@@brennerfineart No problem... one day. I'm really stuck with a stream. The water is clear, but I'm not cracking the stream affect. Really enjoying your work . 👍👌🙏
✍️🎨🖌️ That's fricken beautiful! How do you know what details to put on something without seeing it?6 I learned the only picture I can copy from legally is one I take and I don't have much I'm inspired to paint from. It's to cold in Oregon still to paint plein air. It's really ridiculous to make another painting of the ocean but I have to for a stupid contest. I say that only because it been done to death and done well- the world doesn't need ME to learn to do it. You really can't beat the real thing or photography unless you can put a light through your picture anyway.
Hi Jen, I use photo reference to work from, this can not be seen in the video but I do. Actually with 99% of my paintings I do it that way. This is nothing to feel bad about, almost all of todays realist painters are using photo reference to achieve realism. How could you come up with a convincing painting without having 30 years of experience and even THEN you could tell at the first glance, that it is not looking like it could if the artist would have used some good reference. Being an artist does not stop you from doing so ;-)))
Hi, I am using here a mdf plate that is primed - I buy it here in Germany at a company called "Boesner". Lots of different sizes and not expensive at all - highly recommended :-)))
Thank you Tom :-))) Yes, I used all the time acrylics for the underpainting...but I stepped away from it meanwhile nearly completely...now I like to do the underpainting more detailed and for that I need colour that is not instantly dry when you apply it - therefore I use now mostly the water mixable oils for the underpainting, too.
@@brennerfineart water mixed oils, that sounds like Holbein. Great work I'm currently learning water color and gouache but the vibrantcy of the oil and acrylic is stunning
@@tombryan720 I walked the same path - watercolour in school, acrylics and then oils - there is really no more convenient way of getting colours that really blow your mind onto that canvas than using oils. Hi Reagan, I tried on several videos to get more into detail - but people don`t watch them long enough to show youtube, that this video is worth to be pushed out. Therefore these videos "die" and never get recommended which harms the channel (if I would do more of these videos youtube would start to think that the channel in general is not good and that would harm it seriously). I can do another painting mixing video about how to mix colours for seascape paintings. And you could also try my Patreon - there I have on the newer videos a full section on colour mixing. You see what colours I put into a certain mixture. No time lapse, no cut - the whole mixing process from beginning to end. Sometimes up to 40 minutes for a whole palette ;-)))
