Uncorking High West Bourye Whiskey

- Today we're Uncorking Bourye Whiskey from High West Distillery. Bourye is a combination of two Straight Bourbon mashbills (75% corn, 21% rye, 4% malted barley for one and 60% corn, 36% rye, 4% malted barley for the other) and a Straight Rye Whiskey mashbill (95% rye, 5% malted barley), all sourced from MGP Distillery. The youngest whiskey in this blend is 10 years old and it's bottled at 92 proof.

My local ABC had this sitting on the shelf for a few weeks at $69.99 last Fall. Glad I bought two bottles. It's delicious.
Edit on your batch number: High West is ##-Letter-##. First two numbers is year (18 = 2018), letter A through L corresponding to dump month (A = Jan, B = Feb, etc.), and last two numbers are day of the month dumped. So your bottle is 18J25 - meaning the batch was from October 25th 2018. This batch is: 14yr and 13yr MGP Straight Rye (95% Rye & 5% Malted Rye) + 12yr, 11yr, and 11yr Straight Bourbon (75/21/4%, 75/21/4%, 60/36/4% - Corn/Rye/Barley). Love the video as always!

Love seeing the High West reviews. They have been one of my favorite rye producers since they started. Try some of their finished Double Rye store picks! Also they are a must visit if you go to the SLC area, beautiful distillery in the mountains.

I picked up 3 for MSRP after looking for it for a while. Especially after they announced that this is going to be a distillery only release going forward. Love everything that High West comes out with, btw glad to have found your channel.

Congrats on 70k. Never had any High West. Where would you recommend I dip a toe in before I commit to an $80-$90 bottle?
They sell a lot of their expressions in 200 or 375ml, I see them a lot at Total Wine if you have one near you. Great way to dip a toe. American Prairie is a low cost option to start with, but its low proof is a bit of a let down.
Go for the “Double Rye!” It’s my favorite daily.
We’ve not jumped into the High west products yet either!

The double rye is good and a cheaper option. I like the rendevous rye also, along with campire which is more smokey. The American Prairie was a huge dissapointment for me and my wife.
Sara and Chad another great video. Do you guys know anything about all the products that High West is supposed to stop shipping out to stores and only have available at the distillery for purchase. I know they killed my favorite off Yippie Ki-Yay this past Summer, but I hear that there is more to come.
We haven’t really heard yet, hoping they keep things like this one around!

Speaking of blending whiskey, not to get off the brand at hand and would go with a steak. Mix Turkey 101 and Woodford reserve. Half and half.Real easy to drink
