      I had no clue how bad wise food was until I started watching a ton of videos on here and reviews on amazon how it tastes horrid. I mean, better than starving, but a week or two worth of time and old school canning would have been a lot cheaper and lasted for a fair bit. Rotate it out and eat it.

    • @101perspective
      @101perspective Рік тому +2

      @@toontown6969 Exactly. It has always confused me as to why people buy any of the prepper food at all. Just buy a year's worth of whatever you would normally eat and rotate it out. If you don't like eating it every day (or at least every other day) during normal conditions then life in the bunker is going to be exponentially worse. That said, I'm not a prepper really so not an expert or anything. Just seems to make more sense to me since your moral is already going to be pretty bad as it is.

      @Joaly nocontroly It goes to an escape hatch that is buried underneath sand at a different location from the entrance. In order to escape they have to drain the sand on top of the hatch from a little hole first. If they don't the sand can collapse on them. The sand protects them from radiation and of course keeps the hatch hidden. Then they can climb out and sneak away.

    • @Lucretciela
      @Lucretciela 5 років тому +2

      @@AtlasSurvivalShelters Yeah, who wouldn't want to have all that. But if she doesn't care if people know who she is, that's one thing... but why would you make it worse by not blocking out the background of the exterior of her bunker? Someone who knows those mountains could figure out exactly where this woman lives in a heart beat. And someone who doesn't know those mountains at all, they could also figure out exactly where she lives, it would just take a bit more time and driving. You can clearly see it from the highway. That wasn't very thoughtful of you.

    A few critiques and ideas:
    1) Storing ammo outside in the mudroom? Shouldn't it be stored far inside instead?
    2) Freeze dried food only works when you have water access. And depending on regular water access isn't reliable.
    3) Composting toilets are fucking awful and the smell will drive you nuts in a confined area.
    4) toilet/showers should be the farthest in given how they require the most privacy. A secondary shower can be in the mudroom.
    5) The bedroom should come after the showers and then the living room.
    6) Have some furniture that while usable and aesthetically pleasing can double as cover in a defensive situation.
    7) Batteries should exist in order to protect against power outages that WILL happen. Some kind of generator will also be needed.
    8) place motion detection alarms in the mudroom that will light a light in the bedroom if someone walks down the stairs. (quiet way to alert people. Have a colored bulb so that everyone knows what triggered this specific light)

    If she was smart she'd move that shed a mile or so from its current location, and thoroughly hide the real entrance. Use the"known" shed as a far distant decoy- away from her actual bunker -now that it's so well known. I'm hoping she has water that we just weren't shown or has a plan for it. Eventually she can take her trash out. Carefully. And the compost from the toilet. She could also use the compost to grow something either inside or out. With a lot of caution. She also said they are working on their electric stuff. She doesn't appear to be stupid... don't underestimate what she's got planned. Though I wouldn't have shared it with the world myself, she's still way ahead of the game... and more prepared than most people. I could only dream of having such a piece of mind. I'm also figuring that most people won't have the ability, supplies, stamina, food, water and strength to wander around some desert in hopes of finding someone's bunker. They'd most likely die trying. Think about it.

    I was in New Mexico once, found a
    English Bull dog there. Named him Al Capone. Al liked to smoke cigars but not
    just any cigars he would only smoke swisher sweets. Of course I had to keep
    lighting them for him because sometimes he would fall asleep with the cigar in
    his mouth. My wife Norabell made him a little suit with a bow tie. Al loved to
    wear his little suit. My daughter Jenna taught him how to play one of those
    little toy pianos. He played it with his nose. He only learned a couple of
    songs, but he was pretty good. A fella come out from California was gonna put
    him in a TV show, but it never did happen. He never came back or called or
    anything. One day old Al Capone was playing his piano and smoking his cigar at
    the same time, and burnt the living hell out of his nose. Hot cigar ashes was
    everywhere. Poor old Al Capone died at the ripe age of 9 years. Gonna get me
    another bull dog one day. Yep good old Las Cruses NM. I remember it well.

    Last year, a 'friend' of mine obtained freeze dried food stuffs (with a shelve life of 30 years) for just under $4,600.00s (under half of the new sticker market prices, as he shopped around until he found this deal, from a company going out of business). For this price he obtained enough freeze dried food to feed 4 adults (at 2 meals a day), for one year. If you are a Prepper, a Survivalist, &/or just a cautious person, you can also realize the same result, IF you are willing to shop around. One of the 'biggest' mistakes people (I feel) make when prepping, etc., is that they buy all these 'fancy' survival type products, when, in reality, all you really need to purchase (for your perception of survival), is (mostly) everyday items that you can obtain from places such as Cabela's, Wal-Mart, etc. As for a 'bunker, etc., most people cannot afford one, &/or most people cannot afford to move to an out of the way location (which is a debate just in itself). One recommendation I have come across, if you plan on sheltering in place, is that you build (have built) a 'secret' room within your residence. A false room, with concrete walls (?) & heavy sound-proofing, will cost you no more than $5,000.00 to have constructed, & WILL afford you peace of mind. As if some 'crooks' come calling (after an event) to take what is yours, they will only empty out the meager foodstuffs you leave in your cupboards (as a decoy), while not finding your REAL stash. Thoughts?

      We were very blessed to have a secret room in our basement when we bought our home 13 years ago. It actually took us 2 years to find it! The door didn't go all the way to the ground and the rest of our basement is just a normal rectangle. We moved a giant self and there it was! We opened the door and there was a 12×12 room built under our back yard! The door is only about 4ft tall and about a foot off the ground so with a piece of furniture in front of it, it was impossible to see! Our house is around 100 years old so I think it may have been a root cellar but considering we have a full unfinished basement I'm really not sure. But not having the money to build on of these we are really happy to have it!

      To "John Taylor". Sir, instead of being negative, why don't you add something relevant? On a side note, I am a real Soldier (Infantry, Military Police, & Logistics Officer), & I am NOT one of you "fantasy" Preppers who think you will find some purpose to your meaningless life's once the SHTF. I have a really good laugh at you negative, Rambo thinking fantasy Preppers. I feel most people who think they will have unlimited fire fights with 'crooks', are just plain delusional. People who think this way (I feel) must have a rather pathetic existence, & dream they will be some sort of saviour once the SHTF. The REALITY is if you did try stealing from others &/or shooting at others in a SHTF scenario, your existence (I know) WOULD end rather quickly, as most of these no bullshit groups are staffed by real soldiers & Police Officers, who do know how to win a firefight. As for concealment, & saving up for it, that is exactly what you do... you save up for it. Thoughts? If you do reply, please try to be constructive, as dealing with children taxes my adult brain. Cheers.

      As a real Soldier (Infantry, Military Police, & Logistics Officer), I would argue Sir, that if you did try this approach in a SHTF scenario, you WOULD be ended rather quickly by those you attempted to steal from. Why? Easy. Most of these groups have members who are real Soldiers & Police Officers, & they know how to win a fire fight. Thus I would say to you, make sure you leave a map on your person, so that the people you attempted to steal from can locate YOUR stash, & then can take what they want. Thoughts?

      @@juliacoombs5441 well said! My son is at USAFA and we live in Indiana across from Louisville. One of my biggest worries is if S does HTF we will stay separated. We don't live in this fantasy world. Like you I truly think some are excited when they think of this scenario. Those people have no real idea of how bad, bad can get. To almost look forward to that kind of life, which is no real life at all, just survival. Well you would have to have a pretty sad life right now to have such fantasies.

What happens when that goes out? I hope nothing ever happens so that she doesn’t need to use it. Very naive. This whole thing is connected to the city mains for power and water. It needs a well and some means of maintaining power. A diesel, gas, or propane generator connected to an exhaust system would be ideal. Their use of K-Cups kills me. For the love of god some dried milk and Nescafe freeze-dried coffee... Additionally they need way more food. Then there is the fact that everyone knows about it and I doubt they have propper protection.

    • @husky3g
      @husky3g 2 роки тому

      A well would be useless in the event of nuclear fallout. It would be easily contaminated from any ground water. A generator would be nice but their best bet for long-term power would be solar and deep cycle battery banks. No sound/exhaust to deal with, just wires and panels.
      Water is a hard one, though. They could store dozens of cases of bottled water and use the water in their water heater, but after that they're basically screwed. You really only need about 2 weeks (if you aren't in the blast zone) for the radiation half-life to be almost fully gone and the surface to be inhabitable again. They easily have 3 months worth of food for 2 people and could stock up enough water with the under-flood storage and extra space to store more bottled water and extend their stay time to 3 months. 3 months later, radiation is virtually gone.
      Any other disaster type virtually is over within a few days to a week. They're plenty prepared for that. Their only issue is that they show everyone where the bunker is. If you have a bunker, it needs to remain secret.

    But the Wise food...has she even tried it? Good thing Atlas SS advises people try first! I ordered a sample pack, and it tasted utterly horrible, was a weird consistency, and the serving size was like half a cup per person for a family of 4. I had to add side dishes and use rice or pasta as a base. It surprises me to even say that, as I know what it was like to eat poor growing up. For us sometimes breakfast was a slice of bread torn up with a sprinkle of sugar and powdered milk poured over, like cereal. Lunch was bread spread with dripping. Both would taste better and be more filling than the Wise food, lol. Canned chunky soup would be a much better substitute and come without the hefty price tag.

    So, is there an incinerator for disposing of garbage? Or would the bags of garbage just accumulate until the occupants decided they had to open the bunker and drag all the garbage outside?
    Is there a plan for disposing of the compost from the composing toilet or will that too just accumulate in garbage bags?
    And how would the occupants wash their laundry? Is there a washer and dryer? A scrub board, wash tub and clothesline? They will have to wear layers of clothing because that bunker is chilly all year long.
    Are the air vent pipes high enough to not get covered during a flash flood? I have heard of one family that drowned in their underground shelter when their property flooded.
    Do the occupants have the capability to monitor the area above ground while in the bunker? How will they know when it is safe to emerge from the bunker? Can they monitor the human threat, radiation levels, outdoor temperature from inside the bunker? Have the owners actually lived in the bunker for two weeks to find the hidden flaws in their plan?
