    I bought a 2017 Ram 1500 Tradesman 5.7 Hemi Crewcab 4x4 with 35k miles for $22k in 2019. It’s been a great truck. I don’t think there is a better deal for the capability you are getting. It’s been 100% reliable for me as well.
    But buy it used! Let the depreciation work for you! 2-3 years old is perfect.

      2019 was a different time. I bought a 1500 single cab Ram 5.7L 2016 in 2016 with only 16k miles on it for 20k from a dealer. I sold it in 2021 for 19k cash with 80k miles on it. I basically drove a truck for free for 5 years. Truck prices are coming down but we are no way close to pre pandemic.

      I really don't want a ram but after diligent research it seems like the best bang for buck right now, also I guess the one thing I do love about it is the no middle console in the tradesman.

      @@3in24 my work gave me newer trucks for 3 years rotating for a new one evey 9 months (I was lucky). Drove ram, Chevy, GMC and Ford. I gatta say Ram ain’t bad minus the infotainment system. But I will say I now know why Ford is popular. That ecoboost engine is really superior. Super low rpm high torque, great finishes, etc..

      Do yourself a favor. Go buy a high volume oil pump to prevent your engine from getting Hemi tick. It’s a $300 part that’ll prevent over $5000 in damage.

    My brother recently financed a 2022 RAM 1500 Bighorn crew cab with the V6 and 14k miles for 34k. Not bad at all in this economy. Sure 3 years ago a similar truck 🛻 would have been 30-32k. He really likes it and that V6 and 8 speed is smooth and still gets up and goes. He was looking at the Warlock 🧙‍♂️ and we even found some low mileage Laramie quad cabs for 33k-35k.
    I sadly wasn’t able to shop around at all and was basically “stuck” getting a 2020 Hyundai Tucson SE with 25k miles for $27,000 after tax and title back in July. Then a couple months ago I saw a green 2022 Nissan Frontier SV crew cab with 18k miles for $27,000 before tax and title about 120 miles away. I wish that I could have driven more than a couple miles away but my Cruze took a dump on me and we were afraid to drive too far. I would prefer the PRO 4x for my hunting and fishing lifestyle but they are 33k-36k.

    I drove (4) hrs yesterday to look at two trucks, both priced 64K a 22 chevy high country 2500 15K miles and a 22 Longhorn 2500 25K miles at two different dealers. Both where scratched up with chips n dings and rims damaged. I didn't even open the doors. I received photos before I left but defects didn't show up. Folks usually take care of high end trucks. Not anymore. salespeople sell (units) so don't care about defects

      About three years ago I drove 4 hours to look at a truck that was listed online. The picture was of an extended cab, long box but when I got there it was a crew cab short box. The salesperson at the dealership said they just pulled a picture off the internet. They could have taken a picture of the truck with a cellphone and posted an accurate photo. I looked at it for a few minutes then drove home. I guess they think if they can get you into the dealership then they can sell you something else.

      @Boobtube. I have no idea what that means. But I learned to ask the question, "Are the pictures online pictures of the vehicle for sale?" I learned that you can't make any assumptions when buying a vehicle new or used. Even if you feel stupid doing it, you must ask, "Does this new truck come standard with cruise control?"

    Take a look at enterprise car sales used trucks. The only issue is getting 4wd from enterprise is a little hard. There's still a stigma for retired rental cars.

  • @Dusdaddy

    That data makes sense. As the newer models with higher base prices, GM twins & Nissan Frontiers, hit the used market, it will drive up numbers from the previous years when the lower base price models were selling used. I'm still surprised the Taco wasn't higher, but this is showing a change in used pricing not a depreciation.

    These Ram’s classics with the Hemi are the Toyota of the domestic truck market, they last a long time with just maintaining them. Very few problems.

    @Pickup Truck Plus SUV Talk: My mechanic considers a turbo a wear item now. Owners need to read their manuals. You need to use Tier 1 gasoline, change oil more frequently, and let the turbo cool down for a minute or two before shutting the vehicle down. This will help extend the life of the turbo.

    • @Pickuptrucktalk
      @Pickuptrucktalk  7 місяців тому +4

      I'd find a new mechanic. LOL. I mean the owner's manual says to change oil at a longer interval thanks to new oil viscosity. Also, per the engineer, the turbo cools down by itself even if you turn off the truck.

    Used trucks have a higher monthly price. Because intrest rates are much higher on used and amount of years to finance is much less.

    • @paulhunter9613
      @paulhunter9613 7 місяців тому

      And I dont see why the interest rate is so much higher with a used vehicle, it is just borrowing money for a vehicle, no different from buying new. I got my 2 yr old used truck in January 2021, just before the huge increase in interest rates. I got a 4 yr loan for 1.92%. So I would be foolish to get a newer truck as of now because the interest rate would be 8% plus, a lot of lost money

    So Tim. I have reviewed some reliability reports and I can see that i don't see turbos as less reliable for the life of the vehicle aka 150k miles. But i have also looked at average life reports. There were over 6 models of cars averaging well over 200k miles. I can't remember them all but i think the ram 1500 and f150 were about 180k and the silverado 1500 like 190k. But they dont nake distinction in powertrains for those vehicle. It would be interesting to measure the 5.3 up against the 2.7. Or the 5.0 against the 3.5. I dont wanna talk about ram lol. I already know the hemi was dragging the pentastar down. Thats why im not disappointed to see the new hurricane. Cant be too much worse than the hemi 😂😂😂😂
