This takes me back to the 7th or 8th grade in Toronto. Those were the days when you waited all week to watch and record (on VCR) *Rap City* on MuchMusic. 3rd bass was one of my fav groups. You dont get that playfulness anymore that we use to from the likes of 3rd Bass, Slick Rick, Kid N Play etc. So nostalgic.
Man, talk about a blast from the past---I loved that "Gas Face" song, especially because of that piano riff, which is actually from an Aretha Franklin song called "Think"--one of her classics.
3rd Bass had a lot of cool samples used in their music. My favorite is "Spinning Wheel" by Blood Sweat and Tears on the opening track to The Cactus Album, "Sons of 3rd Bass."
3rd Bass was so Respectful to the culture, I seen all the Elements of Hip-Hop here, you got your MC's, Dj, B-Boys and the very subtle touch of Graffiti Art that Serch carried on the back of his Head
then you don't understand what you are actually seeing. remember dame dash talking about vultures? these two rabbi's pimping out the culture and pretending to be "white"
I respect 3rd Bass, as they went beyond to hold up the hip-hop culture. They lived our culture while understanding their position in 90s black hip-hop expression.
"They lived our culture while understanding their position" wow... what was THEIR position? How did they live YOUR culture? THESE GUYS WERE GARBAGE! fake homies living a fake fantasy!
Yeah after Russell Simons gave him money to buy it .. Russell is the reason 3rd Bass got any kind of notoriety !!! All the famous black artists in their videos ? Come on they were all paid off by Russell ! FACTS ...
@Broc Rockwell I don’t think Pete nice was Jewish I could be wrong but still one of the dopest groups to come out the golden era. And producer Sam Sever was no joke
I’m from the UK 🇬🇧 and grew up in the 90s but never heard of this group.. only white rappers I knew where the Beastie Boys.. UA-cam is really a history library.
Shout out to my brother from another mother (R.I.P. mom Cathy) , Robert(R.I.P.Bobby) Sean Hughes pulling my coat tails to this!!! Love my Sis Erica. Nuff said.
Pete graduated from Columbia University. Degreeing in Emcee'ing. LOL So fresh til' this day. They both did it for Hip-Hop and real music. Lyrics told truth. :)
People underestimate the importance of Arsenio Hall. This era defined a generation.
Damn, Pete Nice's voice was perfect for rapping.
Rest in Peace DOOM. warms my heart seeing him so young and having fun here. Thank you for everything Legend

The dancing is FUCKING unreal. What a legendary video, wish I was growing up in the 1990s.
Sadly we lost MF DOOM and recently DON NEWKIRK ("Thanks Serch!" guy). Two great talents. Rest easy!

You gotta show them something from 94/95, this was 90 style was still the 80s
This was 1990
Nah this was corny when it hit the charts, honestly Arsenio was always corny.
Why? To show them what a one hit wonder is?
Great performance. Their first album was definitely their best. Also, DJ Richie Rich showing what a real Old School DJ is about on that vinyl.
