The PSB were my go to band as an off the path quirky gay teen. Chris and Neil are still both inspirations to me. They sang about what I was living through / with. SO many amazing Pet Shop Boys that are simply wonderful. A great newer song to listen to is "The Pop Kids". It harks back to the death of rock and the rise of Pop. Neil was a pop journalist of a massive teen magazine called Smash Hits, and decided he could make better pop music than many other artists. They did!!!! Big love B and lots of love as always from Ireland.
Given the time this was produced the video had to be heteronormative and only subliminally homoerotic= commercial success. This is a reminder that there has in fact now been some progress on that front.
"Domino Dancing" is my all-time Pet Shop Boys favorite song. This music video also exists in extended form with the extended remix of the song and the extended remix is pretty Amazing : with vinyl scratches and insane effects on both the vocals and the music. A must hear AND a must-see. I was young and maybe naïve when the song was released because I didn't notice back then the homo-eroticism in the music video but since a lot of people see it, I really must have been naïve. But it is rumored that the Pet Shop Boys became less popular in the U.S. because of the homo-eroticism of this music video. They only could came back on the top of the U.S. dance charts only 5 years later with their Village People cover of "Go West".
Yay! Excellent choice as always.. You were spot on... Those guys want each other bad and probably ended up dating or at least sleeping together.. So much more amazing PSB to discover!
So good to see another Pet Shop Boys reaction from you. In terms of next songs to listen to, I'd suggest 'Suburbia', Always On My Mind', 'Flamboyant' or 'Love etc.'. There are so many great songs though, so whatever you listen to I'm sure you'll love it.
The song is about the Aids crisis of the 80's - the lyric - all day, all day, watch them all fall down is about friends of the Pet Shop Boys who were dying at the time
I had such a crush on these boys when i was a teen!!! Great song also. It was filmed in Puerto Rico and both those boys were boricuas. You should really do Go West. The video is corny, but god, total anthem from my clubbing days, SUCH good memories. So Hard is also a really good track of PSB.
Some of the male models had more mince than the local butcher. Glad you like this, your choices are very varied. Keep smiling! ( good job you weren’t on that dance floor blood would of been spilled fighting over you).
Pet Shop Boys have something like 44 Top 40 hits in the UK, and 22 Top 10s. You have a long road ahead of you, but pleasant one to be sure. They continued to make great music up to the present day, though the US dropped them starting in the early 90s. The US is weird in how faddish their musical tastes are. What was big one year, is completely dead the next. It is unfortunate because thats how one misses a lot of good music. Some of PSB's recent hits include "Love, Etc.," "Minimal," "Did You See Me Coming," "Leaving," "Vocal," "Thursday," "The Pop Kids."
For those wondering, the meaning behind Domino Dancing is a lot less grim than some are saying. Chris Lowe had a friend the two used to play dominoes with. After he won, which was often, he would dance like a moron.
I remember Neil saying this as well and something about Domino Dancing being about someone so good looking they can have anyone they want because people just fall at their feet.
That may well have been the inspiration for the song, I'm not doubting you one bit, but the way it was taken and moved on in the lyrical content of the song and the video is a lot deeper. I don't think in its finished version it is just about two guys playing dominoes and how one guy acted after winning, but it's about a relationship, or relationships in general and how they can build you up and knock you down. The best songs can have multiple meanings anyway and take you on many journeys over many different listenings over many years imo.
You should totally listen to their album "Introspective." I think they're at their best when they make club bangers and Introspective is only those: 6 12-inch length songs (like 45 minutes). This song is on it but the album version is 7 minutes.
The song came out during the AIDS epidemic (1988) so it took on rather sombre over tones for me. 'Watch Them All Fall Down' meant watch them play around then watch them all fall like dominos (die of AIDS). Domino Dancing? Still always liked the song despite it all.
Have you read the lyrics? This isn't about AIDS or homosexuality. I don't know why, I don't know how I thought I loved you, but I'm not sure now I've seen you look at strangers too many times The love you want is of a, a different kind Remember when we felt the sun? A love like paradise, how hot it burned A threat of distant thunder, the sky was red And when you walked, you always turned every head watch them all fall down (All day, all day) domino dancing (All day, all day) watch them all fall down (All day, all day) domino dancing I thought that when we fought I was to blame But now I know you play a different game I've watched you dance with danger, still wanting more Add another number to the score watch them all fall down (All day, all day) domino dancing (All day, all day) watch them all fall down (All day, all day) domino dancing When you look around you wonder Do you play to win Or are you just a bad loser?
The original version on the Introspective album is even better. They had the idea to do full length versions then cut them for the singles rather than the other way round. From the same album do Left To My Own Devices
This is probably one of the most interesting video reactions ive ever seen. The thing is, the story of the video is very clear, a sexy girl and two guys, with a fight in the end between the two guys because of the girl, and thats it. Of course it has a strong latin vibe and it looks like it was probably shot in Brasil, Puerto Rico or some place in here. But, you say you got a Homoerotic vibe from this, and i just dont know from where 😂😄, and also, ive seen other people saying the same as you, talking about that Homoerotic feel of the video, but i just cant see that in it. And this is amazing, because Neil Tennant said in an interview that this video, and that "homoerotic" vibe that people got from it, changed their career forever, specially in the united states, they started to be less and less played on the radios, and their popularity really started to fall, because in those days homosexuality was really uncool, it was terrible, being gay was like a social death, and the perception of the public was really negative towards anything that portrayed homosexuality in any way. It was later Madonna who pushed the big change from 1990, showing who was the lgbt community through her work. Thank you so much for reacting to this video, im glad you liked it, the song its indeed amazing ☺️🇨🇱
Oh, if only the boy bands could just be duos what a better place the music industry would be, wait...that did not help Milli Vanilli, oh well. Always loved this song with Spanish guitar riffs in the break. It is funny to me how this video dates itself with the homoerotic displays of two bare chested GQ boys fighting over a girl in the waves, when all the Pet Shop Boys were interested in were the boys on the set. Yummy.
Wonderful song and thank you for the reaction. Maybe someday you will react to 'Can You Forgive Her?"😊 It is about a guy who realizes that he is gay while being in a straight relationship. Wonderful, powerful song and video and that year was amazing anyway because Neil Tennant came out and you can hear it on the whole album. It's a very happy album with amazing content. 'Go West' is amazing too or 'Dreaming of the Queen' 😊
Also, Ricky Martin was in Menudo in 1988. He wouldn't be in Menudo and then be some random background extra in the PSB's video. The turtleneck guy is the second love interest guy.
Pancake. Search for the extended video version for your delight. You will enjoy it, .I'd stake on it. Also, try their Very album. At the height of their powers! Pop never sounded so vibrant.
yes its the pet shop boys so very deliberately homoerotic. but also sexy for a straight audience. They were one of the first gay acts to crossover into a huge mainstream global audience. They had huge top 5 hits in america.
Pet shop boys were ahead of their time.35 years and the video is still awesome, plus they did pop music with latin vibes before anyone else.
How did I forget how much I love this song? Thank you for returning it to my playlist of favorites. 💜
Glad you enjoy it!
I was really obsessed with this video back in the day 😅
Pet Shop Boys have always been underrated from their prime to now.
This can only be said by someone who did not live through that time, the pet shop boys were absolutely massive throughout the world.
It does look like they were having fun in the water together, lol.
Indeed.
They are fighting on the beach for the girl, love that scene, very powerful.

Agreed!!! Thanks for watching! 😊❤
Wheeeee! Such Fun Era to be in!!
Haha i love you. Glad you finally reviewed one of my favorite PSB songs ❤️
Glad you enjoyed it!
I was missing the reactions to the Pet Shop Boys. This song is a classic! Try "Suburbia" or "Liberation" or "Left to my own devices".
The song is about the Aids crisis of the 80's - the lyric - all day, all day, watch them all fall down is about friends of the Pet Shop Boys who were dying at the time
I know I am quite off topic but does anybody know of a good website to stream newly released tv shows online ?
@Hugh Ace flixportal
@Damien Kashton thank you, I went there and it seems to work =) I really appreciate it!!
@Hugh Ace Happy to help xD
You sure know how to pick them😉 Thank you🌷🌷🌷🌷 And I believe it was a latex dress, even stickier in that heat😃
Like the song & video. LOVED your reaction!!!

Abso-bloody-lutley!!!.... One of my favourite albums of all time... The production especially on ‘Left to my own Devices’ is simply stunning 👌🏼
Truth. Best produced album of the 1980's.
Such a great song.
Left To My Own Devices from the same album as Domino Dancing and one of my favourite Pets tracks
I recommend Being Boring if you haven’t yet. Bruce Weber did the video and it’s gorgeous.
Since everyone I know hates my music choices, it was fun watching this with you 😆
I’m glad you enjoyed the video!! 😄

But now I know you play a different game
I've watched you dance with danger, still wanting more
Add another number to the score
watch them all fall down
(All day, all day) domino dancing
(All day, all day) watch them all fall down
(All day, all day) domino dancing
When you look around you wonder
Do you play to win
Or are you just a bad loser?

Introspective is wonderful, all extended mixes. My favorite is It's Alright, one of the best songs ever!
Enjoyed this a lot. As always. ;)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Ahhhhh, I see you already reacted to the pet shop boys…..you should react to “left to my own devices”

@@PancakeMarshmallowDude Thank you very much. I hope you will like it!

At 2:17…a young Ricky Martin making his video debut..complete with white turtleneck 😂
😂
That isn't Ricky Martin. It's Adalberto Martinez Mojica
@@LadyAudi correct! He’s the main love interest in the video, but Ricky Martin is one of the dancers in the club scene…white turtleneck.
@@TheCdavy David Boira is the main love interest. Adalberto is the other guy. This doesn't look like Ricky Martin.
Also, Ricky Martin was in Menudo in 1988. He wouldn't be in Menudo and then be some random background extra in the PSB's video. The turtleneck guy is the second love interest guy.
The video was shot in Puerto Rico so yeah, definite island vibe.
Seriously... how is this not a trailer for an early 90s Bel Ami movie?
Great question! 😂
Pancake. Search for the extended video version for your delight. You will enjoy it, .I'd stake on it.
Also, try their Very album. At the height of their powers! Pop never sounded so vibrant.
In the UK, PSB have released a live concert and album entitled Discovery. It's from 1994.
Check it out :)
This video cause all kinds of stirs, there is story in it.
Great video it made me laugh! You have to check out Flamboyant by them.
Thanks for watching!!
Un fuerte abrazo desde Cajamarca Perú.
❤❤❤
I see PSB reaction, I smash the like.
Thanks for watching!
Next React To Gloria Estefan, Miami Sound Machine - Conga But Amazing Reaction👍
Pet Shop Boys did a song with Kylie Minogue called "In Denial".
PSB uses many Latin sounds.

Oh was that mean girl beautiful. Boy was I missing the point.
yes its the pet shop boys so very deliberately homoerotic. but also sexy for a straight audience. They were one of the first gay acts to crossover into a huge mainstream global audience. They had huge top 5 hits in america.
Please take a look at Before by The Pet Shop Boys, very underated.
Remember when I suggested you watch Outside by George Michael?
For the same reason you need to react to Being Boring by the Pet Shop Boys 💖
I've already reacted to Being Boring 😊
what, two bros fighting shirtless in the sea, nothing homoerotic about that.
😂
@@PancakeMarshmallowDude You are right. Anno I never understand, why catfight two gay boys for model girl . :D
Donna Bottman is a goddess.
The video was actually banned from MTV, they classed it as Homoerotic. Two men fighting over a girl, yeah whatever.
