Just cut up a tree with a 40" trunk. This saw is a monster, never backed up once. I've had this for about 10 years now and weather you use it everyday or once every 6 months it will start every time.
You mentioned opening it up referring to the Muffler....Ive seen this done in other videos.....but will this screw up the engine?? As it is "tuned" or made to run a certain way....???
These saws do ok for light work such as branch clean up and small firewood. If you need to cut bigger and more, I recommend to go pro. These are good "entry" level saws.
The MS311 is a bit heavier, 13.67 lbs. vs 13.00 lbs. Also has a bit more power, 4.2 HP, vs 4.0 HP. Big difference I believe is that they moved to a scavenging engine on the newer models to meet emissions regulations. The new engines push out exhaust gas with fresh air instead of the old style which used an air/fuel mix. Inevitably a bit bit of fuel was wasted this way and caused the engine to run less efficiently.
hey human I just started my own tree business in Florida and my money is tight my biggest saw is a ms310 but it's not big enough a lot of the time and I don't have 1000$ to buy a 461 can I put bigger jets in the carb and port it so I can run at least a 28 in bar or what would u recommend to get more out of my saw
I've no clue, never messed with carb jets before, don't know enough to say good or bad idea. Can always just put a skip tooth chain on a longer bar though, cuts slower, but allows you to cut bigger stuff.
Joshua Holroyd you can search on UA-cam for muffler modifications and other things..the carb can be tuned on the high side for higher RPM's, the timing can be changed, shoot, all kinds of stuff :-) If you are needing A larger saw, look at A Husqvarna 460 or 465, if just for sawing large stuff down. 60 and 65cc engines and yes, look at them on here, because they have A lot of power.. The 460 can handle A 24" bar easily. I have one man and it has been A great saw and rates well on Amazon reviews and on UA-cam. I haven't had any problems as of yet after 1 year this month of owning it. I have it on my channel if you wanna see it up close. Plenty of them on here. Good luck with your new business and STAY SAFE!!
I just bought a 310 from a guy for a hell of a bargain, this saw is of all the worst to dissasemble, and the previous owner did not try to clean it whatsoever...
The 311 are junk ran it 6 months and died. From New to trash in 6 months ran hard but easy still died on me.big logs guss I'll look into a 461 better 660 magnum over and out
The 311 is a great saw. After years of diagnosing failures and causes of failure I can say that, if the piston was damaged it always comes down to one of a few causes. First and the most common is overheating. A dull chain causes the user to push harder on the saw making it work harder and it doesn’t take long to overheat. The other common cause of failure is incorrect fuel/oil, ratios or quality. Another cause is using the wrong tool for the job. Pro fallers would never use a farm/ranch saw for harvesting and bucking. Farm and ranch saws were never intended for that work load.

Just picked one up at a pawn shop. 25" bar... stoked. (And that's a good song)
I’m curious you never said what size bar blade you had on the saw and what type chain you put on it? Thanks
thanks for the vid fellow human
Salival references always get you subscriptions!
Have same one Love mine I know it’s not a Pro saw but mine beast does everything asked of it

You retune your engine when you open up the muffler or do a muffler mod.

I've got the MS311, and i'm trying to get a replacement clutch cover. Do you know if the 310 and the 311 have the same clutch cover?
Hello turkey stihl ms 310 kılavuzu cm kaç kullandı ??

Nice, thanks for review. Whats the difference between the old 310 and the new 311? Have they really made much improvements?

+Human thanks for the clarification and taking time to respond.

I’ll keep my husky 272 not a big fan of this particular saw I would like a Stihl 466 tho or a 380

I thought it was a cake to pull the carb off of..best one I seen yet
@@jacoblang2906 to pull the carb yes, but the rest of it no way in hel
We have holes drilled in our exhaust 😂it’s pretty loud
rather than getting this I'd buy a 440 & be done
With you on that
461 also
I bought a ms441c to go alongside my ms310, surprisingly they weigh about the same. Nowadays I'd opt for an ms400 or ms462
Отличная пила.
liked your video but tired of it coming to my screen every time I go to youtube...if its an error of my equipment I apologize, if not please stop!

Weak heavy saw.
Lame, empty-headed comment. Derp derp!😅
