The female singer of the shocking blues had a better voice than the knock of version from the singers of banana rama.
      He voice was more unique.

Siobhan Fahey, the short blonde-haired member of Bananarama went on to form the group "Shakespears Sister" in 1988. You guys played the song "Stay" about 7 months ago and really liked the video. She had black hair in that duo/group.

Fun Boy 3 was formed by Nev, Terry, and Lyn, when they left The Specials. Banarama sings alongside Tery Hall. Also, Terry cowrote "Out lips are sealed" with Jane Wiedlin from the Go Go's. FB3 did a great version of Our Lips are sealed. If you haven't checked out The Specials, you should. Two-tone Ska at its best! 💜💜💜

You can get all the way from the Specials in the 70s to Shakespeares Sister in the 90s through Bananarama.
The Specials split up and started Fun Boy Three, with the Bananarama girls as their backing vocals. The girls became Bananarama and then Siobhan split off to start Shakespeares Sister with Marcella Detroit.
It would be fun to have you see the progression by watching a Fun Boy Three video like "it aint what you do (its the way that you do it)".
Especially as you've already seen videos by all the other groups.

Thanks for this reaction... Bananarama joined the 'Stock, Aitken and Waterman' factory that produced other names such as Dead or Alive, Kylie Minogue, Rick Astley, Divine, Hazel Dean and even some Donna Summer, to name a few. They were a 'hit making' studio from the late 80s, then it all dried up when the sound of music changed and got heavier etc. and moved direction. Still, they had some amazing songs for their time!

See the 4:36 and 5:14 mark (among other times)--it's like a vertical, interchanging, wave-type of motion. If you did it, inevitably, someone on the dance floor would see it and repeat it back to you. When the girls went to Stock, Aitken and Waterman to produce the song, they told them they wanted it to sound much like "You spin me round (like a record)" by Dead or Alive.. and it's quite evident

Great cover. This imo became the song that took Bananarama into the global stratosphere! It also launched the Stock/Aitken/Waterman sound that ould give us Rick Astley later. This song waa awesome to play in my all Synth band I was in back at university. There was also a male spoof version that friends and I wrote.

I just noticed the 1st couple were French Apache dancers. The Apache is a dance in which the male dancer tries to demolish the female dancer throwing the female to the floor and draging across the floor as she desperately tries to hold on to her man. Well in this song the roles have reversed it is the female throwing (pushing) the man away as he desperately tries to get with her, LOL.

This is pretty standard stuff from the Stock, Aitken and Waterman catalogue of the time, including massive hits from Kylie Minogue, Dead or Alive and themselves in their own name. The best of their own was probably 'Road Block'. You would love that. Æx

This was Bananarama's only US # 1 hit to date. The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart twice. The original by Shocking Blue topped the chart for one week on February 7th 1970 becoming the group's only US chart topper. The Bananarama's cover topped the Hot 100 chart for one week on September 6th 1986. This is one of nine songs to date to top the Hot 100 chart in two separate versions by different artists. Bananarama was the first British female group to top the US chart out of a total of two to date. The only other British female group to achieve this since was Spice Girls with Wannabe which topped the Hot 100 chart for four weeks beginning February 22nd 1997.

I have one for you that you probably had no clue of at the time.
8 Months ago you did What About Love by Heart . Well it was a Cover. Now the cover only a Demo but needs to be heard.
Canadian group Toronto wrote it, and recorded a Demo of it for their "...On Credit..." album. The husband and wife lead guitarist writers brought it to Management who said it was to syrupy so not going on the album, so there it died. Led to the end of the band as the writers were tired of it happening again.
Three years later Heart were offered it and as you know when Multiple Country Top 10-20 and Heart was back. Now Heart redid it almost note to note, but had Grace Slick on back up the big difference. Toronto's vocalist was as close to Ann as it could be at the time.
    Enjoy.
