Seeing her in person is unbelievable the best show I've ever seen of hers was when she played a solo performance. She had two baby Grands on stage and straddle the piano bench and played them both It was magnificent and unbelievable
Tori, you have made a cover song of ALL of my favorite alternative rock band, turned each and everyone of them into a gut retching emotional, beautiful experience. Dam, woman you are amazing
There is nothing feminine about remembering happy memories that bring you to tears. There is nothing feminine about overwhelming emotions. I am not feminine because this song is beautiful and makes me want to cry. I want to cry because Tori Amos brings out emotions I didn't know could be felt.
I fell in love with this woman 2-3 years ago... Her voice, her life in music, her way to tell stories, and her covers are so deep and personal... She had such a deep connection with the music and her piano that she can find new meanings in this songs... Once she covered Britney Spears's "Baby one more time" and she turn that pop song into a music experience!! Tori is not human... she is god=)
I am a musician. I write songs. I have copped from Jim Morrison and Tori, and after all these years-at fifty- no one supersedes them. God bless Jim and Tori and Steve Malkmus! (And Jimmy Page and Peter Green and JeffBeck).

personalissimo modo di suonare il piano, profondo e coinvolgente in tutte le sfumature, talentuosa musicista dalla inconfondibile voce, meritevole d'ascolto anche in brani già sentiti da altri esecutori.
If you see Higher Learning, and this song was of course on the soundtrack, it adds such even more meaning. This and (was it just called "Butterfly"? Arrgh my stuff is all packed away in boxes as i live out of a suitcase - TY for YT!) were just beautiful and terribly sad. The lady knows how to reach down and pull out every emotion - and then had the honesty to bring it to us. There's no one like Tori. She is definitely so very special.
Jonathan Bennett I have come to the conclusion she might have been abused or disillusion with Christianity for a very dark reason many of her songs have this recurrent theme. She is lovely talented but you can sense her sad dark spirit intertwined in them.
This is superbly Tori doing her 1 of a kind co'vers ... and she is so damn good at interpreting ALMOST ANY OTHER MUSIC and making it her own! She is the incarnation of Picasso's famous quote, "A good artist copies...a GREAT artist, STEALS.' CUZ if u didn't know the original version, you'd swear the genus of Tori 's covers sprang straight outta her tousled, red-curl covered head. This piece is especially moving and packed emotionally...not unlike the unplugged version of 10,000 maniacs Noah's Dove. Voice and piano really are more powerful than The force of a full orchestra or even Slayer!
I love Tori's cover songs I love Livin On A Prayer House of the Rising Sun Operator I'm on Fire Let It Be Dream On All Through the Night Somewhere Over the Rainbow Landslide Thats All I can think of right now - but I know there is more
Tori, Tori, Tori .. you haven't changed since my sisters used to listen to you in the early 90s. I finally decided that even with all your talent, you were the most depressed person on the face of the earth. This would be a song that would draw you, for sure. I guess you're good to listen too like once every 10 years or something, otherwise it's too sad.
Hands down one of the best covers ever!! In my opinion this should be the original and REM's version the cover, Ying and Yang kinda like Johnny & Trent with "Hurt"
Tori Amos makes pain beautiful.
❤️💚💜💖
well said
Pain is beautiful
@@FatNebraskaMom my exact thought 🖤
Possibly the most beautiful song I've ever heard. Toriphile always and forever lol
Only Tori Amos has the capability of turning a beautiful song into something even more astounding.
Seeing her in person is unbelievable the best show I've ever seen of hers was when she played a solo performance. She had two baby Grands on stage and straddle the piano bench and played them both
It was magnificent and unbelievable
@@rosscox9674 you just described 85% of every concert she ever played. Boys for Pele was my fav and her biggest masterpiece.
Like Smells Like Teen Spirit?
The music director for Higher Learning was spot on on his choices to carry the movie.
Tori, you have made a cover song of ALL of my favorite alternative rock band, turned each and everyone of them into a gut retching emotional, beautiful experience. Dam, woman you are amazing
So true! Wish she would do way more of these covers.
14 years later and i still listen to this. This is truly magical.
There is nothing feminine about remembering happy memories that bring you to tears. There is nothing feminine about overwhelming emotions.
I am not feminine because this song is beautiful and makes me want to cry. I want to cry because Tori Amos brings out emotions I didn't know could be felt.
well, this song is from 1991 and is by REM, an all male band, so....
You sound insecure.
On repeat 20yrs later💕📩👑
I've been listening to her since 1994. She's amazing and her music is too.
Isn't she amazing?!?!..... right to the heart and soul.
Damn this is so hauntingly beautiful.
...that's Tori🎼🎼🎶🎼🎶🎶🎼🎶🎶🎼🎶🌌🌌🌙💨🔥❤🎹
Her voice gives me chills and to see her live is something words cannot express.
Seen her live twice. Its awesome.
Some of Tori's covers I already liked, some she turned me on to, but she does seem to have a knack for making a song uniquely her own.
Just lost in the beauty of this. And the grandeur of Tori's personal story. She has spurred emotions in me at so many periods of numbness in my life.
R.E.M. always gives me shivers. I have no words to describe what this one did to me.
When I heard it the 1st time, I literally laid on the floor crying.
Her voice and the Steinway. Superb.
When someone you love falls from this world. Songs like this she enjoyed have such an impact. Hail Jo. Forever will your memory resonate!
i love tori's covers.
(i edited this down from 9 sentences lol)
Its a whole new different view about Losing my religion, it make me chills😱i love it
There was a time when if you were covered by Tori Amos you had made it.
Well, REM were already big in the 80s, so it's a lil late
Since I returned home from jail after being WRONGFULLY PERSecuted I REALLY haven't had too much to say to most People... so Hey ToRI , THANKS toRy
How is such pain and beauty at the same time possible. It's haunting. And profound. Tori casting her spell again. Thank you for that.
I’ve been looking for this song since Higher Learning came out and it I was today years old when I found it! Thanks google music!!!

How to make a man cry:
1) Put on any Tori Amos song.
2) Watch him cry.
This song was originally by a band named REM. I heard her talk about it in an interview.
REM is also bigger and more iconic.
@I'm God, BEOOOTCH 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 cleverly put 👏👏👏👏👏
How to make Tory Amos cry:
1. Put on any Tory Amos song.
2. Watch the whole world cry.
then give him great head and break up with him; that'll probably work too
This totally makes the song about actually losing one's spirituality instead of about the meaning of the southern phrase, "losing my religion."
To me one of the highest masterpieces of heart wrenching lovesongs I have ever "experienced".
very nice way of singing REM's version, love her interpretation, sounds of the piano makes it complete...
Man, she is absolutely fantastic.
it is so hauntingly beautiful
oh my god.its beautiful..amazin
Totally agree. Owning a cover is something she's always done very well.
Angie is my favourite.
Angie is mine too
Love this. Comes close to the original. Tori is a true artist.
Amazing transformation. Brilliant! Thanks Tori!
tori covers will kick you in the face if you just listen
in a perfect world there would be no electoral college and every song there ever was would be covered acoustically by Tori Amos
Absolutely so ! So much inspiration, so much expression !!!

God bless Jim and Tori and Steve Malkmus!

Absolutely Jim Morrison
i have to hear your voice
I'm not even going to lie, listening to this made my eyes water.
robert boyles u to bro?
Same here. Incredible
I play this song when thinking about the past and present and the deceased, also brings a tear.
That's me in the corner
That's me in the spotlight
Losing my religion
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try
Consider this
Consider the lenghts that I would go to
A slip that brought me
To my knees
And I don't know if I can do it
Oh no, I've said too much
I set it up
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
Life is bigger
Bigger than you
And you are not me
The lengths that i would go through
Oh I've said too much
I set it up
I think I saw you try
It's me, me in the corner
Loosing my religion
Trying to keep an eye on you
And I don't know if I can do it
Oh no, I've said too much
I set it up
Thought that I heard you laughing
Thought that i heard you sing
Loosing my religion
It's me. It's me.

Amazing interpretation!

Her father was an evangelical christian. That might place this cover in context.
Jonathan Bennett I have come to the conclusion she might have been abused or disillusion with Christianity for a very dark reason many of her songs have this recurrent theme. She is lovely talented but you can sense her sad dark spirit intertwined in them.
at knife point.
