      Thank you so much. Yes I agree with you, I was having the same problems with my painting years ago and it was my friend Andrew Tischler who helped me with my painting. It was great to have someone to show me a few painting techniques so now I am passing on the information through this UA-cam channel 😊

    Love your stuff brother. I heard you say you can do this in acrylic but how do you apply pure white for the white water when acrylics dry so quickly? I struggle with trying to mix the right color before the paint I just put down dries so I can blend the colors. No hard lines in water. I am assuming this is why you switched to oils?

    • @SamuelEarpArtist
      @SamuelEarpArtist  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks Jay. I switched to oils years ago because acrylics dry too quickly and I was finding hard to work with them. You can still make the white stand out with acrylics and it’s all related to the tonality of your painting. I do much prefer oils especially as the colours are more vibrant. Having said that I think acrylics have their place and I’ve seen some great results with acrylics. If you have not used oils before give them a try, personally I think they’re much easier to paint with than acrylics 😊

      Hello. I was using Liquin Original as a medium for my oil paint so it was speeding up the drying time. My painting would have been dry the next day.
      After blocking-in your painting let it dry. It may take a few days.

    • @SamuelEarpArtist
      @SamuelEarpArtist  5 років тому +1

      Hi Adrian, I always try and use as bigger brushes as I can get away with as it creates a more painterly effect and you can cover ground more quickly. I save the smaller brushes for the fine details as the painting develops.

    i have a huge question, what colors, or color graphs to u use to get the colors you need (or how to mix) only ask because i always been horried free hand when trying to color things in. also how would you save in paint supplies? i dont know what paints are worth going after or if sells are a good thing... i am trying to start out. but my 1st paint set some was something off of amazon.. "Colore Oil Paint Set - Perfect For Use On Landscape And Portrait Canvas Paintings - Great For Professional Artists, Students & Beginners - Set Of 24 R"
    i dont know if its even worth it or long term. any advice would be very welcome

    • @SamuelEarpArtist
      @SamuelEarpArtist  6 років тому

      Hello, lately I have been simplifying my palette as you don’t need many colours. You can paint any landscape or seascape with the following colours:
      Titanium white
      Burnt sienna
      Yellow ochre (or yellow oxide)
      Cadmium yellow
      Cadmium red
      Alizarin crimson (or quinacridone magenta)
      Ultramarine blue
      Phthalo green
      I would recommend starting with an artist quality oil paint, you will have to pay a bit of money for them to start but it’s worth it and some of those colours will last you a while. Painting with cheap crap oil paint isn’t fun so I reckon you should start with a good quality oil paint even if you are a total beginner. I hope this helps.
