Wokies created him. Before KCD1 he wasn't very political. But after you pour your heart and soul into a first ever historical RPG, set in your country, spend 8 of your best years working your ass off, almost going bankrupt with a wife and two small kids, and finally you present your Bohemian historical masterpiece to the world and the first thing some people say is: "Ok but where are African Americans in this game?" .... I think everybody would flip the fuck out.
Damn it hurts to be in that guys shoes, sometimes stupid people just do not realize cancel mob culture destroys lives. Good thing he didnt bend the knee it will pay off hard when he releases this next game.
@@omarbl1229 to be honest the "controversy" actually helped the sales when they said they would honor what they said in the kickstarter to their original supporters and not add anything they felt would ruin the historical acuracy. It was what made me buy the game.

@@omarbl1229 To be honest, the best part of this game for me was the beauty of it. I genuinely like to walk around the map, seeing the attention of detail, the animal and plant along the way. Some of the quest requiert to five attention to these details, and as a fan of history it was amazing to see that.
No fucking black cleopatra or black joan of arc, just an healty dose of realism. The only complain i haved with the game is the lack of crossbow and polearm, which where the main weapon of the time. (it wasn't sword! )
But with the new game, it seem to me that crossbow is thing, so i'm happy they listen to the complain : )
@@Eldiran1 in another Czech Interview with Bocan, they added almost every weapon type that exited back then, except exotics like those able to break swords and morningstars - very hard to programe with physic details to every chain. Haldberds, spears and other big weapons are in this game.

although asmongold is pretty decent at manipulating his viewers and misrepresenting the people he sees as enemies, he often lets the truth slip, like here.
It's funny to me that people don't remember how vocal Daniel Vávra was in 2014 during GamerGate when he sided with the gamers. Here are some of his quotes from back then:

My mom couldn't even choose a high school that she wanted to go to because she was from a catholic family and commies hated religion. So our family never had a lot of money because she had to work low paying jobs and it influenced her whole life and even mine and those of my siblings to some extent even though we already grew up in a free country. There's also still a communist forced labour camp for political dissidents standing right outside the town where I grew up as a reminder of the awful regime. And there's plenty more reasons why most of us in Czech Republic hate commies and it's baffling to us how anyone in the West can see socialism and communism as viable options to capitalism. If only medieval fantasy had - like in the not so long past - the same authenticity and care about its setting and culture, the way that Vavra cares about his own games' authenticity. We've had it with the Witcher games and with "The Witcher 3", but CDPR is not the same company from 2016.
I'm not sure if he will be a fan of the combat, it was hard to get used to for me.

Love the game to bits, if someone asked me what the best RPG of all time was I'd say KCD. But I don't think there's a universe out there where Asmon likes this game. He'll get bored and frustrated with how useless his character is at the start.

Yeah I don't know why the industry ever adopted the "Gamers don't need to be your audience" mentality. It's suicidally stupid. Daniel was smart enough to realize that he should appreciate his fans and tried to make a good game for himself and people like him, not an invisible mob that might praise him on twitter but never bother buying his game. I'm happy we're seeing a lot more AA titles break out and realize a game for everyone is a game for no one. You can be very successful with a well made game aimed at a niche, just so long as that niche actually buys games.

He is very "based", or in other words - he's a normal, talented game developer. KCD is one of the most underrated RPG games of the past decade. The first game is incredible in the level of detail and realism of the world. The characters and the plot are also very interesting. The video presentation of KCD2 is one of the best presentation for a video game that I've seen in many years, possibly since the first reveal for GOW1 in 2016. The mainstream media and mainstream "gaming establishment" isn't advertising or pushing his games, it's all based on costumer and fans' support. His success is as authentic as it comes.

Vavra is a great guy. Probably few ppl know that he's the guy behind original Mafia 1 which I think is still one of the best games ever made, especially storywise, Mafia 2 and KCD. Everything he touched turned into gold. And I believe he will hold the GoTY award like Sven did last year.

@@Omaha18 Well after the robbery in 2018, the Game Awards were already under constant criticism. That's why they couldn't rob the 2022 best game award from Elden Ring. And last year they gave it to a small studio like Larian when they had Sony and Nintendo games nominated. If KCD2 comes out this year, they'll probably have to give it the award because as someone who played the first game, I definitely think it will be a better game than Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Dragon's Dogma 2 and any upcoming game this year.

And you haven't heard his design for a sci-fi Assassin's Creed-like RPG (before AssCreed 1, mind you) or Mafia 3, both games he worked on but were scrapped by the publisher (Mafia 3 came out but it was a completely different game, almost nothing was left from his design). It was p. mindblowing as he talked about what could you do in these games. A very talented designer.
I remember a British reporter saying that Mr. Vávra is a racist because there are no blacks in KCD1, and Vávra just replied that he could add some blacks, but in this era where the game is set, they would be slaves😂 he's great. He's been banned on FB, X etc., for so many times😅

Deep Silver is now their publisher though. So I don't know how much influence they may have had over this sequel. Knowing Vávra's history though, he probably resisted any such attempts by them to make changes.

My dad worked with Daniel Vavra and made the Mafia games with him, and everything he has ever told me about him is that he's the most useful, hilarious asshole of all time, seemed like a great guy
I loved the stories about how, during the development of Mafia 1, he called various American car museums and asked if they could provide him with historical car spec sheets, so they could make the cars in Mafia 1 perform accurately. Always been Daniel's staple - attention to detail and immersion.

Kingdom come deliverance 1 is absolute gold, the most authentic and fun european medieval rpg i ever played. I can totally imagine the sequel being goty
I would pay money to see the editor's workflow. How can you watch every stream moment, while simultaneously editing and publishing, while also clipping, while also having an encyclopedic knowledge of the content and being able to find and pull receipts from. It's actually insane.
BTW for people who don't know - this guy (Daniel Vavra) was the lead game designer for the original Mafia and overall is one of the most based/straight-to-the-point-no-bs people on the planet, too bad most of the content he puts on the internet is in Czech so he isn't that well known globally...
He's gonna love the game, it's fantastic and I can only imagine how great the sequel is going to be and like everyone else is saying, the fact that he didn't bow down to the media literally in anyway after their hate towards the first game only makes Daniel even better.

We know David Vavra from a while back. He was a supporter of GG. An unsung hero.
A lot of respect to the director for understanding that not every game is for everyone. He understand that a highly realistic medieval adventure game, can be hard for some people to get into. A lot of devs don't realise this, and blame the player for not being open minded enough. This Director understands that there are people who might not like the style of games he makes, and he isn't angry over it. I am a massive KCD fan, but I can see why some people might find it too realistic or slow.

He'll rage quit after like 3 hours and then get disinterested in the world and never come back. You can't be a god amongst men, you can't have giant, stupid sized swords or armour, combat isn't easy especially at the beginning and all you fight are other, very much human, men. The game is a 9/10 or above for me, but it focusses on immersion, not on action or being epic. I don't think he'll enjoy it tbh.

The literary Term for this is historical fiction. It's understood to mean:
"A fictitous story constrained within the cultural and historical background of a given place and time".
I think the developers understood that assignment VERY well.
Using the Term "Fantasy" to describe it is manipulative, as while the dictionary definition may include fiction as a synonym for fantasy, the literary sciences draw a line between the two.
We'll see this tactic pop up in critiques of the game, specifically from CRT-backing outlets, to denigrate the cultural representation of KC2, as it was with the Prequel.
By mentally shifting the genre to fantasy they'll hope to sidestep having to discuss the issue that there simply exists no relevant record of significant Arabian, Indian or African diasporas within the time and region. In their eyes, if a game is fantastical, there is no reason to not represent every ethnicity and sexual orientation. Call this out when you see it, using actual arguments.
Of course, i don't think KC2 won't have any diversity- we'll see and feel the cultural complements and differences of a time in europe preceding the Nation-State. And i'm sure we might meet a travelling merchant or some performers from far-off lands.

This is one of my favourite games of the last few years and I was hyped like crazy for the announcement of the second game.
Actually smart dev that is farming asmongold to make huge advertisement for KCD 2. He knows.
I laughed out loud with the chat when Asmon said he will play the first game before the second release. LOL
I never played KC, but after watching a full playthrough I bought the game just to support them.

Deliverance was hard, but then I farmed some armor n weapons to sell from corpses on a tower that kept trying to kill me.. still hard
Henry becomes hilariously OP late game though.
Train with Bernard for a while. Learn master strikes. Build up your strength and agility stats. Get some good armour, grab a mace.
Do that and the combat becomes so easy that it's absurdly boring.
@@bakersmileyface I consider Henry op the second you unlock Master Strikes, which takes like 2 hours to get. The combat devolved into only countering enemy atacks and very rarely poking them.

I usually farm the area and the woods between Skalitz and Pribyslavitz for high-tier loot. There's lots of ambushes and skirmishes there, and not only you can get insanely good armor early on, but you can also plunder up to 5k in Groschen on loot alone with each encounter.
Kingdom Come Deliverance is fucking awesome. Definitely getting part 2.

I'm what you'd probably call a progressive liberal. I support same sex marriage, I'm pro choice, pro drug legalization, etc. I despise fascism and communism about as strongly as one can. I disagree with most of Vávra's political opinions.
And I have 750 hours on KC:D. Best 50 euros I've ever spent. In those 750 hours, not one millisecond was taken up by any consideration of contemporary politics or issues. And you know why that is? Because I'm not a whiny brainless idiot that thinks contemporary political issues should have relevance in a videogame.
I cannot fathom why anyone would want to boycott such an amazing game because of the authors' political views. I couldn't give a fuck what he thinks. I'm buying his product, not his politics. Had it not been for SJWs making drama, I'd have been largely unaware of this irrelevant "controversy" anyway.
Great respect for all the devs not giving in to this crap, and staying true to realism, and to the objective of making a good, fun game to play, rather than some PR stunt. Needless to say, I'm buying KC:D 2 as soon as I'll have the time to play it, and I'll thoroughly enjoy exploring every inch of the map and playing every side quest. Not caring about politics all the while. Because that's what hobbies are for.
P.S. if anyone reading is still on the fence about the first game, GO FOR IT. It's amazing, and pretty much every negative review is about the bad technical state at lauch, which has long been fixed. I promise you won't regret the buy.

I have to assume the KCD dev has much better ideas about humanity than OP. Portland Oregon tried all that with the drugs etc. They realized it was a mistake. But hey, fantasy is a genre.

Man I remember when there first was hype about KCD as a kick starter project. After all of these failed kickstarters and outright scams I was very pessimistic and cynical about the whole thing. It seemed almost too good to be true. But Vavra and his team had these update videos on their progress and really cool marketing stuff and when the game came out and was actually good I was really positively surprised and blown away.
What I personally love about KCD is this seamless open mediaeval world. What I mean is that there are literally NO loading screens in the game. It just hits different if you can look from the second floor of a castle out of a coloured glass on to the market place where the NPCs actually go around their business. I mean just compare this with Starfields loading screen simulator lol.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is a fantasy game tbf. It's alternate history about what if Markwart von Aulitz didn't die in the siege of Suchdol. So technically Asmongold is right when talking about medieval fantasy.
What you describe is historical fiction or alternate history. Fantasy refers to magic, dragons, trolls, dwarves, elves etc.

I have such little time to game these days as an adult with a job and family, that I spend my time gaming wisely. Kingdom Come Deliverance is one of the few games I've played in the last 5/6 years. It's incredibly immersive, extremely well optimized on my older gaming PC, and has a variety of gameplay decisions to make. Reminds me of Morrowind in its prime. Just an absolutely great game and would love to watch Asmon play it.
But The first Kingdom Come feels really lackluster especially the final battle.. wish they won't cut corners and make the second game actually worth to play till the end 😢
