Steve Stevens (guitar) is responsible for a significant amount of the 'Billy Idol' sound - very under-rated but behind many iconic tunes - such as the original Top Gun anthem.
Steve Stevens, also released a single album, I remember a song/ video , called "atomic, play boys , or something like, that, that song and video would make a great reaction , video,!
Totally agree, Steve is an incredible guitar player. He and Billy have a synergy that makes the whole greater than the sum of its parts, I think. Just a great musical partnership for many decades, and I am so glad to still see them together, releasing new music, touring, and enjoying what they do so well.
It was an incredible time, and a music era that is unmatched in originality, creativity, and was so innovative with sound! Groups like Depeche Mode, New Order, The Cure, and Pet Shop Boys are more modern-sounding than anything produced today.
@@Teraxx23come on, that was a super fun song! It might have been overplayed back then, but you almost never hear it now. As part of his overall catalog, I think it fit surprisingly well.
BILLY IDOL: the "sexy-bad-boy" of the 80s.... WE LOVED HIM!! (Still do!!) GREAT SONG - REALLY LOUD in the nightclubs!! THANKS for the REACTION, YOU-GUYS!! HUGS!
I like it a lot, but for me my Top 2 Billy Idol songs are “Rebel Yell” and “Dancing with Myself”. But he’s got several I like a lot including “Flesh for Fantasy”.
If you read his book, you can see how dark his life has really been. His idol was Elvis, so that's where his lip snarl comes in and his last name "Idol" was coined due to a chemistry teacher's description of Idol on his school report card as "idle". William Michael Albert Broad, known professionally as Billy Idol, is a British and American singer.
Yessssssss !!!!! He was my first concert st Astro world in Houston Texas 1983 ish summertime. He came out in a tiny white towel around his waist and a martini. The coolest thing ever 😎❤
And you weren't? I remember being it when I was a kid. Eventually I ran and touched someone else and they of course consequently became it. Good times.
I recently saw a reply Billy gave to someone asking "How do you do that curled lip grimace / smile thing ? " Billy answered "Think of Someone You Love & Hate at the same time ..." 😁
I remember when this video premiered on MTV. They always made a big deal about it whenever a new Billy Idol video came out. The VJ's really seemed to enjoy saying the name of this track, lol.
Man this brings me back to the early 80's! Another group and song you two might enjoy (especially J) from that same era is "Two Tribes" by Frankie Goes To Hollywood!
Love Billy Idol, saw him live last year and he's still got that appeal. Cradle of Love is my favourite along with Eyes without a face and Dancing with myself
Check out Billy Idol in his former band Generation X. Ready Steady Go and Dancing With Myself. Guitarist Steve Stevens - Atomic Playboys and also him playing guitar for Vince Neil (Motley Crue) on The Edge. Phenomenal guitar work.
If you wanted to check out some really early Billy Idol, check out Generation X, the punk band he was part of in the late 70s; they were peers of The Clash, The Jam and the Sex Pistols (Billy was originally an early clique of early UK punk fans called The Bromley Contingent, along w/ Siouxsie and Steve Severin from The Banshees)- "Your Generation", "Wild Youth", "Ready Steady Go", "Day By Day", "Runnin' With The Boss Sound", etc.- all punk classics.
Jay and Amber it's hard to remember which BIlly Idol songs youve done without looking back. I loved this song. Another good one to check out is cradle of love.
Billy Idol is a badass punk! An originator. Still no others like him. Rebel Yell is proof. And that lip is a nod to my boyfriend Elvis. Any Elvis managould have some bad boy in him. ~Red
Back in '87 I worked for awhile as a bartender in a hotel bar called The Continental Club in Emporia, KS. I often covered for the regular DJ on weekends because he preferred to shmooze around, get plastered, and leave early for various college parties. The Continental Club was the upscale bar in town, lots of upper crust clientele. This is the song I used to lure these folks out onto the dance floor, opening like it does with its slow, cool vibe. When the song ramped up later, it was too late for my semi-inebriated victims... they were already on the floor and they didn't want to look like cowards by retreating back to their tables. Six or seven songs later, they were jumping around like a bunch of drunken teenagers. Ahhh, happy days. For your next Billy Idol song, "CRADLE OF LOVE" ua-cam.com/video/NCZuYS-9qaw/v-deo.html is a dandy. Nice pick today, guys!
LET'S GO!!! This was a club anthem. I still have the 12". You can't pin Billy down to one style of music. Such diversity and so many good songs. Check out 'Got To Be A Lover' or 'Catch My Fall' (great sax).
Billy Idol's music is incredibly sexy and seductive. Takes me back to junior high days and early MTV. He's got so many hits from both the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. He still tours and I've had the pleasure of seeing him twice in concert most recently in 2016 in Vegas and he looked and sounded great!!! Y'all should also check out "To Be A Lover", It's got a killer guitar riff and soulful backing vocals.
Agree with those below on Cradle of Love, another huge rocking one. I’d really suggest at some point hearing Bitter Taste. Cradle of Love was right after his motorcycle crash, while Bitter Taste is just about a year old and is about that crash. He still sounds great!
Eyes Without A Face is a must

It’s definitely one of my favorites of the hundreds of great 80s songs!

And he's still playing with Billy Idol today. Gotta love that kind of long-standing partnership.
Billy Idol will always get an immediate click from me! This song for me feels like a great middle ground of the 80's music vibe.
" Hot in the city" by Billy Idol 😊
Cradle of love banger by Billy idol 🔥🔥🔥🔥 definitely worth a listen
Billy Idol was so HUGE back in the day!
My FAVE Billy Idol song. Then EYES WITHOUT A FACE, HOT IN THE CITY,
WHITE WEDDING &
REBEL YELL.
I was so disappointed when I saw Billy Idol for the Cradle of Love Tour in the early 90s and they didn't play it 😢 Eyes Without A Face, that is.

Billy Idol - Cradle Of Love
Cradle of Love is a banger.
"Hot In The City" is another Billy Idol gem you should check out.
Absolutely!
Billy Idol; Flesh for Fantasy ALWAYS 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hot in the City is another good one from Billy Idol.
Sweet Sixteen by him is very different. Excellent song.
Agrred. It's much softer - even when he flips us off! - and I think Amber in particular will like it a lot.
His song, Hot In the City is fun
Ugh, please no. Likely his worst track by far - overplayed and goofy!
I'm with you db. Billy's original sound before the label started molding his image.

Dancing with myself

Never in a million years did I think in the 80s that BFI would still be touring in 2024! Saw him last year and he is still great!!
Me too! Great tour last year, and he still has it!
