But like he gave it in a way like a caring master or caring parent or family member would give. They are frustrated not because they despise you but because they don't want to see you fail and see your potential and want you to succeed.
What I love about Chef Alvin is that as intense and mean as he can often get, the advice he gives is always really good advice. As apposed to someone like Chef Joe, who never has something constructive to say, Chef Alvin usually does, even if it's buried a little. Similar to why I love Gordon Ramsey.
Always found this a right challenge for Eric, why make something even harder than needs to, but fair play he pulled it off as won him the series in the end.

While Eric on the other hand is very humble but ambitious and doesn't care if everybody doesn't want him to move forward..
Chess players literally say that it makes them happy when their opponent blunders. Its not shameful to want to win, and it doesnot take away from a person's appreciation of the art itself.
