- In this video we show you how to diagnose and replace a bad lower ball joint on your Toyota Prius. Below I have listed the torque specs for each part. Thank you guys for watching and good luck with the repair!
Tie rod - 36 ft lbs
Axle nut - 159ft lbs
Ball joint to arm - 66 ft lbs
Ball joint nut to knuckle - 76 ft lbs
Caliper bracket - 67 ft lbs
That castle nut was a pain. I used a hammer and heavy duty chisel to spin it to get that out. Thanks for making this video!
No problem I’m glad you were able to get it done!
Love the hammer technique
Nice video for the ball joint work. thanks
Thank you!
That tie rod probably should have been replaced as well right?
Technically even though it drops easily, there’s no play in and out in the joint of the tie rod so you can still keep it but this car has gotten its moneys worth out of those tie rods and it’s just a matter of time before they start to get play so when the time is right I would do inner and outer tie rods and an alignment.
@@acetechauto7 Thanks for the reply! I hear that the inner tie rods don't fail as often as outer tie rods. Is this true?
@sashaghovanlou8175 that’s true mostly the outer tie rods outlast the inner tie rods. When you have the wheel up in the air wiggle the wheel left to right and see if it has any play.
