I love what you're with yours. Thank you for the info on the center piece. I couldnt find it. My question/request is the trim around the back window. I cant find any aftermarket trim. I have purchased 5 now and all are broken or break. Any ideas??? Also, I love how you have personalize your rig inside and out!! TY !
Glad you enjoy my vids! More to come. That trim is so expensive. Mine broke while replacing the rear leaking window, so I repaired it. Check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/rUAe6pDjOM0/v-deo.htmlsi=do_H-yMxPSZWfYGj
Interesting question. I’ve been playing with ethanol free fuels lately and impressed with the fuel economy improvement. Haven’t felt an interest in going e85. I also understand ethanol free is better for engines, but I need to do more research.
I like the wheels. Great vids on the F150. I have a 2001 with 213k miles.
thank you! These trucks just keep running... like the Eveready Bunny!

Looking forward to the spoiler project
hopefully soon!
I just put on new shocks from beltech they are the street performance tier. They are stable at faster speeds and I highly recommend!
That's what I put on both my '02 F150s... love them. The version I put on my '02 HD F150 are performance versions and improved the handling.
Great vid

Like what your doing. Keep it up.
thank you... I could use a few more subscribers and viewers! ;)
I prefer the 18" wheels. 20" wheels look a little too big on this model truck in my opinion. Black and white contrast is perfect. Nice looking truck!!
thank you! These new wheels have grown on me, and as I note in the video, the ride quality is much better.

BTW...the 18" look way better, but i dont think its the size as much as the black inlay vs the all polished chrome.
thanks, they have grown on me... and recently while off-roading, the additional side-wall really helped.
Would you consider installing the e85 flex fuel kit from eflexplus

How are the 5x135 to 6x135 adapters holding up? Any problems at all with wobble or loosening up ?
They've been great with zero issues. Ride is perfect with no vibration
Is it stock hight?
And those wheels definitely look better
thanks for the comment. It is stock height, especially because I want a comfortable daily driver.
