You get a like, not just for the recipe, but for showing the "after" of the glazing like you said, the cut and the texture of the glaze when you put a finger or spoon to it. It cn easily get rubbery if the recipe is incorrect, so THANK YOU for showing that
Thank you for appreciating that! That’s one of the reasons I decided to make this video, because what we see on social media is just the pretty part and one doesn’t really know what to expect from the texture
Your tutorial is extremely easy to understand and the end result is lovely! I am certainly going to include a mirror glaze confection in my Tea-time events. Thank you very much for your easy-to-follow instructions and suggestions. Beautiful!
I am so glad I found this recipe. First time mirror glazing a cake, it worked perfectly as per your video and recipe. Thank you so much!! Love from Canberra, Australia ❤💖
I’ve just made this glaze. It was super easy. The only problem I had was getting it down to temp 32°c as room temp was 36°. I put it in the fridge to cool, then had to work very quickly pouring it and get the cake back into fridge to set. It looks good, thank you.
Thank you so much for adding in the post-pour instructions as well as the served look/taste. That was incredibly helpful! If I wanted a chocolate brown glaze, could I use the regular baking chips or still use the white ones and go with a dark cocoa powder?
Hello Nicky, thank you so much for your tutorial, it was clear and easy to follow. My cake came out absolutely beautiful, professional looking I must say myself. I wish I could send you a picture of it.
Hello from South Africa.I am going to attempt a chocolate and orange flavour cake doing the mirror glaze for my grandson's 21 st.Where do I find the quantities for this glaze? Thank you for the awsome video. Bev. I found it, thanks
I’d love the cake recipe please as this one is very smooth most cakes are too crumbly to get this lovely finish I’m wondering if it’s possibly a cheesecake
Does the buttercream on the cake need to be white/lighter for the effect to be better and can it be poured onto a dark chocolate buttercream for example? Also can you use gelatin leaves instead of powder?
Do a lighter colour to be on the safe side. I’m sure a darker colour buttercream would be fine for like a red mirror glaze but especially if doing a lighter mirror glaze, do a lighter buttercream. Also, yes you can use gelatin leaves just weight out the equivalent amount.
I would like to glaze a cake this coming Halloween. After looking at some other videos, I will try yours, since it will be my first time trying this. I have a couple questions for you: - What to do with the rest of the glaze? The glaze that is on the pan? Can you recuperate it, in a jar or something? - I want to try this glaze on a rolled cake/ yule log. Can it be done? Am I going into hard work? Thank you.
Hello, Thank you for sharing, Please tell the size of the heart cake mold and the cake recipe, and how long does this mirror glaze withstand at room temperature? Thank you
I've been wanting to try this recipe & love how you show the steps. I have a Knox powder gelatin (is this ok?) & gel sheets (how many would I need for this recipe instead of powder?}.
Ideally yes but it can hold outside for maybe a couple of hrs , depending if you cover a mousse cake for example then ideally it’s always sitting in the fridge 😊
Hey Nicky! Thanks so much for the video. Just a quick question: the recipe showed at the beginning of the video doesn't match the recipe written in the description, which one should I use?
Yes you can, as long as you’re not adding too much liquid Also it depends on the brand and the strength of the colour but it’s generally harder to get the desired intensity with liquid food coloring but just try with what you have Sending you success vibes!
Can you help? I want to be able to coat my homemade ice cream shaped like an apple with coloured mirror glaze but it has to be cold to pour over it and I won't be able to leave it in the fridge to soften up. I have seen lots of ready-made glazes that say they can be used on ice cream, but they are really expensive to buy, and I don't need such huge quantities.
would you use the same amount of dark/milk chocolate as the white chocolate to make another type of chocolate mirror glaze? i'm planning to make dark chocolate glaze using this recipe but not sure if i subtitute the chocolate it will affect the texture of the glaze!
Hi there! I have also a recipe for dark chocolate mirror glaze, the consistency is thinner but the reflective surface effect is the same You can check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/pcb4ZdUli_E/v-deo.html 😊
Thankyou for this the glaze turned out amazing, but it was over a strawberry mousse dome and the pips of the strawberry are showing through as it's not opaque. Poured at about 33 degrees. Should I pour when the glaze is cooler or will this always show through? Thanks 😊
Good question, what i would do to get a thicker coating is what you suggest already try pouring at a lower temperature, you can coat the back of a spoon and see how it drips, if still too fast then let it cook a couple of degrees further Hope this helps 😉
I think you can pour the second coat although it could peel off the first layer of the temperature of the cake is too high, so just be careful with that 😊 For blending? Hmm maybe a food processor with short pulses a blender would add too much air but could still work Hope this helps!
Never mind I just saw the recipe. I don’t know how I missed! Sorry to bother you. The cakes fabulous. How important is to use condensed milk? Many thanks. 🥂
OMG THIS WAS AN AMAZNG FULL EXPERIENCE for mirror glazing thank you, I loved the whole video especially the after part when slicing !!! Great job

Best mirror glaze I saw so far.do you have a recipe for your cake?
Good afternoon! Do you happen to have the recipe modified for American cooks? Thank you for a great video!
beautiful cake! Do you have a version of your cake recipe to share with us?
This is fabulous and thank you so much for the easy instructions. I will buy an immersion blender! Beautiful job!
Thank you! I love having an immersion blender as it can be super handy in several situations
Enjoy!

Excellent video and explanation indeed! 👌You have a new subscriber ! Good luck ! 🖖💖💐
That’s great! Thank you for the feedback 🥰
What a brilliant tutorial, thank you. Would this work for eclairs? You said you should pour the glaze onto a frozen cake/dessert.
If I don't have a hand blender can I use the mixer function of the whisk?
Thanks so much you are amazing with your work and teaching, take care.
Thank you for your kind comment, I appreciate it very much 🙏
Very well explained. Could you please tell me what type of white chocolate do you use. Thanks in advance.
excellent question! I use coverture chocolate from callebaut or Valrhona
Hope this helps!
Thank you very much.
Such usefull video with deeply explaination thank you ma'am 💕💕
Glad you think so, thanks for your comment!
That looks amazing!!! If you dont mind me asking what would it be a good brand of white chocolate to used
And also if im doing a chocolate moose and wanted to do a black glaze would i used dark chocolate or white and just color it?
My favorite ones are callebaut and valrhona, I’m not sure if they are available everywhere though
Good luck x
Thank you for sharing, Will mirror glaze cake needs to stay in the fridge?
Ideally yes but it can hold outside for maybe a couple of hrs , depending if you cover a mousse cake for example then ideally it’s always sitting in the fridge 😊
Wow! Well detailed video... Thanks for sharing u just got a new subscriber here.💕
Thank you so much for the kind words! Happy to have you as a subscriber ❤️🙏
It’s great but I have one question, what we can use instead of gelatine? Please answer me.
Wonderful...is there a written recipe
When u put cake to the mold is butter cream ?
Is the cake frosted or is the glaze the frosting? I’m new to baking at this level.
That looks Amazing Very Nice Job !!
Thank you so much!
Hey Nicky! Thanks so much for the video. Just a quick question: the recipe showed at the beginning of the video doesn't match the recipe written in the description, which one should I use?
❤
Sorry it’s confusing, the written one is a more general amount and the one in the video is specific to the mould I used 😊
Wow beautiful glaze
Can i use honey
what is the bloom strength of the gelatine you used in this video?
Most glazes use 200 or more bloom strength
Awesome tutorial!!! Thank you so much!!
Thank you for taking the time to leave a kind word ❤️
You are amazing! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you so much! Glad you liked the video 🥰
I try absolutely this recipe
I hope you like it! 😊
Can the white chocolate be replaced with milk chocolate?
What can I use if I don’t have an immersion blend?good job thanks for sharing
Oh good question, something that can work is a normal blender or even a food processor but trying to avoid creating too much air 😊
Thanks for your reply
Thank you for the recipe. You made it look easy!
With everything already prepared it should be easy and fun! Glad you liked the recipe ❤️
Is Glucose Syrup what I’m looking for?
?
Looks amazing, would it work fairly same for a round 3 tire sponge cake? And if so what type of crumb coating would you recommend? 🤔
It should work, I would use it with buttercream :)
Would this still work if I used a vegetarian substitute to the gelatine? Like Veggiejel /agar agar etc x
A great video, thank you so much an Amazing recipe!!!!
Thank you! 🙃
I used this and it worked great!
Yay! So glad this worked out for you! Enjoy 😊
Amazing .good job
Thanks a lot 😊!
Will u coat the cake with butter icing before applying the mirrow graze
Do all the cakes have to be frozen prior to being glazed? Or do all grazed cake need to be ice cream cakes.
Can I use liquid food coloring? I’m trying this in the morning I hope I get an answer back by then😩 plus u made it look sooo easy♥️♥️♥️
Yes you can, as long as you’re not adding too much liquid

Thank you for taking the time to say that!
Thank you dear thank you so much 😌
Very nice explanation
Thanks a lot!
Thanks, its nice and easy.
Glad you think so 👍
To make a chocolate glaze can I substitute Dark chocolate for the white?
What red food colour did you use? Could you please share, thanks!
Lovely ❤
Wow, looks so delicious 😍
Thank you so much!
Hi. Nice video. What did you use to cover the cake before glazing it?
It’s a milk chocolate mousse 😍
Can you help? Can gelatin be replaced with agar? because most of the gelatin sold at my place I can't consume
How long does the mirror glaze shine last for?
Hmm about 2-3 days in the refrigerator 👍
@@BakingNicky Thank you!
Is it possible to mix the mirror glaze and food coloring with only a spatula
What if i need a clear glaze? Do I stop at the step before putting the white chocolate in?
Could we skip the glucose, because in my area couldn't find it?
Hello, how much use of Gelatine Sheets if we don't use powder?
Thank you
Well explained. Thanks
Glad you found it useful!
How long the be on display? Will it start melting at the party

Hi friend can I use agar intead of geletin?
Can i use this to chocolate moist cake covered w / chocolate ganache...?
great vid thx, please help i can never find glucuse
Can we bake it in silicon mould?
Thank you so much it's great job
Thank you! 🙏
May I know what kind of cake for this glaze cake ?
which brand red food color did you use?
Can I use this glaze to decorate a cookie?
For covering it’s fine to use 👍
can i use Knox gelatin? we dont have that kind of gelatin you use, thanks advanced
I googled Knox gelatin and I think it can work, the strength is close to what I have which is 250ish 😊👍
10 grams of powdered gelatin is equivalent to four gelatin sheets :)
Never mind I just saw the recipe. I don’t know how I missed! Sorry to bother you. The cakes fabulous. How important is to use condensed milk? Many thanks. 🥂
Hmm pretty important to achieve the mirror effect I’d say
