This interview just pushes Nas's truth a little farther into the spotlight. He deserves all his flowers and the ones that have been disrespectfully held back, hopefully this starts to open some eyes and tip the boat.

You HAVE to give it to Search, you HAVE TO. He played a huge role in bringing us NAS. As a Young Black male in the 90's these rappers were like our Father figures, looking back. I remember when 3rd Bass popped up..They was dissing Hammer..one of my homies, like Pete Nice...I always like Serch. I mean if we gonna keep it a buck...Nas is eating off of 2 of Jay songs...Dead Presidents and Rap Game/Crack. Also, I was a dude, that always read liner notes, I remember seeing Schematics Publishings. Jay always said shit "Matter of Factly" , so how can you NOT take it for truth. If you really paid attention, Jay and Nas always through jabs. I think Jay always felt away, when Nas didn't show up for the Dead President video shoot. Jay finally said the name. Around that time, Jay was getting bored with rap (IMO). Nas wasn't dropping much at the time, but was still crowned the best lyricist. 2 things came out of that rap battle, Ether became a term and Stan really became a term as well. All Nas battles, most of them was fans. Classic battle. And Serch is a hip hop legend.

I’m glad cause Bigga embarrassed himself with Tek and Steele. I don’t believe everything Serch says neither. i never saw Serch very genuine when it comes to wanting to rep black people in hip hop tho he’s white. He tries to hard to be liked amongst us blacks. Even in the music with 3rd Bass, i felt Pete Nice was very genuine with hip hop and didn’t try hard to be liked. Plus he wasn’t the loudmouth in the group that was Serch. For the life of me i really wanna know what was really the reason they broken up and Serch said he used the tour bus as an example of why when they was on their last tour i think with Kurious George and maybe KMD and others. It was said that Serch wanted to manage other solo and group acts and Pete was into Baseball shit so it group fade to obscurity. But i don’t believe that was the reason. He said they didn’t wanna make music for 10 years but i believe the break up had to be Serch’s fault. Cause why when he went solo he ain’t had a DJ? Daddy Rich went with Pete Nice and they did “Dust to Dust” which was an incredible album better than Serch’s album! The wildest part is i think they all was still under Def Jam too…

@@91Definite Because something ain't right. If Serchlite Publishing didn't even exist until 2011 where did Jay even get the name from to say it in a song that came out in 2001? Also, Serch admits in the Drink Champs interview that Jay gave him $2,500 for the sample and then he sent it to Zomba Music Group. Why would Jay, seven years after the song was made, even bring money to Serch if Serch didn't own the publishing? He simply would've looked and seen that Zomba records owned the publishing and sent the money to Zomba. None of it makes sense, that's why Mecca keeps pressing him, and that's why Bigga's so quiet...they don't believe him.

This was my favorite episode, because Search really showed that he is a true friend to our culture. Not a vulture. He is eloquent, articulate, and constantly shows love. He doesn't tell you how dope he is every five seconds like Fat Joe, ok that was not necessary, excuse my mood, fellas. But yo! NAS is the best of ALL TIME - you can see learned from his big brothers, Rakim, Kool G, and Slick Rick, and turned it into a young man on his journey into manhood. Thank you for this episode, because what it says is that the game is EVIL and sometimes one of the gate keepers has a heart. Search said that last part because HE KNEW the game was going to make him do that to NAS, and if he did, NAS may have been trapped in one of those prisoner contracts that MANY are STILL IN TODAY. Peace BRO! Keep up the dope podcasts!

Pete rock got paid for the beat. His lawyer just realized that he never got paid royalties. Two different thing. And that’s a dispute with Columbia records, not with Nas or Serch. But it depends on the initial deals. Producers often get upfront money and no royalties. So idk why Pete rock okay’d this. But whatever. He’s talented but always been a guy who’s hard to like
