I had the privilege to watch Floyd rehearse the Pulse tour in a disused airplane hangar at the former Norton Airforce Base, every night for several nights. Then Hubs and I got tickets to two different gigs ( Jack Murphy Stadium San Diego , and The Rose Bowl ) I have attended concerts all over the world for over 50 years and I can truly say this tour was the greatest spectacle and the greatest music I have ever enjoyed. And remember this was long before LED lamps. Those lights were HOT. The band were flawless and trust me they were working.

Saw this 5 times >outdoor needed FAA clearance ( lasers). they used all 300,000 watts of power assisted by 3 power trucks. This 1 of 5 songs from the "Wall" that they were allowed to play. Roger got the rest of the rights to the "Wall"when he left the band. Their last concert after 14 days in a row sold out. People walking out after this being very quiet as what they just saw.

"It changed my life" - Same. I was 18 (Division Bell having been released in the States on my b-day) taking my first uncertain steps into adulthood, and it literally, indelibly stamped into my brain what live performance "should be". Arguably for the worse, because that was a stoopidly high bar, and no one since has even come close with the possible exception of Muse's Resistance Tour.

And not one effin' cell phone in the house. The audience used all of their senses to take it all in, able to experience the ebb and flow of energy between the band and themselves. Eyes and ears wide open creating lasting personal memories.
Experience life live! Don't get tunnel vision by focusing on your smart phone. Whatever you record at a show on your phone, you'll likely never watch anyway.

The full Wall is a must.....the lyrics on this are really interesting and foreboding - one of my favorite parts:
"And if you're taking your girlfriend
    Out tonight
    You'd better park the car
    Well out of sight
'Cause if they catch you in the back seat
    Trying to pick her locks
They're gonna send you back to mother
    In a cardboard box
    You better run!"
Love the lyrics...so descriptive and ominous. Roger Waters is a genius at lyrics.

This is why I say that I almost pity the folks in the first 10 rows; their eyes, ears, and chests as this attack on all sensory input exploded. Floyd played LOUD, even in their more serene moments. I was doing my best 'Memorex guy' impression from my mid-crowd vantage point (younger folks, google and giggle). What. an. ending. Also, people who know The Nile Song can attest, there's definitely precedent for Floyd turning the volume all the way up going nearly all the way back, but it's still kinda hilarious to me that this is the same band who did A Pillow of Winds and Grantchester Meadows. :-D

If there's anyone who can inspire you to become an electric guitarist, it's him. With STEVE HOWE, one of the most fluid and delicate fingerings (and without an orgy of notes!); and one of the most signed sonorities. GILMOUR and HOWE were my models and they never made me regret having chosen them. Grand! About them, only superlatives. Thanks.

Love your reaction and the Floyd. One question, though. Why does no one ever take note to the fact that the stage lighting changes color constantly? Watch it again and pay attention to the lighting...ROYGBIV...the colors of light projected through a prism. And at the end, the colors join and go back to white light. Personally, I find that to be an absolutely brilliant subliminal message. But perhaps that's just me.........................

Iniziavano i loro concerti con SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND e terminavano con RUN LIKE HELL
    La perfezione . Sempre ! 🔝🔝🔝

Of course I will say, can't go wrong with PF or this tour-only thing wrong is that Roger Waters had already left the band at this point. But everything I've seen from this tour was beyond EPIC. Hope you are doing well, Brandon. The studio version has a cool intro but it is much shorter than the concert. I've probably already done this countless times, lol, but I highly encourage you listen to the entire album of The Wall-even on your own time. It is a very deep, emotional and dark album due to its storyline-stunning lyrics, stunning music-another one of their many masterpieces. Sorry if I'm a broken record, lol.

Don't get me wrong, this is an awesome spectacle and a great rendition of a classic Pink Floyd song, but I really think Roger Waters is missed. Their in-fighting notwithstanding, they were magic together as a supergroup and the breakup was tragic. I also am not really into the pyrotechnics and consider it a crutch that lesser bands use to mask lesser music. I don't mean to come off as overly negative as I also really love this performance...especially David Gilmore's guitar wizardry.

Roger is the predominant voice on this one and he never sounded so shrill and panicked as he does on this song. They were trying their best to duplicate his emotion here, but it's just not quite the same. And no, the opening in the studio version is not nearly as long as it is here. That sound effect that you hear in the middle are skinheads chasing down people of color, gays, etc. under the leadership of Pink's now full blown insanity. Very dark album. None of this comes across during the live version as it is performed just as if it's any other hard rocking anthem. It is a full-on assault on the senses... blinding, deafening, and during the stadium shows those fireworks go well up into the night sky. You stumble out of the stadium slightly shaken, squinting, waiting for your hearing to return and wondering what the hell just hit you.

Ah, so one day I will hear Roger's chaotic vocals on this one....Yes, I read how they even hired a real gang for the movie. Sensory overload for sure!! Thanks for tuning in!

@@retroreactions.... In an interview Roger said he spoke to some of the skinheads they had hired during the movie production and was absolutely terrified at how seriously they were taking their role. They actually had to be reminded this was only a movie.
