- Competent but uninspiring. Bigger and softer than ever before, if this Jetta was a Chevrolet I'd be thrilled with it; but compared to previous Jettas, it has lost its sporty European feel.

I'd love to see VWestlife test drive and review more cars
quirks and features :D
He does have a unique style, no quirks and features :D
me too, i loved all of his reviews right now ☺️👍🏻
Yes ...hope to see another VW
One of the best reviews I've seen! It's not one sided, and gives a clear view of operating the vehicle. You left out the warranty (6 yr, 72,000 mile).
Your reviews are good. They're more humble and about usability than the typical "here is a fact sheet about all the specs".
Thought about the Technology Connections video as soon as you mentioned the amber blinkers. Lmao.
Joah1991 Me too lol
Just had the same model for 5 days while my GTI was getting a new water pump. The S is a strange blend of premium (the infotainment, safety features) and cheapness (hard plastics, poor trunk hinges, flimsy hood prop rod, agricultural engine). I hate to admit it, but I liked it as a commuter car. The fuel economy is phenomenal (saw 37-46.5 mostly highway) and pretty comfortable. I agree that it is no mk5 or 6 Jetta in terms of being fun to drive, but at the $16-17k price point, it is appealing.
Excellent review, by the way!
Found a 2019 Jetta S in that exact color with 11,400 miles on it. $19,500. Sounds about as good as I'm going to do for a low mileage used car in this horrible market. Thanks for the review - helpful. I rented a 2019 about a year ago, but had kind of forgotten most of it. I just remember it was pleasant, quiet and rode well and seemed to fit my 6' 3" frame OK.
I see a similar one for $19,999 with 17k miles on it. I'm 6'3" as well so I assume you enjoy your purchase?
I have this car. Its been reliable for the past year and fuel efficiency is amazing. For those complaining about lack of features please increase your budget because this car is meant to be an economic and reliable car for city commute in the long term. As my first car ever and while being a full time college student, this car is fantastix
I just bought it
Same here, I bought this car as a college student due to the price, 7 year warranty, and fuel economy. I personally love the car and it does everything I would expect from a basic vehicle, I got it with a 6 speed manual transmission so it's even fun to drive.
Nice to see a proper car review, thank you.
I feel like my friend is talking to me about a car. Very honest and practical review...
I think i will buy this car
Something about you makes it so your videos are entertaining/interesting no matter the subject.
I know right? I love how he talks
@@100Underscores reminds me a bit of Ray Ramono without the jokes. I enjoyed it.
Love your honest &detailed review!
Got mine for about 16000 Bc the 2020 has only minor differences and I see a lot of people who seem to hate on it, but after owning it for a year and some change I can say this car is definitely amazing! Simple and gets the job done with ease. Barely fill up like once a month and it can even get off when you need it. 10/10 for the price 🤞🏻
Great hearing the perspective from the owner of a mk6 Jetta. Thanks!
Nice shoutout to Tech Connections :)
He hates red turn signals.
@@Rouxenator same here. Made me feel really uneasy and unsafe. This is why I enjoy driving in UK more since all turn signals are amber be default.
In the UK it is the law for them to be amber
Just bought one yesterday, I love it!
12:47 The "radio monitor" menu exists in most VW radios made since 2004. Entering it is the same basic idea: Press and hold "MENU" or "SETUP".
Some notes:
•On some radios you may need to use the center knob or the sound settings button instead.
•Some of the older radios do not tell you the exact field strength value.
•If you have a touchscreen radio without physical arrow (< and >) buttons, you can't do an automatic station search in the tuner test mode.
Nice car review. I enjoyed the drive in the countryish suburbia of New Jersey on a cold winter day.
Hilarious the reference to Technology Connections! I saw his rant video about amber taillight blinkers as well. It's crazy how much I have in common with you, hahaha
We have this exact model of Jetta and color, bought it September 2018. I've driven it round-trip to Central Florida. Not too bad a ride.
The new Jettas look VERY audiesque. More mature and elegant but less sporty. The blue color looks incredible.
I just sold my 2001 Golf TDI and purchased one of the CPO 2015 Golf TDIs. The Golf is a much nicer car than the Jetta these days. My 2001 had 393K miles on it and looked and drove nearly perfect. The 2015 Golf is really really nice. So far, I like it a lot!
Hope to see more Volkswagen reviews
It's nice, but I'm still glad to be rolling around in my 2004 MK4 Golf TDI Estate (the same as the Jetta Wagon that you got in North America, yet here in the UK it had the Golf-front end rather than the Jetta - which is the Bora here). Did make me smile how you referred to the Jetta as being sporty - it also makes me question the fact that cars that are considered 'sporty' in the USA are generally considered to be cars for older folk here - the Jetta, Honda Jazz/Fit, various Toyota's...
Newer cars that don't come with a spare tyre really do infuriate me somewhat. You pay all the money for the car in the first place, and then they take something away which years ago you would've just gotten chucked in anyway.
It's a pleasant enough simple car, I suppose. Nice thorough review.
The key question is does it come with space to keep one ? My wife's Skoda Citgo came with pump and aersosol full of junk. That didn't work on her Fathers Hyundai (large bolt through the tyre sidewall) which resulted in the car having to be taken to the tyre centre on a recovery truck, My Golf Mk7 came with a 50MPH max space saver (far better than nothing). However, they both have the space for a full size spare so two Ebay purchases later that is what they have. I believe some BMWs and Minis don't have space for even a Space Saver if you want one.
12:24 - Still sounds better than the stereo in my 2017 Honda Civic.
JoshCraver9000 okay it’s a 2019??...
My Skoda Octavia (which is pretty much identical to the Jetta albeit a bit bigger in the trunk as it's a hatchback rather than a saloon) has a drive mode selection - I wonder if the Eco button is the equivalent of that. You can change the steering weight (Eco = light, Drive = Normal and Sport = Heavy). You can also force the DSG gearbox and suspension into Eco, Drive or Sport mode permanently along with the way the throttle response works. Finally the Air Conditioning can be set to Eco or Normal (takes longer to get down or up to temperature in Eco). I tend to have mine in Eco most of the time, but you can also set a custom combination (Individual) which I have set to sport steering, eco gearbox and normal aircon.
EDIT - I had a Chevy Cruz as a rental car when over in the US in September. Apart from Carplay as standard, which was a nice touch, it was a hateful car. The auto stop was more auto-stall, and unlike the VW there is NO WAY to disable auto stop - many times when at stop lights, the engine would click off as normal, but would fail to restart, requiring you to put the shifter into P, restart the car and then into D again. By this time the person behind you is already stood on their horn!
I want a white one with manual. This car has a lot of potential with aftermarket upgrades.
Excellent 5 star reception on AM.
Honest review, thanks.
I always enjoy your videos. I’m a VW owner too and I’m a fan of VW... mostly. My previous car was. 2010 VW Jetta TDI and I loved that car. The diesel scandal resulted in a very generous offer which put me into. 2012 Tiguan and I love that car too but I miss the fuel economy I was getting with the diesel. I have not been a fan of the Jetta model after 2010. The attention to detail and fit and finish was more like an Audi in that series prior to 2011. The 2010 was the last good Jetta. Too many corners cut on the 2011 and beyond! One example is that the 2010 had gas struts for the cavernous trunk! Controls were much more convenient too! It seems VW was trying to make the car more like an American car, bigger and cheaper! Doesn’t look like they have gotten much better for 2019. The new Tiguans seem to be going in that bigger and cheaper direction too. The 2012 Tiguan is perfect except for the increased cost in fuel.
I have a 2019 Jetta SEL that was made in September of 2019 I believe. The interior honestly looks nicer than this one and the trunk lid springs open by itself.
I prefer the dash in my 15 Scion XB. I was getting a entry level VW, but I keep my cars the long haul and newer VWs make me nervous. I like my car’s simplicity mechanically, the manual parking break, proven reliability. I need to remind myself why I bought it 2 years ago. 35k and like new. The stickshift adds some fun and engaging feel. Thinking I will add a TRD shift kit to shorten the throws like my 92 GTI has. I think the VW feel is unique, but I am a bigger fan of the MK2s and MK3 convertible models than later cars. Too big and complicated.
Imagine someone wants an aftermarket screen audio system and they need to be concerned with how to adjust the dash lighting??
Yes, but where's the Doug score?
John Smith I’d give it a 4 for weekend score
John Smith idiot score
"Doug Score", as in Demuro? Ooof, I can't stand that wanker. Highly unwatchable, that guy is.

My car is a 1968 Saab 95 wagon and it has exactly 4 knobs and 3 levers for controls
Why would you want a cover over your engine ? If i owned a car with that it would be coming off right away! They do it on PC motherboards now too! They go right in the bin !
Also not a fan of electronic hand break .. just feels wrong.
It's to dampen the noise, mostly. For diesels, that goes without saying, but the direct injection systems on these FSI engines tick and rattle quite a bit. Nothing to be concerned about, but someone who doesn't know what the noise is might complain and bring the car in.
Andrew Joy Maybe true, but these covers have been more or less standard on every car from every manufacturer for 15 or more years now. They do reduce engine noise a bit. Electric hand brakes increase interior storage and no one is doing handbrake turns in a FWD economy car so why are they so offensive?
I agree with you, but motoring ignorant people don't like how engines look and prefer to have a crappy plastic cover over it for some reason.
If they did the maintenance to their car by themselves they would think like us.
@@ImpiantoFacile You can always pull it off if it bothers you. Older longitudonally mounted engines were made to look somewhat pretty (with varying degrees of success), but pull the cover off of these newer ones, and it doesn't look that nice at all, so why bother.
Personally, i don't care that much, as long as it comes off easily (most just pull off) to allow me to work on it, it's fine. It's not like you look at it all the time.
I drive an mx5, which has a pretty oldschool (coverless) engine bay with a retro valve cover that looks like an old twin cam four banger should, but it matters to maybe 5% of the customer base, so ...
Muffles the sound of the injectors.
Well done, my honda has the exact same trunk issues. I've been noticing in my work parking lot how cars, especially 4-door sedans, are all starting to look very similar even between different manufacturers. Kind of like PC clones, it makes me wonder how much (if anything) of today's cars are actually made from raw materials by the automaker, versus off the shelf components just assembled.
Why do not any of your videos have subtitles? I'm not complaining about this because I'm learning English just by listening to you and trying to understand as much as I can but the subtitles are a great help to understand or even know new words that I've never seen before hahaha, big hug from Brazil O/
PS: Why do not I ever see your face in any video? I'm curious to know how you are :3
Ask UA-cam, not me. I have all of the settings enabled for them to add auto-generated subtitles to my videos, but they never do. I have no control over it. And I have shown my face in several videos.
@@vwestlife OMG You answered me =))) The YT is full of flaws and problems, now more than never, I'm not surprised that the lack of subtitles is caused by them. Can you point me some video in which your face appears? So far, I've been following your channel and watching the old videos a lot and saving them in a playlist, (it's in public if you want to check hahahaha) but in none of them did I see your face. Do you have Instagram?
Beautiful car Sir 👍 Tam.
Seems like a quality vehicle. Nothing new here with this vehicle, just a reliable comfortable car, which plenty of other car manufacturers offer. I was just at the Detroit auto show yesterday. Unfortunately I didn't get to sit in any VW's because there were just too many people waiting to sit in the cars! I did get to sit in a Hyundai Kona, which is my favorite affordable vehicle they had there.
What are its quirks and features?
OMG! I had just finished listening to "Sailing" by Christopher Cross, on the radio in Georgia, before I watched this video.. What do you think about that :)
Honestly what's with cars these days and obnoxiously sized front grilles? Not like there's any extra cooling performance anyway with these normal everyday cars.
Even with factory performance cars and modified cars, they could do with bigger grilles to help with better cooling. But even a lot of the aftermarket upgraded intercoolers don't even take up that much size.
It's a styling trend. Big grilles are "in" today, just like tailfins were in the 1950s.
It’s also cheaper to have a giant plastic trim piece than a few cents on extra paint.
Agreed and they just add to the long list of ugly features modern cars have.
Your a good driver. I don't know but all the cars look the same to me. That trunk issue would be a deal killer for me (sales), probably fixed because I see a lot of companies going to them for company cars. I prefer the engine open as well for checking levels. Super gas mileage though.
Does this VW jetta S 2019 have ambient lights?
With that electronic parking brake does it physically move the brake pedal down?
On my 2018 Subaru Outback engaging the parking brake basically just engages something that holds the brake pedal down.
But it's not a ratcheting mechanism or something, so if you leave the parking brake on for a long time (I think like a month) it will eventually drain the battery.
Yes, when I engage or disengage the parking brake I can feel the brake pedal move slightly. The owner's manual does mention that you should not leave the parking brake on when you plan to leave the car parked for an extended period.
This is an amazing car. The styling is conservative inside and out, and the controls are easy to understand for someone who like me is used to cars from the 1980s. The 150 hp engine is all that is necessary. Most modern cars are now dangerously overpowered. If I had the money I would definitely buy this car.
Hey VWestlife. @11:11 (1) Can a Line Input Jack be added to that radio? (2) What do you do about listening to cd's since that radio doesn't include a cd player? :)
1. No. 2. A USB CD/DVD drive (like for a laptop computer) might work with it.
Same thing on my 2018 focus. I just copied my jukebox onto USB; 6300 songs, but would still use the CD player had one been included.
What bothers me is how basic it is such as with the rubber steering wheel, the horrible seat backs (where the pockets would be, they look awful), the sheer amount of blank switches, the plastics etc. It also looks a little short on coolant
It's the base model, so of course it's going to look rather plain inside. And VWs have always had a lot of blank switches because in Europe they're used as taxis, police cars, etc. which require a lot of extra electrical equipment not normally found in ordinary cars.
@@vwestlife That may be true in the case of the Jetta but Polos, Golfs, Amaroks etc are all the same.
Thanks for the review this confirms why I don't want this year model
The SD card slot on the radio is probably only intended for updating the satellite navigation map, and not intended for music. I believe it's that way on most Audi cars, at least.
It can be used for playing music, accessed by the Media button on the radio.
@@vwestlife Oh, thank you for clarifying.
It's quite entertaining how many of these new cars look basically the same other than the badge displaying the manufacturer.
The styling of the new Jetta does seem very similar to that of the Ford Fusion and previous-generation Hyundai Sonata.
Excellent review. Maybe it’s just me but I preferred the old body style compared to this one. The old design was distinctively German. This one seems oddly proportioned especially toward the back. The front fascia also seems fairly similar to the last generation. Overall a solid car but I think vehicles like the new corolla and Sentra are definitely more intriguing options.
I love your car reviews... and you should have said "stupid plane" when that jet flew over.
To add another thing while watching this the automatic headlights is a feature that on most manufacturers need to really think about. Half cars I've seen have headlights on and no tail lights. Try telling people and you get flipped off or told you don't know what talking about the lights on. Yeah so is dash lights when the darn car turns on. Yet most people driving down road have their "driving lights on. So dim yet oblivious to seeing their light off because of dash lights being on. Auto manufacturers made a huge mistake on this. If it's able too I'd grab laptop hook it to car and shut that "feature" off.
These are nice with the MQB Platform, but I don't like how they decontented the SE trim for 2019... no more SiriusXM for example... if you want that you have to spend at least $25k for the SEL... the MK6 Jettas are nice and super inexpensive, well-equipped as well... I drove a 2016 1.4T SE trim Jetta, and was quite impressed with it, felt very comfortable in it, not just because the seats were comfortable, but also because the car was easy to see out of and easy to drive. :)
You answered your own question about the blanks on either side of the radio when you implied there is an upper level infotainment head unit not found in this particular car. That head unit includes a bigger screen that takes up that blank space. The IP dimmer is the perfect thing to bury in the infotainment settings since you set it once in your life and that’s it. More buttons and especially a rheostat in the dash, the more complicated and vulnerable to failure, especially with VW history of electrically reliability (or lack thereof as witnessed by your seat heater failure).
No, even the highest trim level with the fanciest infotainment system still has those blank areas on either side of the head unit: blogmedia.dealerfire.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/213/2018/10/2019-Volkswagen-Jetta-B6_o.jpg
Great stuff, you are very logical and methodical! One little, tiny correction: here in europe (being a german car) it is called a ietta J=I🙈
It sounds like you're trying to apply Spanish pronunciation rules to an English name (Jetta = named after the Jet stream). So you really should be pronouncing it like how I say it in the video.
But it’s german..
But Jetta is just the name it has in the North American market. In Europe this model is called the Bora. Volkswagen itself pronounces it as he does here.
My mistake then. Apologies🙏🏼
I'm guessing that vent tunnels next to the head unit were causing it to overheat
I remember that the best way to experience these in a drive was that you have to have open road or use these cars on a highway.
So, how do you like your Jetta after driving it for awhile? How does it hold up?
I'm very happy with it and aside from the heated seat I have not had any problems with it.
seriously... a spare tire is an option now?
9:04 My guess is that it assumes the door had been left open for some time
What song is playing at 13:23 ?
Hey @vwestlife, do you plan on reviewing a Renault, or a Peugeot/Citroën? I would be very pleased by that!
I would, if any of those car brands were sold in the USA, but they're not. (Citroën stopped selling cars in the USA in 1974, Renault in 1987, and Peugeot in 1992.)
Seems like quite a downgrade compared to the previous model!
really moving to the cheapest parts they can get away with
The only good cheapening solution was getting rid of the engine cover! Most useless thing ever invented!
To be fair, my 2018 Jetta is the SE trim level, which has a lot more features and a nicer interior, while this is the base model, which was rather plain-looking inside even in the previous Jetta.
Do you feel turbo kick in? Does it have any lag?
There is no perceptible turbo lag in normal driving. Only when you floor it do you feel the lag a little bit.
One hell of a machine 😁
Not surprising to see them cut corners after dieselgate. It cost them a lot, and it continues to do so. All in all, i still think it's a decent car, if not a bit pricey for what you get.
I live in europe, and these are very common here. The 1.4 version is a very good car indeed. Not too many problems with them, but the DSG gearbox is quite pricey to fix when it breaks.
no this car is not sold in Europe
@@mipmipmipmipmip call it a passat if that makes you happier
@@detaart this is a different car
@@detaart Wikipedia: "As with its predecessors, production of the all-new 2019 Jetta will continue at Volkswagen's Puebla, Mexico Assembly Plant. The all-new Jetta will reach Volkswagen dealerships in the U.S. in the second quarter of 2018. A GLI model with a multi-link rear suspension is expected to come as a 2020 model. However, this new seventh generation Jetta will not be sold in the European market. "
@@mipmipmipmipmip yeah I think the last "Jetta" sold in Europe was called a "Bora" if I recall correctly

*attention the engine is running* “Yea hopefully it is”🤣
The manual key is a great thing! Push button start is problematic!
What a boring piece of metal. Good review.
i gotta test drive one over the cratered moonscape roads of my little town, if it filters out all that road rash, then i'll know this car might be for me.
It's like they put a badge on a yawn.
bandwagon240 this generation took a step backward.
If you are thinking to buy a new VW JETTA 2019, think twice.
I bought this car in May 2019. The 8 speed automatic transmission, beside making a grinding noise when is driving at a constant speed of 30 to 40 miles per hour (+/_ 1,200 RPM), make an annoying vibration. The service department and the VW representative said that the vibration and noise are normal. I think this is the most ridiculos answer that I ever heard from a car manufacturer.
I when to different VW dealers and drove a brand new car and all have the same problem. Be careful when you test it, maybe you will not notice it at the beginning.
Just type in Google "Jetta 2019 transmission problems" and you will see.
Pd: This happens on roads not very steep as we have in florida.
Thanks
im prettty sure vw uses dual clutch transmission, yeah i know its still automatic transmission but people tend to confuse it with torque converter automatics when they hear the generic "automatic transmission". Also the S mode im pretty sure stands for Sport, it makes the gearbox shift at a higher RPM, usually at max RPM. I drive a skoda fabia model 2016 that borrows the 1.2 tsi 110 hp engine (yeah i know 110 hp sounds a little gnarly...but 9.4 sec to 100km/h or around 60miles/h is ok for around where i live, considering the speed limit on highways is 130km/h or around 80 miles/h) from vw and the dsg transmission. pretty happy with it. other than that a great overview :)
No DSG anymore in the Jetta (except maybe in the GLI when it arrives). It uses a conventional torque converter 8-speed automatic.
I was wondering that. Very impressive MPG then. In the UK the official MPG for the DSG is better than the manual, which at the time saved me about £110 a year Road Tax.
If you could do it sometime, review a Volkswagen GTI either new or old.
Nice!
It's unfortunate about the manual transmission availability across all auto makers. I have a 2016 Accord Sport that is a manual. The CVT is boring and troublesome......
Ima fan Everyone says they love manuals. No one buys them. Car companies build what sells. :-/
+Ima fan I'm european, so for me its more simple-practical-own-control manual, but the new "automatics" are not real automatic, they are sh*tty CVTs :(
you're lucky at least, malaysian (myself) had it worse, 90% of new car are automatic and nobody sell a manual car, you can't even get a honda civic with manual in malaysia :(
It depends on the car. My Golf 1.4TSI has a 7 speed DSG gearbox. VWestlife mentioned that this one has 8 speeds so I guess it is also a DSG. Does it have paddle shifters ? (not that I ever use mine).
I think the horn sounds cool and when you drive in these car's in Mexico the horn is designed that way to avoid aggression.
On older Mercedes S-Class cars you could switch between a "city horn" that sounded like this, or a louder "country horn".
@@vwestlife regardless I still find it to be a good car and the other one I like is the old 1979 🐇.
It reeks of cost cut to me. I'm surprised about how much rear overhang these have, I'm not complaining, I just haven't seen too many cars with that style anymore.
I had a problem with my driver side heat in my 17
It makes me crazy that VW still has you move the auto-stick forward to go up, which is the opposite of what it should be.
Oh, the horn reminds me of an old Beetle.
came across this video. as a MK6 Jetta owner, recently moved on to Mk7.5 Golf, I passed on the MK7 Jetta as everything seems to have gone downhill for VW. Their exterior and interior design have been pretty underwhelming. Closer and closer to what cheap chevy cars look like.
VW sales keep dropping partially because of Dieselgate but also because VW tried to Americanize it''s cars. Americanizing cars seems to mean turning them into soft wallowing Camry clones. And Camry buyers refuse to buy anything not Toyota as anything else is unreliable in their minds. Instead of sticking with their niche which was affordable but engaging and sporty cars. Mazda seems to be about the only automaker left who sells to this market as all the other automakers seem to build boring camry clones and are more focused on building dull CVT crossover appliances.
Honestly - a new 2019 loaner trunk doesn't even stay open? Volkswagen AG sure knows how to build 'em right.
can't tell if cars used more plastic in the 90s or now
I assume the infotainment system in this car works with Bluetooth so I imagine that a lot of Jetta owners would also use Bluetooth since most people are playing music through a Bluetooth capable smartphone. While Bluetooth audio is not as good sounding as the old fashioned analog 3.5mm headphone connection, in a car that is less of an issue with the usual noise level of a car. Only people using a older iPod or other MP3 player would have to worry about using a 3.5mm audio in jack.
VWestlife you should do a crossover video with Techmoan where you review a car AND a dashcam. I'd do Patreon just for that to help pay for the flights! Anyway, that internal trim does look really cheap and plasticky.
No stability-control off button?
I believe you can turn it off through the car setup menu in the radio.
Interesting how this will be the first Jetta ever to not be sold in Europe
Very good review.
They should all be available with manual transmission . Cars and trucks. My contractor has 95% automatic trucks. Volvo and freightliner. Hate automatic because harder to work on and can't expect it to last long with a rebuild. Got better fuel mileage in a standard. Lol Newark airport or jfk. You can hear the jets woooooo. Bet you're used to that every day. I hate to say this it looks like a Toyota camry. Or corolla the body and lights . No car looks different or distinct anymore. .glad no engine cover. No need of that bs. Garbage.
The longer I watch the review , the more I am sure it's an overpriced cheap box
The price is actually lower than the previous Jetta, and for $18k it's a big, comfortable, economical car -- much nicer to drive than other cars in that price range like the Nissan Versa.
VWestlife I would get this over a used car. Mostly since I know it would have an immaculate service history but also the fact that I keep my cars clean.
Bought the base model . Very happy . Alloy wheels standard.
Currently going on 1 year of owning this car, exact model & needless to say i havent had any issues with it. Smooth ride & no mechanical issues what so ever. Great car & great price.
@@juancarlosmoreno6223 did you buy it new or used? What price would you recommend someone who’s looking for a 2019 -2020 model S
They might be expecting drivers to connect their phones via BT rather than USB. The last 3 phones I've bought use USB-C and I need to buy little adapters for USB. Some manufacturer will probably address this someday.
Dan O'Connor For some reason only BMW offers wireless Apple CarPlay otherwise I suspect most people would be connecting wirelessly via Bluetooth.
I have a 2019 Golf Sportwagen S, now with 30,000 miles. The dash layout is better than the Jetta, the four louvered vents are at face level. No CD player, no big deal, I have 128GB SD card in the slot below the infotainment screen. Lets see a CD hold 5000 songs. With the 6 speed manual I avg over 40 mpg at 65 mph. Wagons are much more practical than sedans, but VW wants folks in NA to buy their SUVs, so no more VW wagons for NA. Folks in the rest of the world can still get a Golf or Passat wagon.
You scared me for a sec there. Thought you traded in.
Also 6 speed fanual!
Nice review but the car seems quite underwhelming. Less space inside was a surprise. Why does every new car have to be bigger than the previous model ? My Golf MK7 only just fits through my mothers driveway gate. By 2060 the VW Up will be the size of a Passat :-). It will be very interesting to look at the Golf MK8 to see the similarities and differences to the Jetta you just reviewed.
The radio, You have to press Sound and turn bass etc up
As I said in the video, I did just the equalizer and it still sounds worse than the stereo in my 2018 Jetta.
New Jetta trunk will stay open, you need to lift up past the lock in position. Just lift it higher you can feel then it'll stay.
I know, I mentioned that at the end of the video.
