    atleast he was in the most intense and mind bending hardcore album of all times......still to this day cuts like sugar coated soar,clip the apex,destro's secret and variations on a cocktail dress are absurdly intense and absolute nuts in the musical and the intent ...i laugh every time the chaos comes how genius and creative is

    Dimitri was The Dillinger Escape Plan's best singer and frontman. He was immense in the band, great lyrics, charisma and power.
    Mike Patton brought TDEP to a higher scale with full experiment.
    I saw Dimitri with the group in Switzerland at the time. With Chris Pennie, it was the best concert ever.
    So sad this incredible drummer has kind of disappeared from the Scene.

    Calculating Infinity is probably my favorite heavy album ever. Masterpiece. Dimitri is one of the reasons. Another one is Chris Pennie

    I remember getting calculating Infinity when it was new. That shit blew my mind open. How are they doing this, what time is this in, how are these vocals so good, it's Fu king crushing. And now I feel super old.

    I went to my first concert when I was about 11-12 and had no idea who DEP was it any clue about what I was getting into. Standing in the outside of the pit, I got punched directly in the throat and it was right then that I became an official liver of extreme metal and music in general. What a life changing night.

    This made me feel old. It also made me feel like I've grown up a lot. A lot of closure came from listening to this, and it's great to hear from someone who has been out there living his life and being a fan like me after having such a huge influence on all of us. It just goes to show you that you shouldn't hesitate to make an impact and create things, nor should you hesitate to walk away after you HAVE created. Life goes on, friends. And we still get to hold all the artwork as treasures in our lives.

    Love this interview, thank you Frank and Dimitri!!! Oh man, I remember the first time I saw The Dillinger, it was in Florence Italy during a tattoo convention..1999 I guess? I had no idea who they were, my friend was like hey dude there's a hardcore show here tonight, we should go... Glad I went because I was blown away. I still have the Calculating Infinity tee I bought back then! There was like 20 people at that show, like it was an empty crappy warehouse!! It was awesome, good times man.

    Absolute joy to watch and really interesting, I love every Dillinger record and appreciate all the members for there input to such a f'ing amazing project over the years, It's hard to listen to Dissociation where It seeps finality and permanent change that us fans respect but also didn't want. Dillinger was a class act from beginning to end and I miss them like no other band out there but at least they went out on top of there game (were they ever not on top of it? Hell no) and with an excellent final show!

    This was such a great interview, great questions, Dimitri was so open and awesome. I found Dillinger while away alone in school in a big city and going to see Dillinger and Botch emboldened me to push myself to do better and get rid of that which holds one down. This was a great time, thank you!

    I would have liked to have known what happened to the Argonauts project with the Burnt By The Sun memebers? I was mad stoked when it was announced, i think one or two tracks were released and then nothing else ever came of it with no explanation?

    • @dconvergadon5281
      @dconvergadon5281 3 місяці тому

      Argonauts continued with another singer for a bit (I forget the name, but it was a former bandmates of their bassist)..Eventually they reconnected with Mike Oleander ( ex- bbts, for the love of, Nora) and became River Black, they released one album and kinda went silent as the members are all busy with other projects, etc. I really dug some of the first demos and shows I saw them with Dimitri.

    I liked Dillinger Escape Plan way more with Dimitri, and it really annoys me that mainstream music fans need melodic vocals and choruses to latch onto or they won't understand "extreme" music. I thought DEP's music was way more interesting back when the instrumentation had to be compelling enough to carry the songs without melodic vocals, whereas in DEP's later stuff the vocals and choruses serve as the main focus and the insane technical guitar parts serve more as sort of as the equivalent of a solo instead of the backbone to the entire song. But the average person just hears a catchy chorus and immediately thinks it's better.
