Thanks for the memories Dutch Pilot Girl. I’m was an Inflight Manager with SQ after flying for 42 years retiring in 2020 just as Covid started in our part of the world. I remember the times before 9 11 when cabin crew were allowed to be seated in the cockpit jump seat for takeoff and landing and coming home to Singapore was always a thrill and I never got tired of it. So thanks again for the memories 😃
I actually got to be in the jump seat when I flew from Frankfurt to Düsseldorf, i was part of staff travel as my mum worked for the airlines. What was also crazy is that this was in 2003…. Surprised they let me have the seat but I think it was the last seat left on the flight or else I would not of got on.
In the early 2000a I worked as a consultant to the airport authority there on certain design issues and hubbed from there while doing work in Thailand, Indonesia, and East Timor. It was always a joy to return to Singapore from those places because everything just worked. Their dedication to cleanliness and order is legendary and well-founded. At that time the airport employed over a hundred women whose only job was to clean and water all of the plants in the terminals.
@DutchPilotGirl Hoi Michelle, hoe kan het dat je minstens 20 Facebook-accounts hebt? Waarom zoveel? Sommige accounts hebben helemaal geen vrienden. Dat is raar.
I have been there more than 30 times for business from the early 80’s to late 2020’s the country has really changed over time and it’s my favorite place in Asia. Thanks for memories!
Wow, I've been into aviation for a while, but I learned so much from this video. It was so clear and precise in showing the exact visual and technical details a pilot is looking at while flying, and explaining everything with simple symbols without unnecessary commentary. Plus, the silence is perfect because it kinda allows us to immerse into the cockpit and feel like we're flying the plane through the eyes of the pilot. For the first time ever, I felt anxiety while you were landing, because I truly almost felt like I was flying the plane, and I was imagining myself trying to land that majestic 777 without any localizer support. Idk, it was really really cool and different.
So true! Maybe I'm missing something in the details, but I wish there was a compass or another way to know which direction is North. I have a math disorder so I can't calculate anything on my own. I'll slow it down a notch and be more attentive to those details next time.
I love Singapore. Been there many times on business and a couple of times for leisure. The airport is the most efficient I ever went through - no long queues for immigration! Anyone travelling to Australia from Europe should always have a stopover in Singapore one way and Bangkok the other.
Thank you for this fantastic clip and showing / explaining the respective cockpit instrumentation. I found that informative and better able to understand your work.
Ahh... Majulah Singapura... I lived there for a few years in the 70's and recently went back to visit. The changes were a shock to my memories. Changi airport was never that big and was just for military. I was based at Tengah and the main airport was Paya Lebar..... (there were a few of us used to go aircraft spotting there - good days!) to see you bring in a triple 7 into there was a joy to watch. When we stayed on Sentosa recently we were told that the wi-fi/internet speed there is the fastest in the world. I would love to have seen this and your eventual take off live.... The word would get around and you could quadruple you subscribers in an instant! Thanks Michelle for another great vid X.
Fantastic! Another great video. Beautiful scenery (in addition to Michelle), great local info, and just the right amount of technical details. Excellent.
But I don’t believe Michelle actually did the flying. Maybe went to Singapore on the Jump seat? It’s quite an involved upgrade to 777 from the little 737.
@@salvadorrodenas3071 No idea mate… doesn’t even mention if she is doing a course to upgrade to 777. It’s just not 2-3 weeks as it can be with Airbus family. I used to fly to SIN a lot on business and I agree it is (was anyway) one of the nicest and cleanest places to visit and stay. I remember seeing the big signs about chewing gum on the taxi ride from Changi to the city - I think they were threatening a SID 300 fine if you were caught chewing it - I may have that wrong - but we should adopt that rule in Europe ! I stayed on Sentosa island whenever I could. Thanks for bringing back some good memories Michele.
It's not law, more likely a taxi company house rule. Chewing gum isn't actually illegal, just the import of it regardless of how small scale, though if it's only a small can of it they would just confiscate it for disposal.
Welcome to Singapore. This landing is also known as the Tekong Approach to the locals. There are two other approaches to Changi, the Batam approach and the City approach. The City approach is the best as if one is seated on the LHS of the aircraft, it is possible to see downtown Singapore (e.g. Marina Bay Sands, the CBD, Raffles City) prior to landing. Spot on with regards to the introduction of the local sights. The heartlands have more to offer, in terms of local cuisine. Have flown on the AMS-SIN sector twice with KLM on the board the B777, in 2012 and 2013 myself for the annual trip home for Christmas from the UK.
Thank you for the video...I was told back in the 80's that there was a barber shop at the airport at immigration in case a man's hair was too long (below the collar line). And if so it had to be cut before you were allowed into the country !!
Slight correction: 3:30 chewing gum isn’t banned in Singapore. You can chew a gum on the streets and you won’t be fined. What’s banned is the importation of gum unless it’s approved by the government for medical purposes like nicotine gums.

Former Boeing Everett... we made the Triple Seven you just landed... love the cockpit... perfect landing as well... love all the text graphics pointing out important items... cheers...
did you switch from Transavia to KLM?
Looks like it but she seems to apply low profile on that which is her fulliest right.
It is also the first video from her which I saw so far where she is not seen. Also, the video was made from the Captains side.
She was on the jump-seat
@@antohong Hmmm but then the thumbnail for the video would be tricked, I would not expect that from her somehow.
That was a great video. I’ve watched quite a few other people’s before and I like the way you do yours.
Flying a 777 now--very good!
Been there a couple of times On my way to and from Penang Island, Malaysia. Changi is a beautiful Airport. It is immaculate. I guess from Amsterdam you would go south of the Himalayas? That landing looked smooooth. Not a lot of cockpit chatter
So you fly for KLM on 737 and 777?
You don t fly for Ryanair?
Ryanair was 8 years ago! :)
@@DutchPilotGirl Oh, just found out, congratulations 👏 .
Promoted to 777?
Looks like it, and with KLM as well
@@paulmoore394 Not one frame of Michelle perhaps just a camera favour from a buddy.
I believe it’s her boyfriend / partner who is a pilot who filmed this.
Given point of camera view she was a fortunate jump-seater :)
and flying left seat!
Thank you very much! Liked, subscribed and shared. My absolute favorite UA-cam channel by far.
And this flight was from?
AMS
Amazing amount of work went into preparing this video. I am so impressed with the level of detail. Thanks!
Michelle, everybody here seem to think you are now working for KLM on the 777. It was really your boyfriend/partner flying on this one, right? You are still flying the 737 for TA ?
Just discovered this channel, you got a new sub. Loved that smooth landing!
Smoooth landing, lovely long-winged plane, lovely destination. Like the Jurong Bird gardens very much.
Very good presentation, Pilot. It takes a lot of education to learn all about airplanes, navigation, and reading the gauges; so, well done.
Well done on the video editing. I fire that aircraft for AA before retiring years ago. Good way to reminisce.
