    I found one other design flaw, and it looks like it’s happening to you too. When you screw in the pole adapter all the way the pole tightener doesn’t end up behind the speaker. I had another one sent to me and it does the same thing

    Comment from the Nord Forum: The TT515A’s are a game-changer. I’m genuinely impressed with their sound quality-clear, detailed, and uncompressed. As a pianist, I’ve struggled to find a PA speaker that handles piano transients well, but these do it perfectly. At $2,000 each, they’re an amazing value!

    Just finished up Sound Demo outdoors. Should post in one week. For an A/C only system this might be the Ultimate Micro System!

    Hi Bill. Do you still have the TT10A? How does the TT-515 compared to the TT10???

    • @WWeiss-nv5vz
      @WWeiss-nv5vz  Рік тому +1

      Yes, I still have the TT10. Love it! They now have a MK2 version! I did an A/B test with the 515. I was shocked that they sounded exactly the same! Even the bass on the TT10 wasn't better?? The whole TT line is tuned the same according to RCF sales. Difference is max output. Outside I was able to clip the 515. TT10 has the extra headroom. Probably need 2x 515 to reach the same volume of the TT10.

    Curious to you saying this isn’t a DJ speaker for weddings. A lot of DJ’s out there using them. I might consider getting a pair to try with my Sub2’s.

    • @WWeiss-nv5vz
      @WWeiss-nv5vz  Рік тому +2

      I say that because of the volume limitations. 127db max is about the same as your typical EV50 but with less dispersion. 100 degrees compared to 120 degrees or Bose 180 degrees. I've read many posts about people claiming the EV50's don't have enough headroom. A pair of QSC K10.2's at 130 dB+ would be much less expensive with very similar performance. Bose F1 tops would also outperform the TT515. I really don't believe wedding guests would notice the difference in sound quality. Weight/form factor is another story if you are willing to spend the $$$. They will match up great with the Sub2!

    • @cduemig1
      @cduemig1 Рік тому +1

      @@WWeiss-nv5vz this is exactly my concern. 127db isn’t too bad but the Bose at 129db is also with a much wider dispersion. We’ll see.

      @@cduemig1 Bose Pro 32 has a very different sound. Besides the 180 degree room filling sound, the RCF is lacking in midrange, that is where Bose is so smooth and non fatiguing. Bose lacks high end clarity and the RCF has the Best! TT515 has a very Live sound like your typical point source speaker. I am actually playing them together, each on their own aux out, for the ultimate Hi-fi PA sound! I would buy one and try them together before spending all that money for a pair. I actually tried a second TT515 and I was very underwhelmed. Got almost the same performance with the single?? Of course I am not a DJ so I don't care about the aesthetics of a matching pair.

      @W. Weiss so Bill, I don't quite understand... pairing this RCF with the Sub1... then warm midrange frequencies will not be there? I like the 100 degree Dispersion of the rcf and the idea of using just one for 100 people about 60 x 60 room size ! I don't like how the rcf sub for this top does not have a left and right input ! Bose Sub1 does ! This capability is important in some use c cases

    As a fan of compact systems, this speaker and its sub are exciting like a new Mercedes, so I'd consider it if my gigs go into that stratum, but for now I'm on 15 year old Honda money Hahaha. I agree about the price of the adapter, which seems expensive even at half the price. As for getting the weight on the pole, I always put my speaker on the stand low down and then raise the pole. If I start using stands again with expensive or heavy-ish tops, I'll get a stand with a crank so I don't have to hold the speaker over my head.

    • @WWeiss-nv5vz
      @WWeiss-nv5vz  Рік тому +1

      At this time luckily I don't need a crank to hoist 22Lbs :) Well I beat you, driving a 21 year old car. I guess I saved enough money to afford the Mercedes speaker!

    Looking forward to test the TT515 over the Bose Sub2 that goes up to 129dB!
    Personally I wouldn't buy the matching RCF TT808 a dual 8"sub which is $1,000 more and is slightly less weight. Some are suggesting 3 TT808's!

    Nice video, sir. Any suggestions for me being an acoustic guitarist (high end Martins/Taylors) who sings through a Telefunken m81 (amazing dynamic), along with an electronic drum machine? I play small & big restaurants, hotels, big brew houses. Been using just the QSC K12s for the longest time. Now I want new tops and a great sub. Thank you...!!!

      I assume you are running the K12's with no sub? You have a pair of K12"s? Do you need that kind of volume? Have you heard the Bose Pro32? The Sub1 will be plenty of bass for acoustic guitar and for the drum machine will give much more bass than the K12. What are you looking for with new tops?

  • @Elniniss

    For a few hundred dollars more you could buy a pair of ev everse 8s and a pair of ev 12 inch subs. When I only want music from them I put the everse 8s on poles on top of each sub and run 1 cable from the top to the sub. You can link them wirelessly through Bluetooth and stream music to both of them. No extra cables. By the way I suggest making or buying custom cables so you won’t have that mess.

      It's always about balancing priorities: A loud PA I can get in the boot of my little convertible with the top down saves me a chunk of money and gets me to the gig with a smile on my face.

    Price drop. EV sub now $800. At $100 less than the Sub1, the EV ELX 12-SP subwoofer is more powerful than the Sub1 but 6 pounds heavier.

    • @michaelbeling
      @michaelbeling 8 місяців тому +1

      I’m guessing you’ve tried this top with your EV ELX200-12SP? Did you find any settings on the sub (low pass) that worked best for that speaker? I also see there’s a high pass button on the RCF for 90hz. Very informative videos, thanks!
      Also, how do you find the 12SP compares to the Sub2? Obviously doesn’t go as deep, but I would think with the form factor, and lower weight it is a lot easier to move around?
      I have the EV sub, and am looking at the RCF tops. I really like the ELX sub, although I find it frustrating that it doesn’t have a built-in crossover, just a low pass filter. All the settings and the Bluetooth app are extremely useful though. And the “club mode” gives a really nice, even, loud response between 50 and 90 dB. You can still hear frequencies above and below that, just definitely not as loud.
      When I weighed it on my postal scale, it was 45 pounds. I’m wondering if the specs are off, or maybe my postal scale is… but I’ve definitely run into that with other manufacturers. And I have other speakers coming up exactly on spec in terms of weight. Still, very easy to carry, partially because it is so compact. I like the two handles, although you could also carry it with one.

      Low pass with TT515 blended nicely at 100 or 120 Hz. Everything you said about Sub2 is correct. Goes lower, same output at 129dB but Sub2 seems to be louder? Sub2 harder to manage-size/weight.@@michaelbeling

    • @michaelbeling
      @michaelbeling 8 місяців тому +1

      Ended up getting the TT515A’s… wow! By far the highest definition PA speaker I’ve ever used. As a pianist, honestly the first time I’ve been satisfied with a PA speaker. Piano, particularly with its transients, is notoriously difficult to amplify, and can get really harsh sounding in the upper mids and highs. Incredibly clear, detailed, uncompressed sound.
      Matches well with EV 12SP sub. RCF set to 90Hz high pass and subwoofer set to live mode and ELX200-10P mode (experimenting with different modes though).

    • @michaelbeling
      @michaelbeling 8 місяців тому

      @@WWeiss-nv5vz your videos (I found at least a couple featuring it) did help a lot, as well as some I found from other people. It’s amazing that the sound quality actually comes through decently on UA-cam. Although in person, it’s a totally different level of experience.
      I got a pair, to have good coverage, better SPL’s, and also because piano sounds way better in stereo.
      I don’t need a ton of stuff, so I’m selling my FBT Vertus CS1000 and Turbosound iP300 and keeping my RCF HD-10A mk5 as a simple plug-it-in, rehearsal speaker. Obviously keeping the subwoofer to use with it.
      PS I got them for $1,620 each, and the adapters for a little over $100 each. The RCF bags are good quality, better than most manufacturers bags, but you have to put the speakers face down and then put bags over them with the backs unzipped to get them on easily. I think they were $108 each.
      Also, as is the case with any speaker, I don’t think there are perfect for every situation. I don’t think you’re going to get crazy SPL’s or throw from them. But they’re almost like PA studio monitors, like you said. For what I do (jazz piano and keyboards, 200 people or less) they’re really perfect.

    Have you tried that speaker using the crossover in the sub in the setting for the s1pro?

    • @WWeiss-nv5vz
      @WWeiss-nv5vz  Рік тому +1

      Yes, I tried using the x-over with the S1 Pro. Slight 3dB gain. I figure if I need louder, than this is the wrong speaker. Plus I prefer running my sub from an aux out of the mixer so I can control the sub gain independently from the mains.
      Meant to ask, How does the Soundboks Go compare with the S1Pro, sound wise and volume?

    • @shaneberckman
      @shaneberckman Рік тому

      @@WWeiss-nv5vz I feel like the Soundboks go is louder. I have been working more with the Soundboks 3. I am going to do a side by side bluetooth Db comparison this week.

    • @shaneberckman
      @shaneberckman Рік тому +1

      @W. Weiss I have done a test between the s1pro and the Soundboks go and on bluetooth and at peak volume the Bose S1pro at 1meter is about 98 DB and peaks about 100 and the Soundboks go is about 106 DB and peaks a little over 108. The soundboks has more bass. I am very impressed with this speaker. With a mixer the Soundboks go would probably be a great single speaker because then you could use a microphone. Do get me wrong the Bose S1pro is still one of my favorites going true a sub 1 or sub 2 with the crossover because it becomes a defferant animal. LOL
      I would also love to compare the E verse 8 to the sound box go. I may have to kick out for 1. LOL they both sound great but that wide dispersion and crispy clean highs on that Bose just sounds so good.

      @@shaneberckman Your post is bad news! I thought I had all the gear I needed at this point but those Specs, now I want a Soundboks Go. 108dB peak is incredible for a battery speaker! Everse 8 is not as loud. That even beats the JBL MK2. Only the QSC CP8 at 110dB is better, but that's A/C only. Would love to see a pairing of the Go with the PB110. I assume PB will have a nicer midrange and better bass, where the Go would have a more PA like high end? Have you tried them together? Good video idea?

      @W. Weiss that is a good idea. I will have to try that.
