My goodness, your the one who flew into Killeen, TX and purchased all his uniforms before the estate sale! I was so disappointed when I walked in and saw it was all gone on the first day of sale being 3rd in line. Congrats to you.

The Med Kit probably goes in the Unknown Belt Pouch . All the kit should be treated with Reverance especially the Personal Letters ❤

Absolutely, unfortunately many times things like these letters end up in a landfill.

The pouch is for either the Thompson machine gun mags or the m3 grease gun mags

Amazing hall---AGAIN! The former owner of that gear took excellent care for every little item! I can’t say anything bad on that topic, I have some complete uniforms I wore of the years nicely folded and in heavy ziplock bags with a detailed note inside but it doesn’t come close to this gentleman. It stings to lose these old warriors knowing that in time, my friends will do the same, guess we all think like this. Preserving military history has been a passion since I was young but I got serious in 1993 when I bought my first surplus military vehicle and the rest is history, I owned and restored 31 of them since, the WWII Jeeps were hard to get back to complete factory original but it was worth it. Hope you’re able to buy yourself a vintage military vehicle, it’s completely legal to drive on all roads and highways and most major insurance companies will insure the vehicle.

Finally got my M1009 running. Any chance you’d let go of any of the tiger? Trying to replace paw paw’s collection we lost in a fire

    • @echohunter4199

@@Hermann-lz2jb apologies but I’m not sure what you mean when you say “Tiger”? Glad you got the 1009 running! In case you aren’t aware, the rear differential has a lower gear ratio so it doesn’t like high speeds for long periods. It’s rare that it’ll give you any problems if you’re just doing day trips or around town but if you decide to tow something for long distances, I’d consider changing out the gears on both front and read differentials.

@@echohunter4199 I actually did that already! Have been working on the CUCV for about 3 years this one was an army national guard example. New transmission is amazing. All I have to do now is some interior cosmetic work to make it look nice!
And by “tiger” I am looking for any “Tigerstripe” Vietnam war camouflage variants. My grandfather had an example of almost every variant which some he picked up in Vietnam trading with South Vietnamese troops or post war in the 80’s or so. We lost all of these in a fire in Malibu in 2018 so was just wondering if you had a set possibly you would be willing to sell or let go. I am trying to just find a shirt or a pair of pants in any variant but I haven’t been lucky so far :/

My dad was in Vietnam in 1966 as an Army Ranger, he gave me a set of tiger striped fatigues in the late 70s after we moved to a university town when he started teaching ROTC. Are any of these pieces still for sale?

I do not have one to compare it with but that unknown pouch looks similar to a magazine pouch for a Thompson sub-machine gun.

Sell that to a proper historian. Selling this to a museum will no doubt lead to them throwing most of all this in a locker and keeping it on storage.

How do you store all this stuff? I've had to stop collecting clothes due to just not having anywhere left to put them, and also make sure they don't get mouldy, but I guess if you live in a place like Texas, that wouldn't be an issue really.
