For me personally, this is the final version of this song. I also like their version of "Go West", originally by the Village People. They also copletely turned the twist.
Pet Shop Boys have had a phenomenal number of hit singles and this includes numerous classic. Try It’s a Sin, Rent, Being Boring or their cover of U2s Where The Streets Have No Name.
Hi Jayvee! You could play absolutely any song by the Pet Shop boys and you will love it. They never had a bad song period. A very successful amazing group to listen to
❤ the Pet Shop Boys. They have so many great songs: It's a Sin, Love Comes Quickly, Opportunities, Being Boring, Heart...and the list just goes on and on.
The 80’s was all dancing songs! 😅 Agree with the others who said What Have I Done to Deserve This, sung with Dusty Springfield. She was an icon in the 60’s. You did her, Song of a Preacher Man
Man Pet Shop Boys had some real bangers. Go West, Opportunities, Heart, Rent, Its a Sin, Domino Dancing, West End Girls, Suburbia, Left to my Own Devices, Absolutely Fabulous. I'd certainly recommend reacting to some of those!
They also did an amazing cover of U2's song 'Where The Streets Have No Name'. Other recommendations: - It's A Sin - Opportunities - What Have I Done To Deserve This - Left To My Own Devices - Suburbia - Domino Dancing (the extended version)
I still remember the moment I heard a bit of this song in my music class at school. I was blown away by it and just a couple of days later I was buying their best of... album and starting my dive into the music of the Pet Shop Boys. I have never looked back. Glad you loved this almost as much as me😂😂
On the rare occasions they covered a song it was always with the greatest respect for the original composer and artist/s, and definitely so in this case, too.
Its a Sin is my favorite Pet Shop Boys song. You should also check out "getting away with it" by Electronic. Electronic were a supergroup with several line ups, but in this song it was Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys, Bernard Sumner of Joy Division / New Order and Johnny Marr of the Smiths.
Popular artists at the time were asked to do cover versions of Elvis songs for a tv special for an anniversary show of his death here in the U.K. After doing this for the show, everyone said “you have to release this” it went to number one later that year!
The video was basically a promo for their surreal film "It Couldn't Happen Here", which includes many of their early songs - Hence Joss Ackland in the back of the car, and the seemingly random events going on.
"Monotonous," heh. Yup. Highly recommend OPPORTUNITIES and the one they did as a duet that resurrected Dusty Springfield's career: What Have I Done to Deserve This? All their songs have a good groove to them. They were big on the club scene. Lots of remixes of these tracks too.
i've always loved this version and you described your reaction really well, i agreed with what you said, better than i could analyse it. There just something so cool about the haunting vocals to the energy of this track it does really work. You reactions are always so interesting i really enjoy your channel.. all the best.
This really is one of the best versions of this song, if not the best. I'm biased as I've always been a massive PSB fan. So Hard, Being Boring, and Red Letter Day are other favs of mine from PSB.
The duo made this cover (with a bit simpler mix) for an anniversary Elvis special on BBC. The success was so exploding they decided to make a single of it. The first recorded version was by Brenda Lee and - though Gwen McCrae's version came out first - Brenda made it a hit first time
Absolutely love Pet Shop Boys. One of my very favorites is It's Alright. Not the video but the 2018 Remastered version. It's long (9.27 min) but ever so worth it. The music goes on and on and on and on......
If you want more upbeat synth pop type stuff then please check out Erasure (songs: A Little Respect, Blue Savannah, Oh L'Amour) and New Order (songs True Faith, Blue Monday, Bizarre Love Triangle). You'll love them! :)
The song was originally written in the key of B-flat major, and first recorded by B. J. Thomas in that key, and later by John Wesley Ryles in 1979. Brenda Lee recorded it in C major and Elvis recorded it in G major. Willie Nelson recorded the song in E-flat major but he played it in live concerts in the key of D major.
I love this song! All the versions! Willie Nelson’s version was my parents “song”. Pet Shop Boys are awesome! I’ve always loved club music, especially club versions of popular songs. 🥰
I love this and always have, the song has a haunting sound though its upbeat, it has an echo effect that I really like. I love Elvis singing this but this is very different and just as lovely. I do like how you can hear every word so distinctly and the music is so well played. Thank you for reminding me not only of this wonderful song but The Pet Shop Boys as well. Take care and stay safe please my friends God bless you all love hugs and peace to everyone Mary-Ellen UK
Psb seem to have been a bit lost in music but in the late 80's they were the coolest band about very big in Europe and took euro dance mainstream. Loafs of hits. The remixes are usually even better.
This might be the most majestic and biggest sounding pop song ever. It's just incredibly good. Btw., gotta love the last words the guy spoke in the video, they're lyrics from the Pet Shop Boys song "What have I done to deserve this" (another banger you need to check out!)
This is a banger! Love the house remix too! Bought them on vinyl 12" back in the day and still love them! 😍👍🇬🇧 Ha ha made you speechless! 🤣 Try the Elvis Presley version for a more chilled version!
I haven't watched the video with the intro and outro for ages, and obviously I couldn't see it very well, but when I listed to him properly, it was quite clearly Joss Ackland! Such a recognisable voice! Anyway, fantastic song, great band.
They are so good. I'm going to watch them live this year, can't wait! They are sophisticated in electronics, speedy songs and fun! They have their unique eclectic sound, exquisite sound production.
English actor Josh Ackland sitting in the Backseat. Doing a little psycho act. He is still alive aged 93. Did his first movie in 1949 (uncredited) and 1950 (credited). Last appearence in 2014. Great character actor
Yes!! THANK you so much, beautiful reaction to this gem. And yes, it is so good when an artist can redo a song, add something fresh to it, and also giving respects to what came before. I love that I can now also (yet again) cross another ditty off my JayveeTV Bingo card ;) ... O'jays - Love Train Pat Benatar - We Belong Band Aid - Do they know it's Christmas Cocteau Twins - Carolyn's Fingers The Jam - That's Entertainment Lisa Gerrard - Now We Are Free New Order - Regret Wings - Silly Love Songs The Pogues - Fairytale of New York David Bowie - Heroes Phil Collins - Take Me Home or Genesis - Follow You Follow Me Fleetwood Mac - Don't Stop/Go Your Own Way/Gypsy Procol Harum - Conquistador Buzzcocks - Ever Fallen In Love The Beautiful South - A Little Time Sarah McLachlan - Adia/Sweet Surrender The Go-Go's - Head Over Heels/We Got The Beat Moody Blues - Question New Radicals - You Get What You Give Pet Shop Boys - Always On My Mind/What Have I Done To Deserve This The Jesus and Mary Chain - Head On/The Hardest Walk Fine Young Cannibals - Suspicious Minds Portishead - Glory Box
The version on Introspective "Always on My Mind / In My House" has a lovely extra melody, although I'm not so fond of the house bit. "It's a Sin" is a fantastic record, particularly the extended version.
A brilliant cover version of Elvis' song! I always get this feeling of wanting to hug the world when listening to this version of Pet Shop Boys. Great choice, Jovaughn!
Beautifully and soulfully interpreted by Neil Tennant, PSB managed to turn this ballad into a synth-pop anthem now widely considered one of their masterpieces and one of the best cover songs of all time. Love it!!
I love this song of them. Great cover of Elvis Presley's song. Another fun song of them is New York City Boy. Another 2 favorites I love is domino dancing and it's a sin.
Pet Shop Boys are the undisputed masters of the cover. This song, "Go West," "Where the Streets Have No Name," and even an amazing cover of Bruce Springsteen in 2013's Electric, "The Last to Die."
I don't know for you guys but I prefer this version over Presley's version. Something is so nostalgic about melody of this song. I get that feeling like I lived in 80's and I'm having flashbacks of it but sadly I didn't, I was born in 2002.
They did this masterpiece of a song complete justice by adding another whole level of depth and feeling to it. It is my favorite song of the entire 80's. The cinema quality video kills it as well...
I listened to it walking home from work today ! Often voted the best cover song ever in the UK 🇬🇧 it is in my all time top 10 songs … they are touring in the UK and booked to see them in May can not wait ! I would recommend Heart by PBS the vampire in the video is Ian McKellen 😍
Absolutely love Pet Shop Boys! Their song ‘Opportunities’ was in an Allstate commercial last year so you may recognize it. But as others have already mentioned PSB has a lot of great songs, you can’t go wrong with any.
This was one of my husband's favourite songs. We played it at his funeral last year as he always wanted.
🥺😭😭. Sorry for your loss. That’s amazing that you played it at his request. I can’t imagine how many people lost it.
This is the best version and best cover of all time, a true masterpiece.
"Opportunities (Let's Make Lots Of Money)" is one of my favorites from them.
Me too!! Hands down the best song of theirs!
My favourite pet shop boys songs. Completely agree with the haunting voice fitting so well with the upbeat instrumental
EXACTLYY
I hope your next Pet Shop Boys reaction is "What Have I Done to Deserve This," featuring the great Dusty Springfield.
For me personally, this is the final version of this song.
I also like their version of "Go West", originally by the Village People. They also copletely turned the twist.
Go West is a banger, especially when blasting it from a car stereo with the windows down in the summertime!
Pet Shop Boys have had a phenomenal number of hit singles and this includes numerous classic. Try It’s a Sin, Rent, Being Boring or their cover of U2s Where The Streets Have No Name.
and many more.
Domino dancing.
Listen to PSB Heart.
you missed West End Girl
I forgot they did the U2 cover. Thanks for reminding me.
Heart, Love Comes Quickly and NYC Boy are iconic, emotional and nostalgic. My favourites among many, many great songs.
West end girls
What Have I Done to Deserve This! I looove the instrumentation in that song!! (You already did West End Girls I’m sure)
YES!!!!
80’s synth pop can’t be beat.
The 80’s was all dancing songs! 😅
Agree with the others who said What Have I Done to Deserve This, sung with Dusty Springfield. She was an icon in the 60’s. You did her, Song of a Preacher Man
I beg to differ, I really don't think Pink Floyd's 80's songs led to people dancing... lol
Other recommendations:
- It's A Sin
- Opportunities
- What Have I Done To Deserve This
- Left To My Own Devices

One of my favourite songs of all time by Pet shop boys 🤗
Elvis did a version of this song too 🤗
@@geraldinemcguckin741 this one did way better
This is one of the few covers that I like more than the original.
same!!
Agreed
I still remember the moment I heard a bit of this song in my music class at school.

Thanks. I couldn’t remember the actor’s name!
Liza Minnellis's too. "Losing my mind"
i've always loved this version and you described your reaction really well, i agreed with what you said, better than i could analyse it. Pet shop boys is the Best electro duo of the history. Many, many songs and all very good.
Listen to “what have I done to deserve this”
A brilliant cover version. I've seen Pet Shop Boys in concert many times and this track is so good live.
The duo made this cover (with a bit simpler mix) for an anniversary Elvis special on BBC. The success was so exploding they decided to make a single of it.

Top 80s Duo ever!!! The kings in made sad high NRG songs to dance!

Omg I was about to comment on them lol
Love the Pet Shop Boys.
As a kid in the 80s I used to be obsessed with the Pet Shop Boys, their sound, voice, videos sooo ultra catchy-still always on my mind!
Love Love LOVE the Pet Shop Boys!!!! ✨🙏🏽💕✨
From same album, "What Have I Done to Deserve This?" is their masterpiece imho.
Holy SHIIIIITE THIS IS THE SOUNDTRACK OF MY LIFE. PSB late 1980’s electric/dance/pop synth. WOW THIS IS MY SPIRIT!!!! I’m soaring
Pet Shop Boys are dance club 💃 🩰 🕺 icons. Always a banger and always catchy.
A true pop masterpiece. I love this song so much.
Aprender a gostar dessa música depois de Pet Shop Boys!
Eles deram vida a essa música!
Com o Elvis é muito melancólica!
Salve Pet Shop Boys!❤❤❤❤❤❤

The last line he says in the video is the actual lyrics of their song they did with Dusty Springfield, 'What Have I Done to Deserve This?'
This is one of the best covers EVER made , epic , timeless , they made a beautiful rendition making it their own. PSB living legends !!
I love this and always have, the song has a haunting sound though its upbeat, it has an echo effect that I really like. I love Elvis singing this but this is very different and just as lovely. This might be the most majestic and biggest sounding pop song ever. It's just incredibly good.
Btw., gotta love the last words the guy spoke in the video, they're lyrics from the Pet Shop Boys song "What have I done to deserve this" (another banger you need to check out!)
If it hasn't already been mentioned, the video us part of a surreal feature film, "It Couldn't Happen Here".
only just realised Joss Ackland's last words in this are lyrics of the PSB song 'What have I done to deserve this'!🤯😂
Yes! I was just going to say that. Great song :)
Awe this is one of my favorite songs!!

This is a banger! Love the house remix too! Bought them on vinyl 12" back in the day and still love them! 😍👍🇬🇧 Ha ha made you speechless! 🤣 Try the Elvis Presley version for a more chilled version!

THE BEST remake I have ever heard!
I like the singers vocals, super unique. This listen is a first for me too! I know there is an older cover, but never knew they did this. I like it!!
Their song ‘Heart’ is one of my favourite songs ever and the video for it featuring Sir Ian McKellen as a vampire is just the best!
'Heart' and 'Domino Dancing' are my favourite Pet Shop Boys songs, check them out!, the videos are brilliant too
The version on Introspective "Always on My Mind / In My House" has a lovely extra melody, although I'm not so fond of the house bit. "It's a Sin" is a fantastic record, particularly the extended version.
I first knew this song from Elvis Presley but love the Pet Shop Boys version and the long dance club version is even better!
One of my favorite bands, and one of my favorite songs amongst many. The arrangement and composition and sound is just one of their best.
Great song choice, fantastic song!
A brilliant cover version of Elvis' song! I always get this feeling of wanting to hug the world when listening to this version of Pet Shop Boys. Great choice, Jovaughn!
Best pop group of all time.
I often listen to this song cause it feels like my own mind is singing it for me.
Beautifully and soulfully interpreted by Neil Tennant, PSB managed to turn this ballad into a synth-pop anthem now widely considered one of their masterpieces and one of the best cover songs of all time. Love it!!
I would say upbeat and haunting at the same time
Before you children know about EDM, Trance, Electro-hip hop etc...........this is the legend 😁
Good reaction! Thought you summed it up really well! Such a brilliant cover and they truly made it their own!
I love this song of them. Great cover of Elvis Presley's song. Another fun song of them is New York City Boy. Another 2 favorites I love is domino dancing and it's a sin.
Great cover of Elvis Presley’s great cover of Brenda Lee’s song.🙂
@@youtpfpm6097 I didn't know she did the original version. Thank you for letting me know. I'll search for her version.
Absolutely love this song.It was Christmas number 1 in the UK in 1987
Famously beating out Fairytale of New York.
Love this song
One of the best covers of all time
The Pet Shop Boys really made that songs their own.
Pet Shop Boys are the undisputed masters of the cover. This song, "Go West," "Where the Streets Have No Name," and even an amazing cover of Bruce Springsteen in 2013's Electric, "The Last to Die."

You’re right about the different cover versions. For a more modern Petshop Boys song, check out Invisible.
Wow Discos back in the day memories!!! Definite throwback tune and still a helluva cover!

I think I have to agree. Best cover version ever.
Only matched by Disturbed doing Sound Of Silence.
My favourite Pet Shop Boys song - best listened to loud! Also a hit by Willie Nelson and Elvis Presley.
I was so scared of that man in de backseat when i was little 😄
This is how that era feels.; sad song, haunting voice, in a fast beat.
BTW, The bit at the end of the old man (how am I gonna get through) is a quote from What Have I Done to Deserve This by PSB.
Wow!!! PSB!!! 🇬🇧 😲👏👏👏
You friend, could comments one of their song with two versions: "Paninaro" (original of 1986 and other most tecno of 1995) 😉🤘
Left to my own devices is their best!
You should check out the 12” remix. Also it’s a sin. Thanks.
Another I've listened to at work today too. And singing along again. Have loved these guys since the 80's. Classic British electronic pop.😁🎶👍📀❤️
Best songs from the 80s....extraordinary and beautiful!!Originally a song performed by Elvis Presley!!!!!
Absolutely love Pet Shop Boys! Their song ‘Opportunities’ was in an Allstate commercial last year so you may recognize it. But as others have already mentioned PSB has a lot of great songs, you can’t go wrong with any.
Listen to west end girls, violence, and what have I done to deserve this
Luv the pet shop boys 🤎🤎✌🏾✌🏾
Les PSB seront toujours dans mon esprit.
Super groupe que j'ai eu l'occasion de voir à Londres et à Paris.
My favourite version of this song!
