This is a great test my man! Thank you. So I just got my Komodo and I am curious about purchasing the Canon speed booster. Do you find yourself using the booster all the time or do you find yourself going back to a regular adapter (non booster)?
Thanks so much! I’ve kept it on for most of my stuff. I have a Tokina 11-16mm lens that is for crop sensors, so I’ll use the non-boosted adapter for that lens. Hopefully I can get the Canon 16-35mm soon and not have to switch the adapters though.
@@ajwilliamsmedia Awesome! Yeah I was just curious how worth it it was for me haha. I love the look of my Full Frame Sony FX3 and I was hoping this adapter would give me a similar look.
I did test that and the Viltrox has 0 problems with autofocus. The reason I didn’t include it in this video is because I still have the old firmware on my C70 at the moment, so it wouldn’t have been fair to the Canon Adapter.
@@ajwilliamsmedia ah ok I got it, I did a misunderstanding I think, because I saw a video from Josh channel and he show big purple in the center of the frame when shoot in back light situations! Thanks AJ your channel is very helpful bro! Keeping going!
My experience with the Viltrox R3 has been nothing but good. I haven’t had to update it even with all of the firmware updates canon has released for the C70. When I use it with some of my vintage glass, I do get some noticeable movement in the image when I pull focus. If you’re planning on using cinema glass or vintage glass, I’d go with the R3 Pro, but if you’re going to use autofocus, there’s no need to upgrade.
So I bought the viltrox 0.71x after I saw your video. Do thanks a ton for this. One quick question though I am using it on my C70 with 24-70 f2.8 canon. I dont really see the f2.8 change to f2. Is it even working ?
Technically it would probably work. BUT it’s not a good idea to put a speed booster in full frame sensors. That is… unless you can find a EF-mount large format lens. That would be an interesting experiment.
This is the first video I’ve seen speak to the light leak. Good info! Thanks!
Thanks for the review. Quality content!
Thanks so much!
excellent comparison test A.J. Thanks for that
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.

Totally. I love the full frame look and I like this adapter way more than I thought I would.
@@ajwilliamsmedia Thats great. Well thanks for all the info and keep up the great work!
This was really good, cheers! Would’ve loved a comparison of autofocus, are they close to identical?

@@ajwilliamsmedia excellent, good to hear it! Great video 👊🏻
Thanks so much!
Hey! Good video, but, how about the purple circle in the canon adapter when you are filming back lights silhouette? Thanks!
Hey thanks! That’s the light leak that I was talking about. Both the Viltrox and the Canon versions have leak so it’s kind of a subjective decision.

How is the Viltrox long term? Would you recommend the R3 or the R3 Pro for the C70? Or is it still better to go with the Canon one?

good
Can the Light leak be fixed by lens hoods ??! or its because of the elements in the speedbooster and can't be fixed ?
If the leak is coming from a source outside of the optical range, yes. In my case, the light leak was coming from a source that was part of the shot.

It’s definitely working. Some lenses may send out f-stop data differently. Do you see a change in the field of view when your using the converter?
Is the Viltrox EF-R3 PRO version compatible with a R5, R6 or R7?

@@ajwilliamsmedia Thank you bro.
