      Your right. A double weld doesn’t guarantee a water tight seal unless you X-ray the welds. But that’s costly. Also if you noticed, the vertical welds were being done down hill. Any welder knows what that means. Slag runs into the weld area meaning no penetration. Might as well use superglue. I’m in excavation. Mass earth, a sump pump isn’t needed if they install a drain field. Like a sewer system. Their excavator operator “expert” sucks to. I’ve fired better

    1. how do you get Telephone and Cell service in the bunker?
    2. how do you get radio & TV signal in there?
    3. Where do the shower and toilet's drain connect to?
    4. If the city/county power and water resources are not working, for how long can you stay down there since at some point the batteries and the generator stop working, especially if there has been an EMP?

      3. Septic tank for toilets and the water supply is chosen by clients either to house or nearby creek
      4. Power supply is solar/diesel depending on customer and is emp hardened in the case of solar and diesel generators have no elecgric components

      @@everythingluxury7 Sand melts at about roughly 1700°C (3090°F). Assuming that that nuclear air burst produces heat that is present long enough, and penetrating deep enough into the ground to melt sand deep enough to cause a problem using an escape trunk filled with sand (say a foot or so).... it is also going to be heating the ground one or two hundred feet away, deep enough to turn that bunker into an oven. Even if the temperature in the bunker "ONLY" rises to a tenth of that temperature (309 degrees F).... that's basically the temperature to bake a turkey at. And people will start dying of heat stroke within a very short period of time. The highest reported core body temperature in a patient who survived without permanent residual deficits was 46.5°C (115.7°F). This 52-year-old patient suffered from environmental heatstroke, and received medical treatment, including removal from the hot area they were in. There's no removing someone form this bunker to a cooler spot.
      On the other hand.... that presupposes that the bunker is pretty damned close to ground zero, in order to be that close to a nuclear blast. The bunkers in this video do not appear to be very close to any strategic target so that fireball should not be a factor.... just maybe a brief forest fire burning over the bunkers. which should not be a problem. All the folks have to worry most likely are: 1. The bunkers have an airventsystem which generates overpressure in the inside of the bunker, to prevent the bunker from getting radioactive particles inside. The ventystem is equippt with overpressurevents to close automatically the shelter ventilation when the Bomb explode to protect the lungs of the people in the shelter. Not to say big waterreservoir which is included in the houseinstallation that there is always an exchange and fresh water in the bunker. I'd also want it on or near a slope where the ground water can drain by gravity so no need for sump pumps that can fail and need replacement, that way it can sit a decade without power and will still be dry! Also, if they can't find it they can't damage it!

    Man; wish i could afford something like that. Have you ever thought about adding a 4" or 6" wide stripe of luminous paint along the top of the shelter, at least in the generator room, entry, bath and kitchen areas? That would cut down on lighting power needs at times when you don't need full lighting. And in case of a power failure, it would provide emergency lighting to see by.

    I'm curious about a few things;
    1 - How does the client perform maintenance on water pipes and electrical wires that run between the two shelters? It looks like any connection problems underneath the mudhouse are fatal since they'd have no way of getting to them, though this could be something that takes quite a while, be it natural degradation, or any underground wildlife finding its way under.
    2 - Do all these shelters have such a strong reliance on stored and limited goods? Two I'm most curious about is food and fuel. I can't understand this being a long-long-term solution because of them. There are too many power outlets for non-essential items, I could understand a few for entertainment, but not one on every chair. For food, it seems to be a reliability on non-perishable foods, maybe in the line of those low-maintenance military MRE's. This is a little less of an issue, since there seems to be a lot of storage, but say 24 people for one year, three meals a day, is 25,632 packaged meals needing storage, that's (at lowest average) 13 tonnes of meals, not even mentioning the actual physical dimensions (3" x 12" x 8").
    (I would also say, from what I can see, there's a number of sites saying they don't recommend using MRE's, they were just the longest lasting, most nutritiously useful, food that I could think of)
    3 - On the talk of resources, there appear to be no outlets in the kitchen area, is this just the angle of the video?
    4 - More of an issue with actual bunker design here- why is the shower the first thing you see in that second shelter? Am I the only one that finds that weird? Even with a shower curtain. Why not have the door lead immediately to the beds, then the shower, then the maintenance room? Alternatively, have the shower in the space highlighted as a shelf space, then the shower can have one opague wall facing the centre, and at least a little privacy... Call me picky.
    5 - The emergency exits, their location, seems a little too close to the main entrance and exit. I'll go past the "enemy attack" note, as I assume it's a joke, but I'm curious as to the reasoning for this? I do understand it's quite a difference to build an exit 100 miles long, but I'd personally figure the safest bet is to go at a diagonal, away from the bunker. That way any natural obstructions are slightly less likely to cover all three exits at once, and if (for some reason) there was an enemy attack, they'd have a bit of a wider field to aim for instead of just looking up a little bit from the entrance.
    None of this is anything against the actual bunker, the people who bought it, or people that continue to buy it. More so curiousity about these factors and how people get through them... I can't imagine many people have little aquaponics or hydroponics systems ready to start up in the corner of their bunkers, though. I've always been skeptical about the doomsday planners because they all seem to be preparing to start and fight wars, instead of survive anything, judging by how many guns and defense systems they stock in comparison to basic necessities (once saw a show where the guy had a single kitchen cupboard sized shelf filled with canned carrots, kidney beans, baked beans, peas, etc, and his main focus was just on getting a living room set up to be just like home...)

    This may be a ridiculous question- but since I am looking into something similar I at least want to ask...... with all the electrical / plumbing, etc located on the outside- what happens if something fails? How would you repair it? Have access to it for repair? I have looked at some "self-contained systems" but I am mildly curious as to how this works???

    • @stixbman5333
      @stixbman5333 3 роки тому

      from the looks of it, all of the piping is non corrosive steel or pvc, so they wont decay very quickly, so the only point of failure would be somebody purposefully tampering or a wire shorts out but that can be solved by just pulling the wire and pushing new wire back in the pipe. Self contained systems are as good as you make them or simply "you get your money's worth" air recyclers, water recyclers, sewage reclamation, indoor farming, are all very large, expensive, and sometimes prone to malfunction. so while its more secure as you virtually eliminate any presence of your bunker except for your main hatch and however many escape hatches you use, you will be gambling if you have no reserves/warning systems in place about system failures so you can prep to leave or have your bunker become your tomb. So having a emergency supply of food and water incase the system fails along with a geiger counter and protective suit will go a long way of making sure you keep on surviving.

      Also nice that the single shower for 24 people has a clear glass door situated at the entrance to the living quarters!
      Seriously though, it makes me curious about the design parameters for the installation. Based on water capacity and living space I'd suppose that at design occupancy it's probably intended for no more than a couple days. Sufficient for most fallout to drop out or to wait out an unmotivated attacker, but not much use in a pandemic.
      That's just my guess though, would be interesting to hear more from the designer how they spec different configurations for duration of occupancy, especially with respect to consumables like water and fuel. With flush toilets (no waterless urine disposal) and a shower the water consumption per person is going to be at least 10 gallons per day, more if they aren't careful with the shower. Presumably additional water and fuel stores can be added above-ground and plumbed in, but I've never heard them talk about that.
      Edit: I forgot about the well, once that's added I suppose the limit is fuel capacity. Solar up on the building roof would address that in all but the most extreme situations. With water and power the limits are probably sufficient for most any purpose.
