I played paintball in Hawaii and was close enough the the other team to hear them talk and one said: "Where is he?" The reply: "Next to the guy in white!" Yeah, I was the guy in white in my faded tiger stripes. The gap between the stripes is supposed to be sand colored. Once faded they are white. What kills camouflage is Tide detergent as this has "brighteners" that literally dye the material white. (Great if you want white shirts.) The US Army has to tell their Soldiers to not use detergent with "brighteners".
The only camo I wear. I had shorts made from TruSpec jungle pants. They wear like iron. Other manufacturer's shorts are high priced. They don't offer larger sizes. Cost me $8 at the local dry cleaner to have them converted. The colors are very sharp after quite a few washings. I gave the extra material to the girl next door and she made a shirt for her little weiner dog. Everyone comments the dog looks so cool all tiger striped out. And the dog won't go out without her fatigue shirt on!
My grandfather and my uncle fought for the South Vietnamese army during the war and I spent 6 years in the Air Force (a little more than 2 years in ABUs before switching to OCPs), so tigerstripe holds a special place in my heart.
Ive gottan several sets of tigerstripe, from A-TWO, Rothco, Tru-Spec, FFI, and Helikon-Tex. I would still like to get my hands on the Cryes, Platatac, and Propper. Love Tigerstripe.
4.4K views that is amazing wow keep during your channel I’m telling you you have something here. Love the tiger stripes can’t go wrong with them. What I do have to share with you is that I was very surprised how well tiger stripes work in blending you into the environment.
Like German camo reproductions, Tiger went the way of varied renditions from crap copies of bad copies. After a while they sorta just resemble the original they are trying to reproduce.. I toss a bit of Tiger into my overall clothing compliment sometimes, mix matching with other patterns..
Just got Rothco, this vintage ripstop style uniform. It looks good but have its little problems. The zip in pants is rather poor quality, but should work. Those black straps to keep pants up the ass won't work... :) Still, I think in terms of looks they are fine (if someone is looking for a kind of this vintage look). The fabric will lose its colours faster than true spec for sure, but again it depends on what one is looking for. I wanted this kind of old used look so should be happy haha. Besides, I don't wash this kind of clothes very often... If it's getting smelly then of course I will but, no earlier than that :) For this kinds of clothes, especially for some rather pricy and oryginal items, I tend to use fast ozonization process. Washing is always a bad idea folks ;)
Proppers asian tigerstripe is my favorite as for colors that work in my neck of the woods. But i like truespec as well. I think rothco is too dark. That helicon looks great.
West side of the Cascade mountains? The greener the better. Rocky Mountain forests? Spring is greener and fall is browner. I am wearing Tiger Stripe because I am playing Vietnam Airsoft. So it’s entirely based on history. But I have ECWCS in M81 for hunting. Tiger Stripe’s Achilles heel is that non of the clothing is cold weather based. But the pattern itself does quite well in dense forests while they are green. Well evergreens are always green but the bushes turn oranges and browns. I am actually playing with some flecktarn for fall now.
Not really the same, but in central Ohio woods in the spring and summer, the Tigerstripe Products pattern like he has for his Tru Spec clothes work very very well. Id say even better than m81 woodland. Woodland is often too dark and stands out. When I was heavily into paintball in the 90s, I'd wear yellow tinted lenses in my googles, or sometimes red tinted sunglasses inside my mask. You could see woodland very easily. I always wore Tigerstripe and people always commented on how hard I was to see. Watching other players with Tigerstripe, it's like the pattern would optically "grab" whatever foliage was behind you as you moved. It was kinda freaky to watch. Woodland just looked like a dark blob moving around.
Just, felt like sharing my two cents from experience. It's not based off the tiger pattern, but the ATACS FG pattern, but some same brands in here. Also have been Airsofting for the last 24 years Tried Rothco brand, top and bottom, in the ACU cut. It's a good brand for the price, but it is made to mil spec standards meaning it's the cheapest bidder kind of clothing. They didn't last very long with the colors fading within 6 months and the knee started falling apart. But, still economical. The Proper brand, for me personally, worthless. Bought three different camo patterns through the years and after the first wash they always faded out. Picked up a new pair in the old woodland scheme, UCP pattern and ATACS. Rip stop always started fraying. Don't know if it was the detergent or wash cycle or what, but surplus camo just lasted years longer and better than Proper True-Spec, for me, is where it's at. Trial and error for sizing, but customer service with them, at the time of purchasing my ATACS, was great. Have had the pattern for about 8 years now and has faded, but not by much at all and the material has held up great. Just had issues trying to find pants that fit ok in the crotch for me. The inseem on the XL was too long, so I sent in for a swap to L for a better fit. Waist is too small on me, but you really do get what you pay for with them.
@mountainadventures7346 I don't like the colors they use in the Greek lizard. The Tru spec tiger stripe has good colors minus the black. And although tiger and Greek patterns are slightly different, the Greek has a more brush stroke to it. The only simmularities between Greek and tiger are the direction of pattern. Not much else.
@@thaisonroofing1963 Have you checked out Jocko’s company? Origin? They make a couple of flavors of modern Tiger stripe camo. I think it’s called Raptor.

Use soap when washing your clothes.
No idea why one could want brightener anway.
Regular good washing detergents will to the cleaning job fine.

Tiger stripes like the ones used in the war in Vietnam are based off of the M1953 French lizard pattern camo.

I will have to check it out.
It was a two part episode when they were in North Korea
“Trust, but verify” episode
It’s basically the same pattern with a color swap, tiger stripe products is awesome
Thanks for making this video dude

Until the dirt cakes into the material and becomes abrasive and starts eating away at the fabric and stitching.
Sometimes the old pattern is called winter tiger.

The tru spec one would be awesome if they took the black out of it and replaced it with Grey or another green
