    I was at 2 of the Earls Court gigs and let me tell you, I've ever been the same. When we left the gigs, the crowd was almost silent, we were so stunned by what we'd seen. I remember standing on the platform in the tube station and it was just full of people staring at each other with that "WTF just happened!" look in their eyes. Cuddly Uncle Dave had washed our heads, wrung us out and hung us up to dry and we were all just speechless. No- one has ever come close to achieving what the Floyd did on that tour.

    This tour played to 5.5 million people in 68 cities; each concert gathered an average 45,000 audience. Three stages leapfrogged around North America and Europe, each 180 feet (55 m) long and featuring a 130-foot (40 m) arch resembling the Hollywood Bowl venue. All in all, the tour required 700 tons of steel carried by 53 articulated trucks, a crew of 161 people and an initial investment of US $ 4 million plus US $ 25 million of running costs just to stage.

    Saw them in Philadelphia in 94, I was 21 and it was my first big venue concert. I was with my parents -my dad is a big fan & my mom surprised him with tickets - and it blew me away. Seen many bands since and they remain my #1 show - it was truly an experience that left a lasting impression. The energy, the lights & lazers, the music..just no words to describe it.

    The red guitar is played by Guy Pratt he was personally hired by David after Roger left, he has played with just about anyone who matters from MJ to Madonna to Paige and was also a member of Icehouse who were quite big in Britain, Europe and Australia in the 80's and had a huge number 1. Check out his discography for the full details, either that or read his book ' my bass and other animals ' very funny book.

    This is just a thrilling live performance! Some background on the song: 'The song is written from the narrative point of view of antihero Pink, an alienated and bitter rock star, during a hallucination in which he becomes a fascist dictator and turns a concert audience into an angry mob...The music was solely written by David Gilmour (one of three songs on The Wall for which Gilmour is credited as a co-writer), and the lyrics were written by Roger Waters.' Roger Waters sings the original vocal in the studio recording and Gilmour does it in these Pulse concerts. Guy Pratt, the bassist who replaced Roger Waters after 1985, does the co-lead-vocal in the Pulse concerts (and Guy Pratt also continues to perform with Gilmour on his solo tours and Nick Mason, as well, most recently).

    This was probably one of the smallest venues for this tour. They mostly played sold out stadiums, many of them with more than 60,000 in the crowd. Earl's Court here "only" had room for something like 20,000 people.

      @elausente21 2 роки тому +1

      That's right, they played really big places... this was indeed the smallest one, and indoors, the effects were greater in the open stadiums. I saw this concert the three nights in Toronto with sold out 76,000 people each night... unforgettable experience. They were using extremely powerful, isotope-splitting copper-vapour lasers. These gold-coloured lasers were worth over $120,000 apiece and previously had only been used in nuclear research and high speed photography, video cannot replicate the enormous sound of the Turbosound Flashlight system that was used on a full-scale stadium production for the first time, on this occasion delivering no less than 232,000 Watts of unbridled music power, in Quad sound!...

    • @OrangePony75
      @OrangePony75 2 роки тому

      True! Here in MX City they sold out a couple dates at a stadium built on an old F1 circuit. They only didn’t brought the blimp bc it’s very near of an international airport. Everything else was just like in the DVD.

I was third in line to get tickets at the Ticketmaster outlet which I camped out overnight for, and the ENTIRE floor of the DOME was sold out before I even got to pick my tickets!!! Needless to say this was the BEST concert I have ever been to before or since, and I've seen almost all of the top name acts for the concerts I've been to since 1969 and beyond. (I still have the ticket stub from this concert, too!!) The last three songs in the encore were performed in this order - "Wish You Were Here", "Comfortably Numb" and "Run Like Hell".

    Look up the word ‘musician’ on Wikipedia and it will show you a picture of Guy Pratt.

    @Reaction In Action. I was at that concert with my then 15-year-old son. His eyes were out on stalks the whole time. Great reaction by the way, now watch Run Like Hell from the Pompeii concert.

    It's an indoor arena in Earl's Court , London. They played 3 nights there and sold out every performance. One of the few great live events in music history. I doubt the Bass player was even born when PF started out in 1965 .

      They played 14 nights not 3 nights at Earl’s Court on October 1994 and the bass player Guy Pratt was born in 1962.

    Just to correct your opening comments, Run Like Hell was the closing number in the concert, nothing followed it. Although Pulse was a World tour this concert was recorded at Earl's Court which is an exhibition centre in Kensington London, it was an indoor concert, not a stadium. The other encore (which was actually the first, was "Wish You Were Here", then Comfortably Numb, finally Run Like Hell. Try "Sorrow" next.

    To think that Pink Floyd was the absolute cutting edge in the psychedelic scene when LSD was LEGAL in 1960’s London and they are still an incredible live experience today is just awesome.

    Fancy reacting to Steve Vai - "Whispering a Prayer" (Live At The Astoria)
    or any live version of Rush - Spirit of radio.
    All the best from the far north of New Zealand!

    The intro on the album version is much shorter, but they weren’t trying to hype up the audience in the studio. It’s a different dynamic live. They wanted to build up the drama on the intro and (IMO) it was worth it.

    "Comfortably Numb" from the same venue, same album. If you think this was good then Comfortably Numb will just BLOW YOUR MIND!!... It was recorded live at Earl's Court in London (inside venue - not a football field as you hint at in your reaction. The best thing was I was privileged to see them on their last night there when this video was being recorded so what you see is what I saw.... It was amazing...Turley AMAZING. The last effect you see was the explosion of the ring of lights. My friends and I were sat about 15 rows back from the centre stage area and it almost blew us off our feet!!..>Best concert I have ever been to. Nothing has equalled it
