This interview just pushes Nas's truth a little farther into the spotlight. He deserves all his flowers and the ones that have been disrespectfully held back, hopefully this starts to open some eyes and tip the boat.
IYKYK. He just needs his respect from those of us who know this culture and love it… Really know it and love it… Separates the real from the fraudulent… I can tell when people talk about the culture if they know and if they don’t. Saves a lot of energy.
Nas will always be the king of NY, if the mekkah of Hip-hop respects you, that's all you need,
Exactly 🎯 and that's why 'Ether' will forever be the most iconic battle hip hop song ever imho because of what you just stated, RESPECTFULLY!!! ✊🏾🗽💯
Word
Gods Son= GREATEST MC ALIVE!!!!!!
Man crossed every T and dotted every I so Nas could become a millionaire in a week. Anyone who knows anything about the record business, especially in the sample Era of hip hop, knows that is worth WAAAAAYYY more than 2%. Mad respect for Serch, he did exactly what Nas asked him to: get my mom out the projects. Good man..
He said after 165k units sold I made sure nas was a millionaire. Mc serch is a goat off that alone
You HAVE to give it to Search, you HAVE TO. He played a huge role in bringing us NAS. As a Young Black male in the 90's these rappers were like our Father figures, looking back. They molded our fashion, style, lingo, state of mind. Without Nas and Mob Deep, I literally would have an entirely differently personality.
Realest shit ever...Mobb Deep and Nas def raised me comíng up young with that black Panasonic on cold winter days outside with my dudes...
Relax
@Gab Gotti yeah ikr...Nas wadnt never a father figure to me. Maybe an uncle or big cousin..but father...huh?
Everybody should stop fronting!! MC Serch's place in hip-hop history is SOLIDIFIED!! Salute to you, Math!!
Yea Serch Dope
Solidified based off of what?
Truth
It’s because he’s white. Hate to say it. And I am saying it because I just got called a racist/ for saying Kevin Gates needs to check his daughter. Black men need to stop being racist towards white men. Like you guy got a secret lingo/ we understand every word. And you try to act like you are so dam cool around white men. Stop it. It’s racism at is best.
Arsenal is screwing everyone's dreams this year
Yo Math plz keep the OG’s coming!!! I really enjoy hearing about HipHop history. So much Idk
I hope Tariq Nasheed sees this. He recently said he didn't think Puffy robbed his artist but brought up Serch in re to Nas' publishing
Every hip hop purist/enthusiasts should salute Nas and Search. Thankfully, Nas didn't need any alleged "Illuminati" ties to stay on top of the game!
Mecca is actually arguing with Serch that Jay didn’t lie. The man is sitting in front of you and telling you, there was no Serchlight Publishing until 2011.
Nah, he’s saying how you supposed to know that Jay is lying when he make a statement about publishing.
Thats a HoV stan for ya lol
Looking forward to the whole interview.
Honestly don't know much about Serch, but his segments have been really interesting thus far...
About 90% of Jay rhymes on Takeover were opinion but viewed as facts cause of how well he executed it. Ether had both facts and Jokes. Imo, 2 of the best diss records ever and easily the best battle ever
Nas won.
Casual vs Safir is the greatest battle in Hiphop History
R ight.Jay was a movement unlike Nas.That is why he was believed it..
@@terrenceliburd8655 Safir! True Story. I'm a prosthetist in the Bay area. And I was referred a patient who said he used to know Pac. Come to find out, it was Safir. He's down bad unfortunately. He had alot or medical issues and supreme paranoia. Appreciate the good times man. Hurt me to see him like that. He jumped off thet plane and he's been dealing with those issues ever sense
And only one verse is really for nas. It’s really a prodigy diss.
No lie son one of the dopest interviews. Fire.
I haven't seen anybody get clapped for like this man. Respect!
this is great! these stories are gold! 3rd Bass was part of my life going to school!
Respect to Math Hoffa for this interview and S/O to MC Search for clearing his name
The interview we didn't know we needed
Big Up Serch I always knew he was a good dude from when he highlighted the truth about how black artists were treated and scammed, salute Legend! 🙏🏾
When he said he didn’t want to be the Jew that fucks Blk rappers over, he gained all my respect. I remember listening to 3rd Base as a kid in Elementary school. Love this platform.. wish some younger ppl could understand what struggle and things ppl went through for them to have the platform they have today.💯
Shout out to Hoffa for always having awesome interviews 👑
Man I can't wait for the whole interview 😂. Serch has so much history and interesting stories
Been a Farrock Legend! And once again another Great Show done by Math Hoffa and crew!!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Netflix need to give Serch a biopic series
Brother Hoffa it would be appreciated if you could just drop this whole interview. Sincerely - Everyone.
Pay to press play ninja
These ivy league schools study Nas's Illmatic the way they do to find ways to keep from having another 9th-10th grade drop out from ever having that mindset ever again.... to be black from our environment with those type of thoughts is frightening to the oppressor.... and by any means necessary they must prevent it from happening again... there not studying that album in the matter we may think
Jay indeed use to rap like the fu schnickens tho!!
😆😆😆😆😆
Right lmaooo, all that tongue flicking and shit
Came in with my style. So i fathered you. I kept changing on the world since bbq
Illmatic deserves all the accolades. And Ozark was dope. But that episode where Ruth is bumping Nas and Killer Mike pops up was so silly.
I don’t think so.
Serch is a legend!!
I'm looking forward to this entire interview bit how they end the clip is hilarious " my favorite white spy"
GOD BLESS MC SERCH (AMEN 🙏😇🤲)
Shit, a few times I remember seeing Serch dance on stage at Latin Quarters...he used to do the "White Boy". The whole crowd would chant "Go white boy!!!"
I grew up in California but because my brother was into poppin going back and forth in New York my rappers were Eric B and Rakim, Cool Moe Dee, Big Daddy Kane, KRS One and 3rd Bass. Mc Search was one of my favorites listen to the guy flow.
Everybody Mc Search 🤞🏽
I remember when 3rd Bass popped up..They was dissing Hammer..one of my homies, like Pete Nice...I always like Serch. I mean if we gonna keep it a buck...Nas is eating off of 2 of Jay songs...Dead Presidents and Rap Game/Crack. Also, I was a dude, that always read liner notes, I remember seeing Schematics Publishings. Jay always said shit "Matter of Factly" , so how can you NOT take it for truth. If you really paid attention, Jay and Nas always through jabs. I think Jay always felt away, when Nas didn't show up for the Dead President video shoot. Jay finally said the name. Around that time, Jay was getting bored with rap (IMO). Nas wasn't dropping much at the time, but was still crowned the best lyricist. 2 things came out of that rap battle, Ether became a term and Stan really became a term as well. All Nas battles, most of them was fans. Classic battle. And Serch is a hip hop legend.
Didn't this dude in the last clip says he remembers faces very well but not names?? 😭 Serch wildin out here
Dude is rug😂😂😂😂
Facts
Yes he did...lol
@@shadymaestro He said it about last minute battles, but I notice that as well.
MCSerch fan from day one.
Was waiting to hear from Serch. Funny with what's going on I knew he'd make an appearance.
I had to look him up he has always been 100...what he is Jewish drops 🎙️.. he the real JEW you need to back you in music industry they don't make MC Serchs anymore.
Haiti inTha House.. should hv more comments.3rdBase...Killasik interview.. only WE know the beginning, born '75.. Salute
You been broke the mold mc search they love you in Long Beach LI
3rd bass was my favorite rap group when I was growing up. Mc Serch was the dude for me back then.
Great interview
Bigga was awefully quiet this episode 😂
I don't think he believes Serch...I don't know if any of them do.
I’m glad cause Bigga embarrassed himself with Tek and Steele. I don’t believe everything Serch says neither. i never saw Serch very genuine when it comes to wanting to rep black people in hip hop tho he’s white. He tries to hard to be liked amongst us blacks. Even in the music with 3rd Bass, i felt Pete Nice was very genuine with hip hop and didn’t try hard to be liked. Plus he wasn’t the loudmouth in the group that was Serch. For the life of me i really wanna know what was really the reason they broken up and Serch said he used the tour bus as an example of why when they was on their last tour i think with Kurious George and maybe KMD and others. It was said that Serch wanted to manage other solo and group acts and Pete was into Baseball shit so it group fade to obscurity. But i don’t believe that was the reason. He said they didn’t wanna make music for 10 years but i believe the break up had to be Serch’s fault. Cause why when he went solo he ain’t had a DJ? Daddy Rich went with Pete Nice and they did “Dust to Dust” which was an incredible album better than Serch’s album! The wildest part is i think they all was still under Def Jam too…
@@91Definite Because something ain't right. If Serchlite Publishing didn't even exist until 2011 where did Jay even get the name from to say it in a song that came out in 2001? Also, Serch admits in the Drink Champs interview that Jay gave him $2,500 for the sample and then he sent it to Zomba Music Group. Why would Jay, seven years after the song was made, even bring money to Serch if Serch didn't own the publishing? He simply would've looked and seen that Zomba records owned the publishing and sent the money to Zomba. None of it makes sense, that's why Mecca keeps pressing him, and that's why Bigga's so quiet...they don't believe him.
@@smallpbigc9403 that's your interpretation guy. This podcast never been scared of confrontation. Last time I checked, everybody Search name dropped is still alive...they can dispute his "facts"
@@smallpbigc9403 Serch incorporated the name in 2011 to play off Jay’s line . Go check the NY Dept of State records it’s all there . Black and white . No conspiracy
Math,,,through all the B s. You still giving us jems.
Serch is the very opposite of Vald and Rappaport , dude has such a genuine personality , he truly loves the culture
Talk Slick Search🖤✊🏾🖤✊🏾🖤✊🏾
Dope interview.
These SERCH clips are DOING NUMBERS!!! Glad to see the O.G. getting his shine but I stand by my statement that he should NOT battle today's battle rappers. Ever. There's no upside. Times are different.
Nas Surviving the Times song 🎶 🔥
Did I say I was only a kitten? Yes. No kidding.
Salute MC Search for not being like his ancestors. To be righteous in this world is an anomaly 💯.
Respect to MC Serch.
Peace can be bought
If a Jewish man is out here saying what happens with Jewish predatory business practices, why are people mad at Kyrie and Kanye? I know why, because they were inflammatory in a real way, but the core of what they were promoting is now being acknowledged by members of the Jewish community
It FINALLY Feels like a Hood Barbershop.. for like 4-6 months it felt like half real half suburban black folks barber shop (the jawn where the barbers white , lol) and EVERYBODY's haircut is leaning like playing ball in Bob Barker Collection Sneakers 😂😂😂🍀
I love Serch, yo. The first time I ever heard five percent ideology was from one of his tracks as a very young dude.
“Decepticons ran Downtown” ? He mean’s Downtown Brooklyn ? Like Jay Street ?
Puffy can’t say that could he..mr love?😂😂😂
Salute to Search!! 💪🏾👑
If you pay attention Jay played Double entendre with words so to speak. He mentioned MC searches name without saying MC search that's why he said I know who I paid call search like publishing
1. NAS
2. JAY
3. EVERYBODY ELSE
Had to listen to Nas - Surviving the Times
anybody notice sean bigga bugging out in the backround lol
He said in this clip "I never forget a name or a face" but in the other clip I just watched from him on here he said he can't remember the name of a single rapper he battled back in the day lol.
Serch been a beacon for all us white heads TRYING to protect the culture black folk laid down for us ALL!!!
LONG LIVE HIP HOP !!!!
🤘🏼
I'm already a search fan, but he said one of the realest things you'll ever hear. He said he was trying to break the mold
A mold that "they" claim doesn't exist. Just think about that if you didn't already catch it.
I never knew Mc Search History thanks for this, he's cool as fuk. GLAD HE CLEARED THE AIR
Pure gold!
Great interview from the clips I seen but I seen his hands shaking at times. I hope that’s nerves and not a more serious health issue.
Search ain't lying, the average Black dude doesn't even have a greenlight to go to those nightclubs he mentioned in the late 80's early 90's
Respect to MC Serch… but he's wrong @3:23 when he said "Illmatic was the only rap record in the library of Congress"… 2Pac's "Dear Mama" is also in there.
He said rap album.
Let’s not forget that MC Serch is actually Jewish. Just like any group of people in the world, there are good people and there’s bad ones. Serch is one of the good ones
The dopest part in this interview is when white boi dropped dem names .. .. will not be “___” “___”___”
Should’ve said “I will not be Rosenberg”
Ty mc serch for being real
Nas will always be my Goat along with 2Pac
Mc Search needs to come to Ghana 🇬🇭.......
Nas the goat
It's really solidified Magic and KD3
@@Mono-kr4ih I had it at KD1... it was too close before that 1st KD dropped
That's IT! That's ALL!
Facts bulletz we need a video addressing this. Jay-Z lied period takeover is falling apart the truth is coming out jay was Never on Nas level
The fact Nas had two all-time classic verses, then the greatest Rap album ever, all while being a teenager is ridiculous.
wait too verses
He wasn't a teenager for all of it. He clearly said I woke up early on my born day I'm 20 yrs the blessing of adolescence
Beyond ridiculous
@@williamgardner7886
Most of Illmatic was written when he was 19. He's said this in multiple interviews. Some verses were written during the making of Illmatic, which released when he was just 20. But alot of it was written from the mind of a teenager.
This was my favorite episode, because Search really showed that he is a true friend to our culture. Not a vulture. He is eloquent, articulate, and constantly shows love. He doesn't tell you how dope he is every five seconds like Fat Joe, ok that was not necessary, excuse my mood, fellas. But yo! NAS is the best of ALL TIME - you can see learned from his big brothers, Rakim, Kool G, and Slick Rick, and turned it into a young man on his journey into manhood. Thank you for this episode, because what it says is that the game is EVIL and sometimes one of the gate keepers has a heart. Search said that last part because HE KNEW the game was going to make him do that to NAS, and if he did, NAS may have been trapped in one of those prisoner contracts that MANY are STILL IN TODAY. Peace BRO! Keep up the dope podcasts!
Serch has ALWAYS been important to The Culture no matter what people say!
They should get Wendy day in there too
Facts
@Rilly Jo Absolutely! Wendy is also a pivotal part of the Culture.
Sound dumb asf 🤣😂
There you dumb bimbo's go,
Making exceptions based on y'all's preference....
This man is a culture vulture in my opinion.
Is he making money of hip hop yes or no.
If he is then he's a culture vulture.
Facts!
Nas is the greatest rapper of all time and Ilmatic is one of the pillars of hip hop, period.
Mr Mecc really believes Jay showed Nas his first tec 😆... these niggas mehnn
These clowns are either dumb or stupid. Nas is a 9th grade dropout from the grimiest project in the USA but a dude from Marcy project showed esco his first tech. Niccas man🤦🏽♂️
Search needs to be respected & celebrated! Great interview so far!!
Agreed, & first step to that is spelling the man's name correctly. SERCH.
Yeah very good interview so far the story’s r 🔥🔥💯👊🏻
He’s white
Respected & Accepted!
Is he wearing skinny/ripped jeans?!😆😆😆😆😆😆
But Jay did rap the Fu Schnickens. All of us old enough to remember the Originators knows this to be true
Can I get open record
Think hard on the age Nas was when he made Illmatic, and think of the excuses today for the trash that’s dominating the game now due to these rappers being “young”. Age is no excuse.
The internet fucked up music plain and simple. It's too easy and has to be churned out too fast for crazy classics to come out. It's microwaved and not slow cooked.
So thankful for this series!
MC Serch is way more interesting & intelligent than I originally envisioned. His style, flow and mannerism(s) make him one of the best in the business as far as I'm concerned (then & now).
Much love Brother!!!
Naw who is homey talking about jay said stuff we believed for years 😅😅😅😅😅😅 please refrain from speaking homey he said nas had 1 hot album lol that took all credibility away from takeover we didn't believe nothing after that came outta his mouth lol ether was full of facts here we go again with the jay z bias coming fam jigga said he lost this is not a debate in 2022
That was a perfect opportunity to ask Serch about Pete Rock's accusations of not getting paid for his work on Illmatic .
hoping they bring it up at some point
Pete rock got paid for the beat. His lawyer just realized that he never got paid royalties. Two different thing. And that’s a dispute with Columbia records, not with Nas or Serch. But it depends on the initial deals. Producers often get upfront money and no royalties. So idk why Pete rock okay’d this. But whatever. He’s talented but always been a guy who’s hard to like
@@dfwherbie8814 I can dig all that . Just thought it would have been something that Serch would've been able to share his experience and perspective with that . Serch is good at explaining how the Illmatic process got handled .
@@dfwherbie8814 Pete is also full of sht, pushing the whole Jamaicans and hip-hop myth just like Busta Rhymes.
@@bowling4clarity817 true. I would like to hear the story too
Keep it a buck. Hov was trash before dead presidents came out and everyone knows this. That’s the first song he got his props on. If y’all old enough y’all know it’s true.
Lol your not lying
That fast rapping shit was trashh
You can tell MC Serch is a true MC with his great storytelling.
If u think the first time Nas saw a tech was from that Nerd, jigga.... yall are crazy... Nas OG's were black just and e money.... man knock it off
Exactly...Mr Mec swears it is the truth though. 😆
It's crazy seeing these interviews because Nas just dropped Serch's name on his new album.
The applause 👏🏾 should go on forever Search is HONORABLE indeed
MC Serch!
Search was like the White Biz Markie who was beloved all over NY. Search from Far Rockaway Queens and Biz Markie from Long Island NY were both all over the Five Boroughs sometime Dolo but they were both humble beloved and the life of the party where ever they stomped at. Both would be in the Latin Quarters hard body.
Thanks for the clarification 💯🙏
Ether was just jokes "
Jay-Z is known for Hawaiian Sophie but always sample or mention Nas name in his music which shows he's a fan/Stan. Krs-one put out an album called blueprint Jay-Z was around Jaz Kane irv and big Eminem murdered him on renegade Jay-Z always made songs disrespecting woman he said himself on song cry girls use to call him ugly people thought beans was better Jay-Z was signed to def jam owned by Russell Simmons so he runs him Jay always saying biggie rhymes but thinks he better than big he was always wanted to do songs with Nas he threw jabs at Jadakiss then apologized for itand just the other day on the internet people were clowning Jay-Z "mustache" it was even truth in jokes
Big facts. But ,they love being lied too by Jz. Lol

After this interview with Serch, Nas really won that battle with Jay now 👏 😳 🙌
Been Won QGTM 💰 “Queens niggas run you niggas ask Russel Simmons”💯💯💯
The general consensus was that Nas won back then..Beside Jay admitted that he lost on BP2
The Media and Jay’s money can be deceiving

We all knew Nas won even then.
The other shit hov tried to take credit for for Nas def Jam signing. LA Ried signed Nas.
