Now you have to see and hear how they paired up with Dusty Springfield in their official music video WHAT HAVE I DONE TO DESERVE THIS? it helped revive Dusty's long career.
Great video with that fun, punchy sound of PSB. Loved watching Dusty Springfield...a cherished idol of us 60's kids. Sadly 12 years after this she passed from breast cancer.
My first boyfriend died when he was 36 and I was 31. He picked some opera and some pop music for his funeral. He was a wonderful man but he did struggle to express emotions. It wasn’t until maybe 20 years later that I realised that he chose this to be the final song of his funeral as his very public goodbye to me and a declaration of his love to me in front of his family and our friends - it said all the things he deeply felt but couldn’t always put into words: “… Maybe I didn't treat you Quite as good as I should. Maybe I didn't love you Quite as often as I could……you were always on my mind….tell me, tell me that your sweet love hasn’t died.” I grieved and fell in love again, but of course I’ll always love that wonderful man. We both loved PSBs so it was a perfect goodbye.
Another vote for Being Boring, incredible record and great video, the lyrics are really moving as well. Neil Tennant's fave PSB track and one of Axl Rose's favourites songs as well!
Jay & Amber, you'll love their "What Have I Done to Deserve This?"(ft. Dusty Springfield) and "Always On My Mind"!! edit- you reacted to their "It's A Sin", Oct 2, 2022.
Followed by So Hard, Being Boring and their Willie Nelson cover of Always on My Mind. And then check out Getting Away With It by Electronic ft NeilTennant (Pet Shop Boys singer) with Bernard Sumner (New Order singer/Joy Division guitarist) and Johnny Marr (The Smiths guitarist, also worked with The The, Hans Zimmer...).
Always been a huge fan of Pet Shop Boys! They're just such legends of 80's electronic synth/alternative! "Suburbia" and "Opportunities" from their debut album are absolute bangers, but there are so many others. Tennant and Lowe are just masterminds of the genre.
@@gartgreenside3657 I disagree. At the time when "West End Girls" first came out?, I think they were given more air play on alternative stations than they were pop stations. @gartgreenside3657 before their songs were played on mainstream radio, they were played on alternative stations first. Same happened to so many alt bands even Echo, New Order, etc.
One of my FAVORITE Pet Shop Boy songs, ever! And I agree with a lot of the other comments I've seen so far, you absolutely have to react to "What Have I Done to Deserve This?", it's a classic. "Opportunities" is another one that is incredible by them.
YES! They were a very innovative influential band of the 80’s. Other comments are dead on on with the recommendation of their pairing with Dusty Springfield in “What Have I Done (to deserve this)”. Awesome song. A must hear.
This version of the song only runs for about 4:20 mins. I think many of you will love the 7:47 min. extended version. Here is a small list of great PSB songs that you may not have ever heard before: 1) Miracles 2) King's Cross 3) The Resurrectionist (Extended Mix) which runs 5:41 min.) 4) Did You See Me Coming 5) Was It Worth It (Go to the version from the Discography CD). Enjoy!
One of my favorite bands ever. I am so happy you are getting into them. I've been lucky enough to see them a few times, but my favorite live memory of them was a few years ago in Southern California. They played Domino Dancing for an encore, brought the house lights up and let the audience sing the song with them. It was so tribal, nostalgic and beautiful. EVERYONE was dancing and singing at the top of their lungs and there was such a sense of togetherness and community, it brought me to tears. Love you both and all you do! Cheers!
Hi Jay and Amber, The Pet Shop Boys are Neil Tennant on vocals dnd Chris Lowe on keyboards, They're both in their 60s now but they are still going strong today in 2024 😄😄 Another great one by them is It's a Sin 😄😄
Yes, you also did It's A Sin which you both loved. You should revisit that one! Amazingly, the Pet Shop Boys are still together and still making amazing music. Glad you both are fans now!
Excellent band! I remember when they came out with "West End Girls" and made their rounds on the MTV rotation their sound was just so unique. And from there they made so many great songs - "Suburbia", "What Have I Done to Deserve This (with Dusty Springfield)", "Opportunities", "Rent", "New York City Boy"
They had loads of hits, some of my favourites are: "It's a Sin", The Pet Shop Boys with Dusty Springfield "What Have I Done to Deserve This?", "Heart", "Rent", "Always On My Mind", "Opportunities", "Left to My Own Devices", Dusty Springfield with The Pet Shop Boys "Nothing Has Been Proved". There are many more but these are good ones to continue with.
@@Adam_Le-Roi_Davis. Definitely a more "obscure band" at least amongst people my age (20s) and in my country. Funnily only learnt of these guys due to my grandpa having a lot of 80s music on vinyl. Please, please do 'It's Alright' by Pet Shop Boys. I'm so glad you have done another PSB song. Isn't Chris Lowe just a synth master? Some of the sounds he gets out of them are superb, just like Vince Clarke from Erasure. They have done so many classic songs.
Happy you got to the Pet Shop Boys. This song is AWESOME! Yet their very best songs that you have not yet done are “OPPORTUNITIES (Let’s Make Lots of Money”, and “SUBURBIA” and “WHAT HAVE I DONE TO DESERVE THIS”. Their music is much more modern sounding than anything in 2023-24.

Neil Tennent’s voice appears on a collaboration band called Electronic……he takes lead on “ Disappointed” and backing vocals on “Getting Away With It” both great songs
"What Have I Done to Deserve This" "Opportunities" "Go West" "Always On My Mind" They also produced a fabulous Liza Minnelli album...my personal fave from that is "Rent" (which is actually a cover of one of their own songs)
Check out “Opportunities,” “It’s a Sin,” “Suburbia,” and “What Have I Done (to Deserve This).” All great Pet Shop Boys songs! Also, the lead singer Neil Tennant performed with another group called Electronic, with Johnny Marr from The Smiths and Bernard Sumner from New Order. They’ve got some good songs as well.
One of their best is "Left to My Own Devices" -- unbelievable production. They are still very popular today-- you should check out their 2020 song "Monkey Business", very cool video. By the way, they will be releasing their 15th album later this year.
Ley to My Own Devices is pure Trevor Horn magic. If you can see the live video of the princes trust concert of 2004 of this song. It’s the unique time when PSB performance the song with the orchestra.
Please react to their 1988 pop/dance classic "Always On My Mind". It's one of the best cover songs ever and one of the Pet Shop Boys' best songs. You will love it.

Thanks guys for doing this!! This is one of my all time favorite songs and videos!! I can't get enough of this!!!The music and video are magnificent!! Songs don't come any better than this!!
Yesss, such a great song ! It's from Pet Shop Boys so-called imperial phase when Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe had a string of No.1 hits and thought they had found the perfect formula. They are still going strong in Europe today and their shows are so much fun, filled with tons of hits and great tunes. P.S. You already did "It's a sin" too, not just West End Girls. And pssst, dear Amber, they are not really ladies men 😄🌈
Yeah and the video storyline kinda sends a lot of hints especially at the end. Funny how things went over our heads in the 80s, lyrically and the videos.
I promise, you won't find a bad Pet Shop Boys track, and they have released hundreds. They're truly one of the best acts ever to come from Britain, true artists.
They've just been here in Latinamerica on Tour, and of course I went to see them with my wife, for the first time Live! In Santiago de Chile. And we really enjoy it!!! Was amazing. They ended the show saying "Somos los Pet Shop Boys" to the public in Spanish. They are still great. My Favorites are "Rent" and "What Have I done to deserve this". I hope you react to them someday. Regards! 🙂
It's a Sin is THE BEST THING they ever did. Heartbeat and You Were Always On My Mind are both really great too, What Have I Done to Deserve This (with Dusty Springfield) is pretty essential, and Go West is SO MUCH FUN too.
Somebody else has already said this but you should listen to their cover of "Always on My Mind" and their duet with Dusty Springfield "What Have I Done to Deserve This". Also "Love Comes Quickly".
The singer - Neil Tennant - and Sting are from the North East of England, and both went to the same school (St Cuthbert's) in Newcastle (UK) so they both sing with a bit of a Geordie accent which tones their voices.
You'll also be surprised to know Pet Shop Boys are still around and creating great music. And they didn't bother trying to change with the times since their sound was always better than the fads that have come and gone. ❤
Another song they did was called Confidential. It was covered by Tina Turner with vocals provided by Neil Tennant and both he and Chris Lowe played keyboard on the track.
The new wave british invasion of the 80's can't get enough, 😂 I see lots of requests for "What Did I Do To Deserve This" with the great Dusty Springfield it's a most see. So many hits, so little time please do more. Thanks for "Domino Dancing" another great. Peace✌️ and Love❤ Gary😍
I was a club DJ in the 80s. This was one of the songs ( remix version) that was guaranteed to have the dance floor packed. (There was usually a stampede to the dance floor).
Great PSB song! Thank you 🥰. And to answer Jay, well we didn't have FB, Instagram, TikTok, etc, etc... so yes, we did go out often and had ALOT of fun (which cannot come back to haunt us, since we didn't have FB, Instagram... 😅)!!!
A more recent release of the Pet Shop Boys "Thursday ft. Example". I just stumbled upon it on a playlist. Another great song, cool progression and rhythm.
My favourite pet shop boys song. Seriously underrated but a banger. Thanks for this! Left To My Own Devices is their next single released in 1988 and definitely worth a listen to by you guys. ♥️♥️♥️
You should also give a listen to the work Neil did with Bernard Sumner (New Order) and Johnny Marr (The Smiths) for Electronic. Disappointed and Getting Away With It are standouts.
I am 50+ years old and in my life I have listened to a lot of music and songs, but this one....this is and will be my favorite...and I finally see a reaction from it...thank you!!
This is one of the Pet Shop Boys songs that kind of got "left behind" as us Gen Xers moved into the 1990's. Another one is " Love Comes Quickly" from 1986.
Listen to the Pet Shop Boy's "Love etc" from 2009! It is a vibe with a message. The Pet Shop Boys are still putting out hits! They never had a bad song..
So… you can never have too many Andy Gibb reactions. I think Amber would love his song “Everlasting Love”. Andy was my very first concert. I was 15 and absolutely loved him.
Jay, I agree about the Latin feel of Domino Dancing. Please check out the Pet Shop Boys’ amazing collaboration with Dusty Springfield, What Have I Done To Deserve This. It’s a gorgeous song. I also strongly recommend Always On My Mind, Left To My Own Devices and Go West!
Saw PSB live last summer and they still absolutely kill it. I second the request for you guys to do their duet with Dusty Springfield ‘What Have I Done to Deserve This?’ and also their BIGGEST hit in the UK, their cover of the Elvis classic ‘Always On My Mind’, which is unlike anything you’d expect if you know the original.
Guys...the musical genius behind the pet shop boys is Chris Lowe.....very rarely has any emotion in the videos or on live performances....but has a killer sense of humor on interviews.......been a fan of PSB since mid 1980s living in uk......
One of my favourite bands from the 80s. I loved most of their stuff. They’re very very talented. You were always on my mind was one of my favourites and it was also sung by The One and Only Willie Nelson.
I like this group, they’re from England, I love groups from there…The Moody Blues, Pink Floyd & Procol Harum all became famous in the 60’s, besides The Beatles & so many other British bands, which you guys have played some of their songs. You guys do a good job! 👏👏💜💜
I often had PSB in the cassette tape deck on my 84 Chevy Cavalier. One of their best songs (I think) is "What Have I Done To Deserve This" with the fabulous Ms. Dusty Springfield. They also did a great synthpop version of "You Were Always On My Mind." They have so so many great songs and they're honestly all pretty great.
I grew up in the 70s,80s . class of 81. The club scene was tough. AIDS, Nuclear Winter, END TIMES , and after surviving all the excess (and massive credit card debt), we still played actually real instruments, and people could actually SING! And party!
I had an instant crush on the girl in this video when it came out. Those eyes and the dimple on the chin 😍😍🥵 Such a great song. Still holds up all these years later.
You are correct indeed noticing the Latin sound. This was in the heart of the mid to late 80’s when Madonna was mega successful appealing the Latin sound with horns , guitars etc. Think La Isla Bonita and also groups like Expose. It was huge in Miami Music Scene and this video was shot In Puerto Rico and the guy behind a lot of the creativity for video was Bruce Webber
The video of this song was filmed entirely in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Even the City of San Juan police horse patrol agreed to have a role in the actual video besides offering security to the production team while on location.
Not sure if anyone has commented on this yet but this song came about as The Pet Shop boys were touring America and kept hearing the group Expose' (who you reacted one song to before) and they liked them so much they contacted thier producer to help them create an Expose' vibe to the song.
I had their debut album "Please" on cassette and practically wore it out in my Walkman. They've got so many memorable hits. Love them! "Love Comes Quickly" and "Violence" were my faves from that album.
Although they are known for their hits in the 80s and 90s, they have never stopped recording hit music. You should listen to some of their more recent hits, like Minimal, Vocal, I Don't Wanna, Thursday (feat Example), Dreamland (with Years & Years (Oly Alexander)), and most recently, Loneliness. Of course, Left to My Own devices became their signature song in the 90s, so that's a great pick, too!
Legit just the other day I was thinking "Man Rob Squad haven't been near Pet Shop Boys for a while!"...this is so good. My fave PSB song, Domino Dancing. But so many other great tunes.
Hey guys, thanks for doing another request. This one is fun. I do suggest "It's A Sin" next. Such a great 80's sound and band. Song Suggestion: Erasure--Chains Of Love.

One of my favourite groups of the 80's. Definitely check out their duet with Dusty Springfield - 'What Have I Done to Deserve This?' Also 'Suburbia', 'Left to my Own Devices', 'Rent' and 'Opportunities '
The Pet Shop Boys worked with producer Lewis Martinee for this one. They worked with Martinee because he had produced Expose's dance pop hits like Come Go With Me ( which you have done), Point of No Return, Exposed to Love and Let me be the One (all of which you should check out--Expose perfect for Female friday) and wanted to have some of Expose's sound for this song.

A more recent release of the Pet Shop Boys "Thursday ft. Example". I just stumbled upon it on a playlist. Another great song, cool progression and rhythm.
I love this song. I have this in the car and play it on hot summer nights!!
Great choice. 😁
I have Electronic... Disappointed. Absolutely love it
"It's A Sin" and "Love Comes Quickly"
I am 50+ years old and in my life I have listened to a lot of music and songs, but this one....this is and will be my favorite...and I finally see a reaction from it...thank you!!
What Have I Done to Deserve This featuring Dusty Springfield.
The Pet Shop Boys always had the best remixes. Also, this song came out during the Latin boom in pop music with Miami Sound Machine and Expose.
Tennant said, in an interview, they wrote this for Madonna but, then backed out if submitting it. I've wanted to hear her cover it, since then.
39 years a fan. All time favourite band. I’m going to see them live end of the month. ❤
Love the fact that Pet Shop Boys ventured in the latin freestyle music genre for this track, which was big between 1985-1988.
Oooooo...Yessssss!
One of my very favorites from PSB.
Neil's voice is so uniquely sublime.
Completely sophisticated, yet soothing.
Nostalgia overload! Taking me back to taping songs off the radio on a Sunday evening in the 80s❤
Depeche Mode live in concert “never let me down again”. I guarantee you’ll love it
One of the best discoteke songs in 80'!! I remember wow❤🔥💃🏼🕺🏼🔥❤️
These two are one many legends of the 80’s
Guys...the musical genius behind the pet shop boys is Chris Lowe.....very rarely has any emotion in the videos or on live performances....but has a killer sense of humor on interviews.......been a fan of PSB since mid 1980s living in uk......
The Pet Shop Boys has one of my favorite Christmas songs “It doesn’t often snow at Christmas “
And party!
Legendary band! Lovely❤
Donna Bottman's stripy shirt and cropped top could be worn today and nobody would blink an eye. 80s style is back.
I had an instant crush on the girl in this video when it came out. Those eyes and the dimple on the chin 😍😍🥵
Such a great song.
This is one of the best produced songs of the 80s. Mighty Chris Lowe, the Kaiser on the synthesizer.
Severely underrated song from the Boys! Love this song
This is the their best song for me,and that video bring me back to my childhood.
Thank you for reacting to one of my favorite Pet Shop Boys songs.
My I suggest, What Have I done To Deserve This as your next Pet Shop Boys reaction.
Not sure if anyone has commented on this yet but this song came about as The Pet Shop boys were touring America and kept hearing the group Expose' (who you reacted one song to before) and they liked them so much they contacted thier producer to help them create an Expose' vibe to the song.
PSB - confident in their own skin, sounds, imagery and with a loyal audience
I had their debut album "Please" on cassette and practically wore it out in my Walkman. They've got so many memorable hits. Love them! "Love Comes Quickly" and "Violence" were my faves from that album.
Pet Shop Boys said they were influenced by the latin sound going on at the time. A song of the times, and what a great time it was.
I miss the 80's, so much... Love me some Pet Shop Boys!
I always loved PSB and this is one of my favorite their songs ever. ❤🇦🇷
Legit just the other day I was thinking "Man Rob Squad haven't been near Pet Shop Boys for a while!"...this is so good. My fave PSB song, Domino Dancing. But so many other great tunes.
Saw them at Hollywood Bowl last summer with New Order. I have video of the entire venue singing the Domino Dancing chorus! Epic concert!
“Almost a Latin feel to it” there is, it’s called “Freestyle” a genre of music with Latin roots.
Hey guys, thanks for doing another request. This one is fun. I do suggest "It's A Sin" next. Such a great 80's sound and band. Song Suggestion: Erasure--Chains Of Love.
They’ve already done It’s a Sin.
What have i done to deserve this? would blow any of the songs out of the water !!! Just read a few comments below here. I first started hearing my brother listening to your videos. I was like what is that you are watching. Now i have can say i have seen more than he has now. I love the pink floyd shirts!!! Thanks for the chill time at home, its what i watch most on you tube! GO LIONS!
One of my favourite groups of the 80's. Definitely check out their duet with Dusty Springfield - 'What Have I Done to Deserve This?' Also 'Suburbia', 'Left to my Own Devices', 'Rent' and 'Opportunities '
What have I dont to deserve this is a must especially as it has Dusty Springfield guesting on vocals too
Pioneers ... for sure! They brought new souds. AHEAD OF THEIR TIME!!!
Their big hit I remember was "West End Girls".
jEEZ ! Haven't heard this song for absolute years-what a wonderful trip to hear it again! The universe of music is indeed endless don't hesitate to visit😉
