Hammer was probably thinking during this entire phone conversation, "These guys are going to get the scare of their lives about fifteen minutes from now when my brother Louis's guys surround the place." And what do you know? The Rollin' 60 Crips had the place surrounded shortly after Hammer hung up the phone.

Man. I can't believe how those dudes talked to MC. Tough guys over the phone.
'Hey, we from New York', MC 'it don't matter where you from. ' Right on, Burrell.
It's hard for me to hear this. I served in the Navy with MC, just us two, night shift, before he was officially MC. He was a good dude. Deep conversations. He entertained me night after night! He told me about his town Oakland (and he was proud about being from there), about his involvement with the A's (I didn't believe him, and told him so!), That he was recording music (again, lol, didn't believe him!) One night, Burrell takes me out to his car, pops the trunk and I'll be damned, it was full of cassettes and records! With his big handsome smile he says, "I told ya homeboy, I'm gonna rock the world!" Lol. Ah man, that you did, MC!
I had a great time with him.
He was highly intelligent, funny, never arrogant, kind...and every night wanted to show you his 'new' moves.
Much love and respect for my MC. '83/'84 Moffett 👊🏼👊🏾♥️🖤💯

3rd Bass tried do make a valid point. Turn this mutha out could have been interpreted as Hammer turning someone else mom out. However the line was the Cactus turned Hammer's mutha out. So I get the play on words. But because you said Hammer's mutha and not this mutha that's where the confusion sets in.

Perfect example of two "down" white dudes not fully understanding the nuances of a culture they've co-opted as fans. No Black rap artist would go so far and disrespect dude's mother so casually UNLESS they were fully prepared for ALL THE SMOKE. Serch, no matter how he felt connected to Blackness, clearly didn't understand where that line of demarcation was.

The phrase "Turn this Mutha Out" was taken from an old Parliament/Funkadelic song called "Give Up The Funk." The phrase was chanted during the last 2 minutes of the song. Obviously, 3rd Bass must not have ever heard the song because the song originally came out in 1975. This legendary beef by Hammer and 3rd Bass may unfortunately be the result of a generation gap since Hammer is slightly older. 😒 Also George Clinton and crew intended the word "Mutha" to mean the "stage" or "arena" that his group performed in. The line in the song had nothing to do with anyone's mother in the first place. However, I still believe that 3rd Bass made a pot shot at Hammer's mother because many rappers in 1991 were dissing hammer - Redman made a reference to Hammer's Mama as well.

    • @trillytrill1852
      @trillytrill1852 16 днів тому +1

@@MrRudyc85if serch understood he wouldn’t be excusing disrespecting the man’s mother to this day. He’d either stand on it or admit his mistake not attempt to intellectualize why he “isnt actually disrespecting his mother” turn this mother out disrespects a general mother not someone’s specific mother and that nuance is clearly being missed on people. Rappers will diss other rappers in a generalized way as a part of bugging themself up, that’s hip hop and we know if a rapper disses a specific rapper by name, then that’s something totally different and opens the door to response/engagement in a totally different way

This happened on *01/23/90*, the day after Hammer won 2 awards at the American Music awards. The Cactus Album came out 11/10/89 which is why Hammer was still heated about it. It was recent. By 1991 3rd Bass were moving on to doing newer material for their upcoming album “Derelicts of Dialect” to be released in June 1991.

Funny thing is that MC search has blown this out of proportion
According to search in New York he and Hamer where at club and search wanted to do a dance battle and hammer kind of blue him off he said that was the 1st insult but then they did the record and the line was turn hammers mother out and that is what ultimately drew the criticisms from everyone and that's why you heard him try and confront these guys and say well that's crossing line you don't talk about people's families were have you and as far as they were concerned that's not what happened well not according to DJ search
Search has further told the story that because of that they were trying to do a couple of things in Los Angeles and their record label and their management team were unaware but somebody put a hit out on 3rd base and to hear search talk he says Hamer did it and they had a problem where they came to LA they were doing something they had to be rushed to the hotel they had to rent the entire floor get them into the hotel get the security and be on lockdown because there was a significant wrisk somebody was gonna try and take one member if not all 3 of 3rd base out
What Actually happened was whether they knew it or not they insulted one of the members of a gang in Los Angeles and that's where the problem came from it didn't evolve hammer didn't evolve his brother didn't have anything to do with anybody and MC search has pretty much for the last 25 plus years basically blamed MC hammer because he put a hit out on them search has been lying through his teeth about certain things and this is 1 of the stories that he's told which is why 3rd bass is not together to this day
In the end the guy that put the hit out on them they basically said will drop it if you do this and you do that for me and pay some money and they let the whole thing go so his management team negotiated this stand down thing with the guy that put the hit out on 3rd base and they paid him off and it is a well know fact it's not like that was a secret there are people including myself that were familiar with the story because it's been told so much

The whole 3rd verse of Cactus was about banging Hammer's mother. There is no damage controlling that. Nice said it, but Serch wrote it. Nope, didn't fall for the weak explanation then and now.
Yeah, word play of Hammer's song was used in retaliation, but delivery of context is something else. The lyric was received as its delivery intended. The difference is that because they (specifically Serch) was "I'm from NY" clout throwing and thought that would be the end of it. They weren't expecting the response they got. Louis' (Hammer's brother) reaction was "you fckd around, now come out here so you can find out." It's 2024 and Serch hasn't been back to the Bay Area since then. And if he has, it was covert and quick enough to not be detected.

I think the real truth behind it was is that someone had said that 3rd base was talk you buy hammers brother and he reached out there be for clarification the reality was the line in the rhyme it said turn this mother out and they're talking about the rhyme itself
The problem was is the MC search decided to lie and make a Big very complicated story about something that happened to the whole group and then blaming olit on mc hammer thats when it became an issue and he has been called out as lying through his teeth everything he pretty much said it's not what happened and ultimately he's gonna have to live with that

Unfortunately the "gangstalking", or constant attention from people I didn't know needed to make that happen, while well intended, led me to incorrectly believe that the hit was much higher level than it actually was, and I was too paranoid to recognize my friends after all these years!
