Thank you soooooo much!! I should have read the instructions about the back focus ring! you showing this saved me!
Really helpful, thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Great review. You checked every point.
Wonder if there is a Sony or Panasonic version of this focal reducer so I could put it on the Sony A74 and Panasonic S5 Mark 2 for when in 60fps 4K
What's the glass size in comparison to the Canon one? I heard you say it's larger than the Viltrox. Thanks in advance.
Thank you I was wondering what that metal ring was but keep it up!🫐
I wish it was still in stock! 😢
Hi, great video. I have the meike speed booster which supports my canon R7's Ibis with canon ef lenses with a focal length of 35mm and above; any wider than that and I get camera shake. I'm curious to know how this speed booster performs with wide zoom lenses when shooting handheld? I'm yet to purchase a gimbal...
Hey buddy. Just want to ask if you have problems with the locking mount? The regular version of this adapter has "a little bit of play" issue between the mounts, I wonder if the locking mount solves that problem?
Thanks in advance.
No the one I’ve got is really solid. As I mention in the video it’s harder to switch lens with a locking mount but it’s more secure.
@@JonathanPalfrey Thank you so much for the reply! been thinking to get this adapter, your video helped me a lot! Keep em coming!
if you have then you have a slight problem mine is perfectly snug at least with my 6 sigma lenses
Hi Jonathan, are you interested in reviewing 7Artisans EF-R autofocus adapter?
Hi, yes I would be interested in checking that out Can you send me an email to palfrey.yt@gmail.com
This is going to be a silly question, but on APSC lenses on like the EOS-R, R5, etc., if you are in crop mode for those lenses, will the focal reducer widen those images? I've actually owned this adapter since before its official launch, but I don't have any APSC lenses. I was considering picking up a set of Crop Sensor Cine Lenses and was wondering if I could Jimmy-Rig it in that way.... hmmm.
Sadly not, it actually does the opposite. You'd need some sort of focal expander to be able to do this, sadly that doesn't exist for still lenses.
With the positive locking ring set-up, how tight is the locking ring? Is there a "notch" or something that prevents the ring from accidentally unlocking when bumped or brushed?
It’s very tight, especially with a sigma lens on. You need two hands to take lenses on and off, there’s no way you could accidentally unlock it from bumping or brushing against it.
@@JonathanPalfrey Thanks! Thinking of picking this up for the upcoming R7.
@@ken830 how do you like this with your R7?
@@shaunlaf I ended up getting the regular EF-R3. It seems to work okay. But one thing I noticed is that I sometimes get an error when turning on the camera after being off for awhile (say overnight) that requires me to just turn the camera off and on again. I think it's related to the adapter. I don't notice it happening when I have a regular Canon adapter on.
@@ken830 May i add, i had a similar issue with my viltrox adapter for my m50 but most of the time it was the bolts coming loose on the actual adapter, now I constantly push down on the metal piece and that sits between the lens and the adapter to make sure it’s not loose and problem solved for me.
i had to return mine unfortunately. im sure it was defective. turning the ring it was way too tight and the red dot could not reach the right position. the connector could not touch and the focus was't working cecause of that. i coild not get another one because was out of stock. disappointed because what i cpuld see in the image was great. Not been able to tight it correctly i had to return it. now i found a new speedbuster made by meike supposed to do the same thing for less money also.
thanks for the review.
Does this one give you a wide lens the the reg for the r10/r7
yep
Hi, looking at this coz the Canon one isn’t available in the Philippines. How is it long term compared to Canon’s?
It’s been just as good. The positive lock can be a bit annoying if you are on your own though without a tripod.
Personally I’ve just been using a normal EF to R adapter a lot as I prefer the sigma 18-35
hi thx, does the Viltrox EF-R3 Pro 0.71x click if the lens is mounted on the adapter. mine doesnt click like written at the manual?
thx
not really, you just tighten.
There’s no click just twist to tighten
This unit has utterly disappeared from the market.
Does this still work on the c70 with the new camera firmware update? Looking to buy this from china seeing it isnt available here in the US
Thanks :)
Can you explain how to fixed for the infinity focus issued...im using EF 17-40
You screw the lens element in the adapter to fix the infinity focus. It takes a bit of trial and error.
Hi, some reviewers seem to pretend that there is some "conflict" between this item and the IBIS system. Could you confirm
I've not notice anything. The C70 IS is digital so it shouldn't really make a difference. Like the Canon focal reducer it changes the focal length on the screen.
@@JonathanPalfrey Thanks. I am waiting for my R7 and I want to put this speedbooster on it.
@@roy4359 ah ok, yeah not sure how it would effect the IBIS in the R7.
I guess it could get confused in that situation
What is The link ?
this is not for ef mount??
Its EF to RF so you can use your old EF lenses on a cropped sensor RF mount camera such as the C70, R7 or Red Komodo
canon if you can afford it daresay there will be a profile in dxo eventually
Do you get the magenta spot that the canon gives?
I’ve personally not noticed it when using it. If it is there it seems better controlled than the canon.
@@JonathanPalfrey Awesome Thanks
does it work with ef-s lenses?
With most EF-S lenses there's nothing to reduce. The image circle is already sized for an APS-C sized sensor.
no longer available 😔 all the other ones suck
I can’t seem to find this exact one online
If you click through on the link in the description it will take it to you on their website. It's quite new so might not be on sale at resellers yet.
It’s interesting because the one their website is not like the one you have. The locking mechanism has ridges everywhere and the one you have only has 4, which I prefer for more torque
@@Jared10112 oh yeah that is interesting. I will ask them about that. It seems like all the marketing images of this have the extra ridges, if I were to guess the version I have is probably the actual final design as it's more recent however I will try and get confirmation.
Thank you! I appreciate that!
If you ever want to offload yours, I’d be down to buy it from you 😆
@@Jared10112 Hi Anthony, I heard back from Viltrox. They confirmed that the version I have here is the final design and they will be updating their promotional images soon.
Strangely, after only a year, this adapter has just vanished, you cannot buy it even used on ebay :)
Canon blocked them sadly. I don't think they ever managed to sell many hence why they are hard to find.
I have one I need to sell.. do you know if it’s not allowed as a third party?
