@xikiloz8193 I'm not 100% sure about the w/t model but I think it is possible. You need to either reprogram your Custer with a tech 2 device or just find a Custer that has these options from the factory. Try ebay or a local junk yard. Hope this helps and good luck 🙂

@xikiloz8193 the key is getting one that has those options. GM went all crazy different on many trucks. If you can pull one from a truck that you can look that Vin up to see what the truck had from factory, would be best. You can use a Vin look up website like this www.free-vin-decoder.com/

After I installed my steering wheel buttons, I had a lot of problems trying to get the PAC to stay programmed. I then got an iDataLink Maestro SW, and it worked first time, and it's been rock solid. The programming was far easier as well, because it's done with a Web interface on your computer. This is super convenient for dual assigning buttons. For example, I have my Seek buttons to go forward and back on tracks for short press, but then forward and back on albums for long presses.

I did not have any luck with the pac SWI-CP2. I just ordered the Maestro SW. Can you tell me what wires you used to bypass the the canbus? I have already located the green wire on the clock spring and the resistance changes with each button press. The maestro should be here tomorrow. Any help with the wiring would be appreciated. Thank you.

Great video man. I just did the steering column and steering wheel swap but am having an issue. In your video you said the interface has to be analog and not CANBUS. Do you know why that is? I ask because my previous non SWC set up was a Crux SOCG-17C interface which is just a chime interface. I ordered the Crux CS-GMC2 which is their SWC interface. This comes with a wire that you plug into the back of the head unit instead of tapping into the harness. I’m getting a trouble light that says “CAN not recognized”. That’s why I ask why it has to be analog instead of CANBUS because this interface is supposed to be plug and play. I called Crux and they weren’t much help.

If you want the extra cluster functions you need a cluster that came from the factory with those functions or have yours flashed. If you want your factory radio to work with the steering wheel controls, you need to have the bcm flashed to support this function. Of course this is all after adding proper clockspring harness and steering wheel with controls. If you have an aftermarket radio you need to ad a steering wheel controls adapter and tap into that green wire as I mentioned in the video. If you go that route then bcm does not need to be flashed. But low and behold I unsoldered and resoldered a new wire and everything has worked perfectly since. Now I'm not sure if your issue is the connection to the green wire like it was for me but definitely try that along with the other things I tried. Make sure you have a good soldered connection. The pac swi-rc reads the resistance from each button press to know which button is being pressed so a good solid connection is a must. Good luck man and don't give up even though you may want to. skoop2003 I am trying to do the same thing on my end. I believe the easiest way to do it is to buy a complete clockspring harness from 03-06 Silverado/Sierra 2500 Truck with steering wheel control options (those only have one one plug for the airbag like 99-2001 Models) and adapt it to the current column you have on your truck with the 03-06 Style Steering Wheel. You would have to tap in to the power and button control wires only from that new clockspring harness you bought to make the buttons work with your aftermarket car stereo and for that you would need another adapter. Hope you understood very difficult to explain. I will let u know if I follow through with everything on my truck.
