Hey Bill, I’m glad you got into a couple of chrome steelhead on that Erie trib. Fishing is always challenging when you got low, clear and sunny conditions. Add to it, people walking into each pool and you have extremely challenging conditions. Glad you ended up catching a few. So beautiful to see all the fall colours, makes it more enjoyable to fish. Burt dam circus is officially done for another year, more open space to fish but also tough bite that day. That’s how fishing is sometimes.

If I remember correctly in Michigan our rules state “the fish must willingly take the hook in its mouth” or something like that. Went salmon fishing with a buddy once and was very disappointed to see him flossing. Had to explain to my other friend later that it wasn’t a legit way of fishing. To me, being proud of catching a foul hooked fish is like bragging that you won a football game because the other team didn’t show up. Good stuff, Bill. Love your videos.

Rivers are so low this year, I just been fishing the beach, i got a really nice big male steelhead last weekend on my 2nd cast. Shoulda gave those fish to the flosser, save em the hassle! Haha no skunkin!

I was up there the week of Halloween and there was insanely good fishing in between the blow outs !! I wonder with that extremely high water early if most of them are up in the gorge on a couple of my favorite Erie tribs!! I think you know where I’m talking about!! Great videos always looking forward to them they keep me motivated to get out and enjoy life!!

we went back to Burt again today - got into some massive Brown trout and Steelhead Mike and i we did - had a guy come right up and set his chair right next to where i was fishing and cast out a bottom rig right where i was float fishing i could feel his breath he was so close - i kind of lost it and cursed him out - i rarely ever do anything like that

Even where its legal i cannot understand flossing. It cant feel the same as getting one to bite. Even with salmon, not that we have around me. I got a coho or two as a kid. Nobody used beads until after i stopped fishing for steelhead. Now nobody uses any but soft beads and i dont have any. What goes first with a bead and bag? And do you prefer hook in the bead, or the bead stop like with hard beads?
bead on top bag bottom ✌️mostly bead stop but theres times in ultra clear water i put soft bead on a small hook but you lose a lot like that 👍 snaggers & flossers suck 😁
Clear water fishing is fun but tough.i absalutly despise flossers.i also fly fish with my flies i tie and fish them and hook fish legaly.i float fish also thats a blast.

The Term "Fly Flosser" comes from people who know absolutely nothing about Fly fishing... Or flossing and how flossing works. The reason Fly fisherman snag fish from time to time is because of the long leader and a delayed hook set. Sometimes the fish will spit for Fly back out before you can set the hook and they end up foul hooked. We don't intentionally snag fish.
i used to fly fish myself 30 years ago and i know guys that fly fish ethically and catch plenty of Steelhead the right way but i always see a few that do intentionally floss and snag - its not just the fly fisherman either
i don't know maybe just lost interest in it , i used to dry fly , nymph fish all types of fly fishing but when it came steelhead fishing i caught a ton more fish using other methods
