These age old traditions are so beautiful .
Nobody is perfect, she may not have been, but what she possessed was an incredible and responsible sense of duty to her people, even shortly before her death, whether you liked her or not. She did her duty every day, even behind the walls of the palace.
She may be one of the few women in this office who deserves the title of perpetual queen.
She is a role model for those who are aware of their responsibilities and tread them every day, without grumbling, without complaining.

The royal children held vigil for about 30 minutes, but there is a military vigil the entire time the coffin is there.

It is beautiful but they must be so tired. They are all very old to be standing & walking for so long & the heat.

What's tragic is not the death but the pomp and circumstance that barely conceal the grief of Elizabeth's children. When a system dehumanizes a person or family, it's tragic no matter how many tiaras, Rolls, jewels and palaces you throw them.

Actually it is not tragic at all. And it even don't dehumanizes. It embraces the good, it embraces duty, love and it has the effect of being reminded what humanity has lost throughout industrialisation. This even has carried a bright warm shining light. Why is the queen being made out as so special? Why all the hooplah? At the end of the day she's no more special than some homeless person on the streets of Rio. That poor homeless person could die and no one would know, but the whole planet has to make a big deal about the queen. Is she more important than that homeless person in Rio? Is she more important than you?

As an American I will never get over how silly it is that these people are held on a pedestal and looked at as gods by some folks. Rip to the queen but learning about the royal family recently it’s such a Stone Age way of doing things. The uniforms are dumb. This would be like us Americans acting like this when a kardashian died. It’s sooooo silly looking from afar
Nothing like that at all. They’re not celebrities. They’re a formal institution that serves our country. As for the military uniforms looking dumb, I’m surprised an American wrote that - what a crass thing to say.

The British monarchy and colonialism should never be celebrated. In Feb/1952 when Queen Elizabeth ascended, the British economy was in tatters from war. British colonialism rebuild British economy (pay back war loans) on backs of colonized people of Kenya, Ghana, and Malay. Called the imperial resurgence policy exporting from Kenya tea/coffee, Ghana cocoa, Malay rubber. Read about Mau Mau rebellion in Kenya.
