The writer of the film was interviewed by the FBI because when they were sent a copy of the script to review for security purposes, they realized that the basics of Simon's plan to distract the NYPD and burrow through to the money could actually work. He had to explain to them that every piece of information he'd used to plot it out was from publicly available sources and guided tours. They actually had to implement new security procedures at the Federal Reserve due to the movie so that this couldn't happen in real life.
This is probably my favorite ensemble cast of the entire franchise. Every dynamic from Walter to Joe to Charlie to Connie is so good and they’re all so colorful in their roles. It’s a shame this is the only movie we got with all of them. I could watch a whole series just based around this one department.
My favorite of the series! Sam and Bruce have great combative chemistry and I think the way 3 ties to 1 is really good. Watch the 4th (Live Free or Die Hard) but skip 5.
5 is very different than the rest of the franchise. I love it for what it is, but it's a pretty big shift from what 1-4 are. That's probably why a lot of people dislike 5.
This is low-key the best Die Hard movie. Point of interest, it was not written as a Die Hard film; it was a standalone action thriller called "Simon Says", which was picked up and turned into a sequel in the Die Hard franchise. Even though it turned out to be a misdirect, I think one of the most badass things in any movie is Charlie, the EOD specialist, turning back to keep working when he learns there are still children in the school.
Part of this was filmed where I had previously worked on the construction of submarines for General Dynamics in SC. They brought a subway train from NY to crash inside the final assembly building. The storm sewer was built beside that building. A friend who worked on this said that Bruce Willis was likeable but very professional and focused. I of course asked about Sam Jackson but he didn't interact with him. I had one of the "gold" bars from this until I moved from South Carolina.
@@OpenMawProductions It was lightweight molded, painted plastic. I lost it in my last move. I wouldn't be surprised if there were some heavy ones, also.
OMG TALK ABOUT intense die hard with a vengeance is up there with every action movie ever made I especially love Jeremy irons portrayal of Simon. Omg he gives such an incredible performance of the perfect bad guy Because of his voice #1 movie ever of Jeremy irons and Samuel L Jackson's careers Bruce Willis is ok in this one But I definitely need to give both Jeremy irons and Samuel L Jackson credit for their roles. Absolutely brilliant
Some people don't like 4 but I enjoy it they scale it up in every movie 1st a building, 2nd an airport, 3rd a city, and 4th ................ I'll let you find out.
Fill the 3 gallon jug. Pour the 3 gallons into the 5 gallon jug. Refill the 3 gallon jug. Fill the 5 gallon jug by pouring 2 gallons from the 3 gallon jug. That leaves 1 gallon in the 3 gallon jug. Empty the 5 gallon jug. Pour the 1 gallon remaining in the 3 gallon jug into the now empty 5 gallon jug. Fill the 3 gallon jug. Pour it all into the 5 gallon jug. You now have exactly 4 gallons in the 5 gallon jug.
The Canadian actor playing Joe, Graham Greene, played the Sioux Medicine Man in “Dances With Wolves”. He also played a Native American chief in Mel Gibson’s film “Maverick” and the Jackie Chan film “Shanghai Noon”.
Solving the 4 gallon riddle: Step 1) Fill the 5 gal jug all the way up. Step 2) Pour from the 5 gal jug into the 3 gal jug until it is full, leaving exactly 2 gal of water in the 5 gal jug. Step 3) Empty the 3 gal jug and pour the 2 gal of water from the 5 gal jug into the 3 gal jug, leaving exactly 1 gal of empty space in the 3 gal jug. Step 4) Fill the 5 gal jug all the way up again, then pour from the 5 gal jug into the 3 gal jug until it fills the 1 gal of empty space. 5 gallons of water minus 1 gallon of water equals exactly 4 gallons.
You could also fill the 3 gal up pour it in the other, fill up again and pour it in. You'll have 1 gal. Empty the other jug and pour your one gal in. Fill the 3 gal and pour in with your other and you'll have 4
The next one is set during the Fourth of July. I really liked it. Another generation of Bruce Willis films that you might enjoy are the RED and RED2 films. Lots of action and great casts. Thanks for reacting to this one.
You'll love the Lethal Weapon film series... They have the same vibe, with characters created by the same writer. Funny/serious action movies. Quite fun.
In case you ever need to solve the 4 gallon puzzle, here’s the sequence… Fill the 3 gallon jug all the way, empty it into the 5 gallon jug. Refill the 3 gallon jug and use it to fill the 5 gallon jug the rest of the way, leaving you with 1 gallon in the 3 gallon jug. Empty the 5 gallon jug and pour the 1 gallon left in the smaller jug into the now empty 5 gallon jug. Refill the 3 gallon jug and add it to the 5 gallon jug, giving you exactly 4 gallons. Who knows, might save your life in a park fountain.
This is a great action movie, New York movie, and sequel. It’s so fun. My dad took me to see it on a Friday afternoon when I was in 6th grade. That was a good weekend.
Die Hard 4.0 is also very good, and more set in these modern times, and everything that has to do with technology, networks, computers, etc., hence the 4.0 in the title.
so glad that you enjoyed the movie :) the die hard series are one of my favourite movie series. lots of ridiculous situations, humour, and great suspense
5:06 “Why do you keep calling me Jésus, do I look Puerto Rican to you?” I don’t know why, but that line always gets me 😂 23:18 😂 that’s some dark humour Addie. Now that you’ve seen, and enjoyed, the first 3 Die Hard movies, I highly recommend 12 Rounds.
The water puzzle always seemed to confuse people: 1) Fill the 3 gal jug, pour into the 5. 2) Fill the 3 gal jug again, top off the 5. This will subtract 2 gals from the 3 gal jug, leaving 1 gal. 3) Empty the 5 gal jug. 4) Pour the 1 remaining gal from the 3 gal jug into the now empty 5 gal jug. 5) Refill the 3 gal jug one more time. Adding that to the 1 gal now gives exactly 4 gallons in the 5 gal jug. - or - 1) Fill the 5 gal jug, pour into the 3. 2) Empty the 3 gal jug. 3) Pour the remaining 2 gallons into the 3 gal jug. 4) Refill the 5 gal jug again. 5) Top off the 3 gal jug again. Because it already has 2 gallons, it will only take 1 more gallon. Leaving 4 gallons in the 5 gal jug.
For those who are still trying to figure out the 4 gallons of water in the 5 gallon jug riddle & how McLane & Zeus ended up with 2 gallons in the 3 gallon jug & 5 gallons in the 5 gallon jug, here's the solution: You first fill the 5 gallon jug. You then pour 3 gallons of water into the 3 gallon jug, leaving 2 gallons of water in the 5 gallon jug. You then empty the 3 gallon jug & pour the remaining 2 gallons from the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug (you now have 2 gallons of water in the 3 gallon jug). You then refill the 5 gallon jug & then pour 1 gallon of water from the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug, ending up with 3 gallons of water in the 3 gallon jug & 4 gallons in the 5 gallon jug.
Fun fact about this movie. The writer of the script was interrogated by the FBI because the plan for the robbery would have actually worked. The banks and the government were actually kind of mad that they had to now plan for this type of attack.
This is easily my favorite Die Hard flick. Honestly, you could put SLJ in any movie & it'll just be better for it. *If you haven't seen "The Long Kiss Goodnight" with Samuel L. Jackson & Gina Davis... definitely worth a watch & it's another great example of proof."*
Okay. Allow me to try and produce the simplest solution to the jug problem. Step one: fill the three gallon jug all the way to the top, and pour it into the five gallon jug. Step two: fill the three gallon jug all the way to the top again and pour two gallons into the five gallon jug. And step three: pour one gallon out of the five gallon jug into the three gallon jug, leaving you with four gallons in a five gallon jug. Bingo.
Great reaction! I go back and forth on whether I like this one or the original better. The next one is really good but make sure you watch the UNRATED version, if only to get the full unedited Yippie Kyaye!

Addie, at 19 min you can see John gets in a big red vehicle with a jolly fat man with a white beard and mustache who is kindly and also John meets a kid who tells him, the cops are into something, IT'S CHRISTMAS , You could steal city hall, so it is a christmas movie, but it is also what inspired George HW Bush and Dick Cheyney to commit 911
Samuel Jackson was asked by Jimmy Fallon for his top 5 characters he has played. Number 1 Mitch Hennesey in The Long Kiss Goodnight, with Geena Davis. Number 5 is Nick Fury. Highly recommend TLKG.
Throughout the Die Hard series, John's right shoulder always take a pounding. 1. Gets shot 2. Get stabbed 3. Get a piece of wiring stuck in it. 4. Get shot again, twice.

Speaking of John McTiernan, who directed Die Hard (1988) & Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995), I suggest Predator (1987, WARNING!: There are two brief SNAKE shots in this one, but don't worry, it doesn't serve the main plot), The Hunt for Red October (1990, the first of the Jack Ryan film series), Medicine Man (1992), Last Action Hero (1993), The Thomas Crown Affair (1999), The 13th Warrior (1999), and Basic (2003).

I love this movie because the bridge scene (and apparently a few more scenes according to the comments I read) was filmed in Charleston, SC, long before they tore the bridges down and put up the new Arthur Ravenel Bridge, so this is now the only place I can see the two Cooper River Bridges anymore.
This film has a lot more serious alternate ending (it should be up on youtube). Basically Simon took all of the gold and betrayed his own team too. John (who has lost his job) finds him in a bar, and they play one last game, this time with a rocket launcher.
Now granted my lady and I were a bit drunk when we watched this and neither of us are good at math skills but we did figure out the water jug puzzle pretty quick...we were so proud of ourselves lol.....great react as always

I really don't get why most people don't react or appreciate this third part of the franchise. I mean Bruce, Samuel and Jeremy are enough to pick one's attention. And because Simon says so 😎.

Solving the 4 gallon riddle:
Step 1) Fill the 5 gal jug all the way up.

I love this movie because the bridge scene (and apparently a few more scenes according to the comments I read) was filmed in Charleston, SC, long before they tore the bridges down and put up the new Arthur Ravenel Bridge, so this is now the only place I can see the two Cooper River Bridges anymore.
"Two and a half men" absolutely hilarious. !!!!
23:00 nice one Addie. 29:00 dang Addie, you got some dark humor 😂
Live Free or Die hard is only other one worth reacting to. Its just as good as the rest.
My favourite of the Die Hards
😆😂 22:55
I enjoyed the 4th movie to.. I never touched the 5th one.
Sam Jackson and Bruce Willis are always great together. They were amazing in the movie Unbreakable.
This film has a lot more serious alternate ending (it should be up on youtube). Basically Simon took all of the gold and betrayed his own team too. John (who has lost his job) finds him in a bar, and they play one last game, this time with a rocket launcher.
The only thing I wish they would've done with this one was figure out how to get Al Powell in it.
My favorite Die Hard movie.
I had forgotten this until seeing it, but a gun dealer friend provided the pearl grips for the Walther PPK/pistol used near the end of the film.
You’re watching this one too? Cool.
Oh... I thought we were watching Die Hard 1 again, but this time, with a vengeance.
Now granted my lady and I were a bit drunk when we watched this and neither of us are good at math skills but we did figure out the water jug puzzle pretty quick...we were so proud of ourselves lol.....great react as always
The next one is around the 4th of July. ✌️❤️🌹

I don't know if you have seen The Incredibles, but Sam Jackson has a role in it, and reprises his "I need. To use, The phone." scene.
The best one of all 588 DH films (well, it feels like it SHOULD be that many!) LOLZ 🤣
I wonder how someone learned to steal a gold bar in a riot while he’s with a cop.
Thank you Addie for reacting Die Hard with a Vengeance. Next time reacts Live Free or Die Hard.
I think this would be the last of the great Die Hard films.
The 1st one is Goated but this one almost rivals it 💯
Great reaction my favorite one 🔥🔥💯💯🔥
If you liked this one I think you will enjoy the next one. It puts a new age spin on the series and the cast also has very good chemistry. Love the reactions keep up the good work.
I really don't get why most people don't react or appreciate this third part of the franchise. I mean Bruce, Samuel and Jeremy are enough to pick one's attention. And because Simon says so 😎.
And this scene you can call "Two and a half men" ..... slight change.. "Two and two half men"
Been a while since I've seen this. Gonna have to watch it all over again.
Glad you enjoyed seeing SLJ here!
Take care, Addie!
Fun fact. My mother in law was an extra in this 🤣
This film is actually fun.
This one definitely fits well into the franchise.. after this it kinda goes downhill though.
You should watch RED. Bruce Willis · Morgan Freeman · Mary-louise Parker · Helen Mirren · John Malkovich . Great film.
If you like the Die Hard movies, I'm sure you'll enjoy the Lethal Weapon series as well! Check em out!
Don't know if you spotted it but 'The Incredibles' pay homage to this scene at 10:52, both featuring Sam Jackson
My fav Die Hard is Live Free or Die Hard from 2007
