One day, my friend and I visited an ancient castle in the Czech Republic. I don't remember the exact name, but something was connected with the word "Melnik". The castle had its own winery, and we all got drunk. The guide told us that the castle was returned to the previous owner, and now the duchess lives here. I'm not a gamer but this looks great fun!! The little insignificant nitpick I have is that the blacksmith was holding red hot steel (even if the tang looked grey it would still be insanely hot) with his bare hand!? He would need tongs and a thick leather gauntlet/glove do cope with the heat conduction involved, these guys were tough but they still burnt like us. As for the bows, the longbows never had any wrapping as you pointed out, the one picture of a bow with a 'grip' is a composite recurve bow (horn, sinew, wood, fish bladder glue, resin etc..) and would have a grip as shown.
You aren’t the only one who noticed the blacksmith with apparently iron hands. Those were definitely not longbows (of the English type) if for no other reason that the stance and posture of the archers was completely wrong. Recurve bows are entirely appropriate for an eastern European region of the era, and so are crossbows of course.
I bought KCD1 when it came out, but put it on the back burner for years until I upgraded my PC fully. Few months ago I played it incessantly for 130 hours. What a game. So excited for number 2.
@@anttitheinternetguy3213Probably not. Because it is a game with a firstperson view. The hood doesn't impair your view, so you can't see it. The hood can be removed as a layer of clothing only in the inventory. I see no reason why it should be different in KDC 2.
@@martinsacha3229 for role playing reasons, its an rpg after all! And there is a mod or glitch to do it If i remember correctly
@@anttitheinternetguy3213 Technical reasons. There's only so many buttons on a controller (less of an issue on PC, but the game's functions have to translate across platforms). Given that hood and helmet are most likely in different equipment slots, there would be a need to assign different commands for that. Given there is no gameplay reason to do it, they likely won't. What could be done is a prompt in the inventory when you equip the hood to ask if you want it up or down, or a simple command in the inventory menu. But an in-play shortcut seems to be more hassle than it's worth to create. EDIT: I wouldn't be surprised however if our friends on the modding scene came up with something on PC. Considering the game uses CryEngine (or a heavily modified version of it), the game files should be accessible and somewhat easy to modify, from AI to textures or values. It's not the easiest out there, but reasonably so compared to others. You just need a solid coding knowledge, provided the studio doesn't too heavily encrypt files or modify the engine to breaking point. Edit edit: made a short dive and it turns out it might be slightly more complicated because the engine is so modified that even the latest official CryEngine updates aren't compatible with KCD's version. So you'd need old timers that are familiar with it and have the old tools (unless the studio provides the tools, which isn't unheard of).
@@martinsacha3229your camo stat, don’t remember the actual name but using a brown hood with the downside being it makes you more conspicuous is smart. It would also work if they make rain a significant factor, like getting drenched makes you sick or something which I could see them doing, or if during winter you need it to stay warm (doubt there will be seasons but a guy can dream)
The polishing service for armors sounds like something doable since they had a laundry service in the first game where you could clean your clothes and armor for a charisma buff. They could add a similar service for armor smiths where they can enhance the look of your armor and maybe fix dents in it.
Question about the engine. They're using a highly modified version of Cry Engine, so modified it might as well be it's own engine. Definitely not Unreal Engine though.
@Metatron we need to start a petition to get a character in the game of you maybe a npc by a smithing station that says stuff like - no no no thats not accurate it goes like this 😂
If KCD2 is set before 1419, I can predict what the developpers have in mind for a possible KCD3. Set it in Prague (logical increase in size over Kuttenberg) during the Hussite Wars.
I think the devs stated that the story of Henry of Skalitz will conclude in KCD2. One way or another all of the plot threads will be weaved into a hopefully satisfying tapestry. Although if the second game will be a major hit with a wider audience to the same degree that the first game was with its niche fans, I definitely think the studio will at least consider making another game in the genre, or even a sequel focused on a different main character.
I think there won't be another game in Prague, because of its size and the creators' obsession with realism. For example, in Kutenberg, they allegedly dropped 4 streets against the historical reality and they were unhappy about it. They would have to make Prague a third. A studio with 250 people is big, but compared to the biggest ones, it's still quite a bit smaller. Daniel Vávra said in an interview that Prague would only be possible to create with the further development of IA.
@@fillosof66689 Given that they positioned themselves as a "historical games studio", similar to how other studios get a reputation for their niche style then bring it to wider audiences by sticking to it (very recently Larian with CRPGs for instance, or once upon a time Bioware), I wouldn't be surprised if they stuck to their guns. Maybe another era, another area, but I'd wager they will stick to "bringing history to life" in their games. The 30 years war or the Napoleonic wars (Austerlitz is in modern-day Czech republic) could be a big pan--European project for instance (and the EU loves that stuff, so it's a non-negligible source of funding). CDPR got EU money for The Witcher 3 Blood & Wine DLC for instance, on the grounds that it was spreading folklore, culture (showcasing both Polish folklore and modern literature, and a France-adjacent culture) and showcasing modern capability on the continent. You can see the Creative Europe Media logo in the trailer).
We are gonna love watching you play and critique. Rock on, Dude. I love seeing the pride and joy reflected in their announcement, and rightfully so. Bravo!
Me and my wife love the KCD 1 and can't wait for the second part. This is one of the rare examples of game done right without any woke nonsense whatsoever.
Back in the early noughties, games frequently featured actual actors, rather than CGI NPCs. I was surprised to see my co-worker talking to me from my computer, calling me 'General' and such... He was one of the grunts in the game Krush Kill n Destroy and like most actors, he worked in hospitality to make ends meet.
Kingdom Come Deliverance is easily one of the best games I have ever played. Spent countless hours on it despite it being single player. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Warhorse Studios!
The confirmed information directly from Dan Vávra is that the visors of helmets will be possible to open and close freely without having to remove the helmet. However, the open space will be less protected.
I loved almost every single thing about kcd. A few things here and there that were intentional, I installed mods to "Fix". But overall I love how hardcore they are in the whole rpg experience. Of course the sequel will be grander in scale, because warhorse means business and want to continue growing. But i hope to use henry's blacksmithing skills. I want to see not just bigger battles, but things to make the game more replayable. More things to do that are continous and keep the game alive for longer. Like owning a bussiness or something. Like making and selling weapons for money in your own shop. Doing caravan guard jobs, running a bakery etc
Pretty sure in KCD 1 the visor would change like on the basinet when you went into combat and it did really limit your vision and peripherals. Probably the most immersive game I've played
It is most proper to have firearms in the game. Apart from Hussite wars (which were only years in coming at first installment's time frame) where firearms were famously used to great effect, the Bohemians seem to have been early adapters of new firearms later on as well: for example the English language has (among many others) borrowed the word _pistol_ from Czech language, since these new short guns came to cavalry use there in late 15th century. You might want to Czech out more into this etymology sometime Metatron!
In the time of the first game it had only been 4 years since Czechs first mentioned firearms, and due to a lack of salt Peter they didn’t adopt firearms until closer to the Hussite wars
I just finished KCD last Saturday. The experience is awesome! For a game that was released years ago still holds up in 2024. Looking forward to play KCD2! Jesus Christ be Praised!

@strpg9938 i think KCD still looks good , but im fairly fanging for KCD2, just hope it comes out before i die!!! ( im pretty ill and will not ever get better )
Man, Metatron I love you dude. Your comments and insights are something I enjoy a lot since I get to learn a ton. Btw we now have a dedicated button to put the visor down or up.
Fun fact, the cutscenes for the first game, the ones that were prerendered were done in Blender. I've actually watched some courses that he made on creating a realistic environment.
There was a trebuchet in the first game. Played quite a big role at the end of the game. The combat system, according to developers, should be more versatile. If you fight with an axe, you probably won't need that many skills and combos, but with the sword techniques, you really may go down the rabbit hole, if you want. You'll also be able to forge your own weapon. Those early firearms will be really difficult to use and quite unpredictable. The may blow into your face and scare people and animals. But if you manage to hit somebody, it's game over for them.
The prayer part of the trailer I adore, as thats my accent and it actually sounds like people I know for once, usualy my accent in media is more like a caricature
I found you (and Shad) because of this game, Metatron. I personally wish you both had reviewed the game more. I'd love to hear your analysis if you decide to do it this time. And, yea, I'm actually hyped for this. Normally, I'm not the "get hyped" type but this game is the exception.
Would be cool if Metatron would replay the first one and do more of a deep dive on his experience with and opinion on the game. Especially since he could now review all the DLCs.
They already confirmed that visor on the helmet will get its own button so you will be able to open or close it on your terms, not just closed automaticly in battles and for some reason while talking to NPC's. Also 3 types of crosbows will be there.
Warhorse is easily in my top 3 for game developers. and I am a game developer... I wonder if there will be a KCD3, if not what their next project will be. I would love to see them make a sengoku jidai game.
There is certainly potential to enter actual Hussite wars, which is like coolest period in Czech History. Many people were expecting we will already see it in KCD2
Similar to a couple of Airsoft players I knew. Everybody wants to portray special forces, commandos and other "Elite" units. I personally prefer the common infantry grunt.
As a czech myself i am incredibly hyped for the sequel, but one little thing that i noticed just now is that when you were talking about the bow wrapping, the arrow is notched incorrectly, the fletching should be flipped and should be pointing away from the bow
Tbh I saw some articles about this which made me uneasy. But your opinion is what matters because you're a historian. So, since the series is focused on historical accuracy, a historian's opinion matters the most.
I dont have too much of an issue if it's a bit diverse if they justify it but I remember this being a big thing when the first came out and the main lead dev (danial vavre who's in this video I think at the end) basically saying fuck off to any articles saying it needed to have diversity. So I wouldn't worry if that's your thing. Probably ragebait
Hi Metatron! It's good to see that you like KCD as much as the youtuber whom I learned about KCD in the 1st place. When you were talking about crossbows, I got so happy because I've seen the trailer before & know there are crossbows in KCD2. I was waiting to see your reaction that there are indeed crossbows! I was so happy to see your face light up! Interesting thing to note, when I saw KCD streamed, Henry was not that good looking to me. I don't know if the game devs did that on purpose to show the lack of confidence & how everything was affecting him. When I saw the trailer for KCD2, the actor is sooooo handsome. Even in KCD2, Henry looks wayyyyyy better. It reminds me of how the game devs show Henry learning to read in KCD, you see the words make more sense as you level up Henry.
The studio is 250 now... but if this game blows up world wide as I believe it will... they will be expanding massively. Never played the first game.. now it is a bit old.. but I will 100% be buying a PS5 to play no.2

I would love for Warhorse to explore in the same way other periods in history..... imagine Henry and Hans living through Rome, Egypt, Greece, Hyksos etc. That would get folks really immersed in history and ancient politics.
10:10 YUP, they are apparently adding in a visor toggle so that you can raise and lower the visor when you want. 24:50 too bad, they have some nice content on the city of Kuttenberg later on in the video plus more crossbow, gun and fighting content.
Terrific stuff. Looks like they will have the setting heavily concentrated around substantial urban environments in this one. Primarily Kuttenberg. That wonderful depiction of the architecture is going to be front.
I'm looking forward to the game for sure. So much so in fact that I have installed KCD 1 a few days back and I'm doing another playthrough in preparation - something I haven't done in years.
I love how Kingdom come has collectively become the history communities favorite game lol in a time where historical titles aren’t as popular as say fantasy. So I respect Warhorse for being brave enough to try to be historically accurate as many from the historical community will scrutinize their game like the first one. You can’t get every little detail right but they do put a lot of effort into getting as much as they can right and I really appreciate that
It's so exciting to see the places that I've been to, like Kuttenberg or those twin towers - a castle today called Trosky (meaning literally: The Ruins) - rendered in the game, during their peak glory.
Thanks for the video man . I finished the first one , just found out about second part. There are two games that I'm exited about right now , Frostpunk 2 and Kingdom come deliverance 2 . Yes sir!
So excited for this! While I never did finish it I really enjoyed Kingdom come deliverance. Amazing atmosphere that pulled you into the past like no other game! Can’t wait to see how this second game may improve on gameplay and facial details!
I’d love if there was a cutscene enforcing the big fish in a small pond as a local hero becoming kingdom widely reknown, such as if Henry never seen cannons and firearms, being utterly confused by how they work at first and being utterly shocked at the near instant power of a cannonball.
I was so happy to see Handgonnes as I am a bit of a Renaissance era firearm enthusiast, even though the handgonna is more medieval, it's still just cool

I don't comment often but I love your channel and I admire your persona a lot! I'm very hyped for KCD2, I enjoyed the first one too, but this looks like a great path-forward and general improvement overall Excellent video-reaction Metatron! Greetings from a fellow Italian 😁
Great point on the bow wih wrapping. Having tried a few medieval bows it really isnt even necessary. The grip is good enough without any wrapping. some of the bows are very tough to draw. Nothing like a modern compound bow. Lots of training needed if you want to hit the target reliably. It makes sense that crossbows took over.
The polish level idea would definitely fit into the charisma system they already had in the 1st game where how clean and hygienic you are affects how ppl treat you. I could even see the possibility of you want to have good polished armour when dealing with high nobility etc, but maybe not too good in case you embarrass them (if you are supposed to be lower in the hierarchy) etc. But that probably would be a level to advanced for a video game.
The first 1 was kick started and I was 1 of the kickstarters and yeah Vavra would do every announcement video so he's a face the kickstarters all know and love.

I especially like how Hans goes from being an obnoxious fop to being revealed as a more sympathetic and generous guy too. It's just a good feat of writing and character development.
I hated him at first but he was my favorite character in the end lol
@@John-mf6kyfor me I always knew hans was based. Even when he was an ass he was funny.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance is one of the best games ever made. I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel! Excited to see how Henry's story progresses.
Czechs are good pick for medieval historical game, because unlike many US companies they actually know history.
good game. watched it. bought it now. gets pretty buggy sometimes and the combat is not very intuitive
@@TheRezro it's not that. US companies can have historians and pretty good ones. but as any visual product, it's the amount of tropes they decide to implement that would often peak the sales. bcz marketing is a thing in AAA games
@@YandreYak Yes. But the problem is also accessibility of people with actual socialistic knowledge about topic. Naturally it is way easier to find experts about Wild West and Pioneer times in US, then about medieval Europe. Though gradually understanding of the period become way better in US.
One day, my friend and I visited an ancient castle in the Czech Republic. I don't remember the exact name, but something was connected with the word "Melnik". The castle had its own winery, and we all got drunk. The guide told us that the castle was returned to the previous owner, and now the duchess lives here. We all started looking for this duchess, it turned out to be an elderly woman who was drinking with us all the time. The whole group wanted to take a picture with her and asked her to put on jewelry and a crown, which, according to her, she did not have.😂
That is exactly why I travel so much
Yes it's Mělník
There ain't dutches in CZ. Use of feudal titles is forbidden by law from 1918.
@@vendasch666 yes I think he meant that the person was from noble family rather than using the title, as in Czech republic we have many noble house's just not officially usable titles

Sweet!!! The first one was so much fun. Hopefully the battles will be bigger. With sieges and everything.
Originally, they wanted massive battles but various factors made it impossible.
So, maybe that will happen with this one.
Also the combat a wee bit less janky
It looks awesome so far. I can't wait until it comes out.
This makes me proud about being a Czech
🇨🇿 Same here. Kingdom Come is great.

Why would you? You're not involved in the making of the game.
The view of the helmet can be controlled whether it is folded down or not using a button. One of the creators of the game said so in an interview.
I hope The same Button can Be used to pull The Hood up or down, while using a Hood with no other headgear
If There is a Button to lower The visor its propably useless without an helmet, so why not use it to pull your Hood up or down, i always hoped to Be able to use The Hood pulled over your head in kcd 1.
@Metatron we need to start a petition to get a character in the game of you maybe a npc by a smithing station that says stuff like - no no no thats not accurate it goes like this 😂
This would be awesomesauce. 😂
Make him an Italian immigrant in kuttenberg lmao
That'd be awesome! Imagine defending a Hussite wagon fort or alternatively attacking one.
Oh no you know how f*cking big Prague is the game would have to only be set in the city of Prague or have a completely seperate map.
It is going to be woke for part two.
Super excited for KCD 2. I love the presentation as well, OMFG I cannot wait!
Doing caravan guard jobs, running a bakery etc
i love the sword combat in the game it feels like i am in the medieval age

So hyped for KCD2, great video! Thanks
Pretty sure in KCD 1 the visor would change like on the basinet when you went into combat and it did really limit your vision and peripherals.
Probably the most immersive game I've played
It does yes, but it’s auto not user input
Also it’s didn’t show you raises the visor during cutscenes
Wow, thank you for this! I love your channel and I love KCD!
I see what you did there
In the time of the first game it had only been 4 years since Czechs first mentioned firearms, and due to a lack of salt Peter they didn’t adopt firearms until closer to the Hussite wars
Glad to see manuscript miniatures get a shoutout.
Been using that for a while.

Man, Metatron I love you dude. Your comments and insights are something I enjoy a lot since I get to learn a ton. Btw we now have a dedicated button to put the visor down or up.
Glad to hear it!
Sounds great
You'll also have a button for opening the visor

I found you (and Shad) because of this game, Metatron. I personally wish you both had reviewed the game more. I'd love to hear your analysis if you decide to do it this time. And, yea, I'm actually hyped for this. Normally, I'm not the "get hyped" type but this game is the exception.
Would be cool if Metatron would replay the first one and do more of a deep dive on his experience with and opinion on the game. Especially since he could now review all the DLCs.
I'd be in for that. :)

I am unbelievably hyped. This is a guaranteed buy along with all the DLCs.
In Viking fighting reenactment we speak a lot about that actually. And also how everyone seems to want to look like a King or Earl.

As a czech myself i am incredibly hyped for the sequel, but one little thing that i noticed just now is that when you were talking about the bow wrapping, the arrow is notched incorrectly, the fletching should be flipped and should be pointing away from the bow

I'll be saving some vacation time up to be able to play this, so darn exciting! Henry's coming home!
Tbh I saw some articles about this which made me uneasy. But your opinion is what matters because you're a historian. So, since the series is focused on historical accuracy, a historian's opinion matters the most.
What were the articles saying?
What articles?
@@nietzchepreacher9477 that it was going to be "diverse".

I would love for Warhorse to explore in the same way other periods in history..... imagine Henry and Hans living through Rome, Egypt, Greece, Hyksos etc. That would get folks really immersed in history and ancient politics.
Dated armor is relatable and realistic. I joined the US Marines before 9/11 and was issued an old Vietnam style flak jacket.

Yes sir!

Kingdom Come was such an amazing game! Im so excited to hear theres a sequel otw.
Really excited for the 2nd game seeing as how I fell in love with the first game. Love your videos Metatron!
You should definitely do a KCD play through, Id watch that. I recently bought the game , I was unsure about first person but omg itis amazing and so much fun even though I've just made it to the other town and slept 😊

Excellent video-reaction Metatron!
Greetings from a fellow Italian 😁
Time for another play through! The first one is a top 3 fav game of mine. I can’t wait
Gotta remember the head behind kingdom come is the guy who came up with the original Mafia :)
Detected problems are thinner shields and stuff like that. So these games are better historic reference than any movie or else. Great job.
Viktor Bocan, the combat designer in WHS mentioned that the visor will be operated by press of a button, any time you'll like.
The first 1 was kick started and I was 1 of the kickstarters and yeah Vavra would do every announcement video so he's a face the kickstarters all know and love.
But you missed the best part where the opponent drops visor of his helmet with sword in his hand and it looks so damn smooth xD
I will wear full plate armor. I hope they will add tournaments as well, like in the first one.
Can’t wait to get my hands on the Markvart Von Aulitz
Loved the first game! Luckily I remember the story so I’m excited to see where it goes now. The history of this period is fascinating a war I knew nothing about before this game.
