- MC Serch - 3rd Bass Medley (Live Session) | Vevo ctrl
Far Rock in the house! For our Hip-Hop At 50 celebrations this year, we’ve invited rhymers of all eras and geographies to step up to the ctrl microphone. MC Serch - real name Michael Berrin - is a cipher of the NYC hip-hop scene’s evolution from the formative ‘80s into the ubiquitous cultural power it became in the ‘90s. Dude was kicking it with Nas back when he was Nasty Nas, and cutting tracks at Chung King before the studio was a cultural landmark. Originally born in Queens, Serch made his name as a member of 3rd Bass. The white rap duo made it a mission to honor the Black genre that they loved, in part by seeking production from influential Big Apple producer Prince Paul who helmed their Def Jam release ‘The Cactus Album.’ Real heads will love riding with Serch down memory lane with his six-minute medley of 3rd Bass cuts, including the infamous 1991 diss track “Pop Goes The Weasel,” which partied at the upper end of the charts partly thanks to Serch’s acerbic bars aimed at Vanilla Ice (in order, he busted out “Back To The Grill,” “Pop Goes The Weasel,” “Product Of The Environment,” “Brooklyn Queens,”and “Gas Face” to close). It was clear from the jump that the OG hauled a big bag ‘o bars from his Brooklyn beach town to our studio. He also brought his pal Bobby J From Rockaway for a run through their latest collab “Round Here.” Fun day for everyone involved.

@@_Barabas I was fortunate enough to see the rise and golden age of Rap/Hip-Hop. Still better than most of what's out there now. The beats and messages are leaps and bounds ahead.
So are they.

MC Search still got it
Nice shout out to Doom, pure class Serch! Love ya!
Holy Cow - I lost sight during the '90s.
It just sends shivers down my spine to suddenly hear your voice and style again in 2024. I was 14 at the time and haven't forgotten the songs in 33 years. The developments at that time were so burned into the brain.
I feel sorry for everyone who didn't experience this time and thank you and everyone who keeps them alive.
Peace
Legendary, this is what hip hop is all about
WOW...Timeless...Mc Serch - Legend!!!
Those were the days when hip hop made a lot of sense my era!
Broooo you still got it man 👍🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 blessings brother
3rd Bass was on my playlist in the 90's and still, thanks to MC Search and Pete Nice for believing in Zev Love X and Subroc, RIP MF DOOM and SUB. "Til I'm back where my brother went, that's what my tomb will say"
I remember when Search stopped off at World Record on High Street on the Ohio State campus promoting his solo album Return of the Product
Pay attention This is Hip Hop!
This is sick. So great to see Serch back in the game! ❤
Dudes forget that a White/Jewish guy was instrumental in the careers of Nas and MF DOOM.
Dr. Umar gets the Gas Face!! One love MC Serch!! 💯🔥

Cedarhurst, New York has always embraced the hip hop culture from day one. Cedarhurst is clearly near and dear to Serch's heart.

MC Serch, is and always will be the man. Thank you for all the good music.
Reminds me of them days of stomping through Brooklyn. Maestro, you gots to bring 3rd Bass back to he front. The world needs it.
Just thanks for everything youve done Serch.
So underrated...such a great lyricist and voice.. ad memorable as tupac and ice t
NO WORDZ OF WISDOM?!?!?!?!
I KNOIW, RIGHT!?
Bottom Line I Wish Somebody Would Get Him & Pete To Settle Their Differences Because This Is Hip Hop & 3rd Bass Is True Hip Hop For The 50th Anniversary.
This needs to be pinned. It's sad, I don't think it will ever happen but they were great together. Pete was on a mix tape a few years back, can still rhyme. And Serch here, still got it.
@@bjd3707any link to that recent Pete Nice rhyme?
@@wizcoolc1 Sorry poking around I think it was from around 2014, something like a Kurios Jorge mixtape. Do you know the one I'm talking about? I want to find it now, a ten minute search and nothing. It's around somewhere.
@@bjd3707no I'm not familiar with that mixed tape. Would be interested in hearing something from Pete Nice outside of their 3rd bass time and his solo album.
@@wizcoolc1 challenge accepted. It might take a day or two but I will find it for you.
Serch still got it!!!
Brillant!!
That was Brilliant! Still powerful. I smiled the whole way through. Cheer's!

That was some DOPE shit right there. If your not invited to the party you make your own! Serch is still one of my all-time fav Emcees. 🔥🔥🔥
Kind of surprised on the view numbers. Then again, his most recent track he did with Bobby J blew the fuck up, and totally surprised me. Good stuff.
One of the originals !!!!!!! PoP PoP

Imagine this dude chillin at the family events and his grand newphews asking did he used to rap , and he’s like nephew hold my beer, stands up and just goes nuts lmao 🤣
Yo! Back in '93, I came home to my apartment in Madison, NJ that I shared with a couple of other musicians and @MCSerch was the only person there, sitting on my couch watching an afternoon Bulls vs Knicks game. We chilled and talked basketball for the next 3 hours. Then we headed to our friend Njoli's gig at 90th and 1st in NYC at this place called Ruby's. Serch sat in for a few songs and was cool AF. Much love from the way back machine!!!
cool!
This session is a hidden gem
Nothing to say.....Search said it all
