Might be the cleanest pitch I've ever seen in the tank. Man was articulate, composed, well-mannered and consistent throughout the pitch.
There was a similar pitch style, where a guy was pitching a cheese snack business.

I love this man's compassion for people, his integrity of his brand, and his unabashed love. Fantastic deal.
But he lied. Check nutritional facts of coconut. First of all it's pasturized. Secondly, a whole coconut in every bottle? Thirdly, why does it taste so good. In Barbara's words, "so damn good."

He told them it was pasteurized, he claimed it was a "young thai coconut" which usually means unripened so he definitely could've gone into more detail about that but still not a lie, and taste is extremely subjective so Barbara claiming it's good is her statement not his
If I could find out why the deal didn't go thru the answer is probably there. Don't know specifics of young thai coconuts but regular coconuts are 1400 calories. I'll probably try it if I see it in the store but after that I'm out.
This man is clearly smart, and clearly knows business, so there is no doubt he thought it out before choosing the two!
He def. needs more than 250K for his series A, he gave up big time only to be diluted to
@@quentin2578 This might easily push that series A down the road a few years, get a much higher valuation come series A and avoid that problem. That's the big advantage taking on 2x the cash and getting that instant marketing value of these two.
If he was smart he wouldn't have gone with those Sharks.

For anyone who may be wondering, the deal that Genius Juice made with Barbara Corcoran and Mark Cuban on Shark Tank fell through. Apparently Bayer (the entrepreneur) ultimately decided not to take the deal after the episode aired.
Genius Juice raises $6 million annually and is projected to surpass $12 million this year. They are in 2,000 stores across the US including Walmart, Albertson’s, Whole Foods & Publix.

100 calorie juice isn’t a meal replacement. It’s just a low calorie juice. But looking at the nutrition label, it’s overall a pretty solid drink
def not a meal replacement but might make you feel full for an hour depending on how big you are… i laughed at kevin’s comment
$40 for 6 drinks.. im not sure who will buy these let alone buy them a 2nd time. just googled the drink and found the website

Honestly I love Barbara, she gets a lot of crap for alwaya being out but that just makes it more special when she makes a deal, because you know the investment means something to her. On the other hand Kevin always makes an offer but you can tell he doesn't actually care about any of them.
Kevin makes safe offers with little to no risk royalties debt and so on he can afford to invest 250k when hes almost guaranteed to make his money back and then some.
This just isn't true. Kevin does care a lot and he will even call out other sharks when they're being too greedy or making unfair offers.

That man got a really good deal only because of the taste and his demeanor. He was calm, composed and knew what he was doing or saying.

Great, healthy, natural and organic product, instead of the cheap crap you see everywhere. This is a premium beverage. Coconut has such a wide variety of benefits, from food & beverage, to cleaning, to skin care. This guy is not making cheap coconut water, he is making a coconut beverage smoothie with substance, that is why it tastes so good. Gosh I wanna try this stuff, now I need to research where to buy it. Yum. I admire the gigantic amount of work and money that goes into creating a product/business and running it. Just wow.

Didn’t know they were on shark tank… tasty stuff, but a tad expensive… same stuff in Thailand is less than a buck…but of course, you’d have to be in Thailand ;) It is delicious stuff 🥥
Shipping costs. The source is in their back yard. This has to come half way around the world to be sold. A lot of people need to be paid in between.

That’s unlikely. Smoothies in Thailand will use ice and this doesn’t. You can get coconut in Thailand but not this.

@@vble2337 it's not just coconut water. It's all the coconut fruit except the shell. That naturally raises the price, but it also means it is a better food option for meal replacement and such since it is basically a smoothie.

I totally get it. Most everyone that goes on this show I wouldn't put money in. But this guy was a real one, in my estimation. After he told his story of losing his shelf space when he separated with a bad partner business and clawing his way back I saw a guy that knows how to stand his ground and accept the hits he's going to take for making that choice.
If you look online the guy ended up not taking the deal after the show and then he saw that he was getting more sales because of the exposure from this episode so he told Cuban and Barbara that he’s good and didnt take the deal
That song and commercial would've done really well on QVC I'm sure, I'm surprised Lori didn't mention that!
I think Lori would do well with QYC with this product, but the market for this is worth billions, and I think that Lori knows she wouldn’t make big enough of a dent in the market, also considering how successful each company is with all of her deals.

Sometimes Mark can get a bit arrogant (not all the time, just at some times) but he always has some words of wisdom to give to EVERY pitcher, even if he goes out. And he WAS out for this pitch but suddenly jumped right back in. He’s a good guy.

After such a successful pitch and a verbal acceptance of the deal with Corcoran and Cuban, soon after the episode, the deal fell through. According to an interview with Forbes, in the end, Bayer didn't feel the terms were the right fit for the company: "We decided to fundraise to leverage our exposure from the Shark Tank episode in which the brand gained significant attention."

It's now out of stock on Amazon with no known return date and the reviews are similar to the problems expressed on the show: shelf stability and cost, while raving about its excellent taste. The website looks like it's wandering around in cyber. No shark in sight. What happened?
