    Watts is an amplifier power designation and not the same as SPL, which is acoustical (Sound Pressure Level). So Watts can't fully express loudness or even distance from the source. Comparing electrical power to loudness levels are apples and oranges. That being said, more power "should" produce louder levels, if all of the acoustical elements are comparable. The EV only lists the "total" power as 1000W. That's a peak value. Whereas, JBL lists a peak of 1500W but lists a more realistic 400W RMS (continuous) specification. That feels a little more honest in marketing to me. So, their power ratings are very close for producing the same SPL. To give you an idea of how little that matters, to sense twice the loudness, you would need to multiply the Watts by 10 times. the EV would need to 10,000W peak to be twice as loud as the JBL.

      You are absolutely right! Watts vs SPL is a common misconception.

    I also just bought a 320 during black friday at best buy and paid roughly about what you did for it. I think it came out to about $420. That being said, that 520 is gna be $800!!!! I think the 320 is hella expensive at $600, but the 520 for $800 is insane!!! I am very happy with my 320 and what I paid for it. I dont see myself returning it, waiting for the 520 to come out, and then spend an additional $400 on top of what I paid for the 320. The 320 is an awesome speaker!!

    Great video, man! I have one question. Can you use the mixer of the Everse 8 after connecting it to a sub? I mean, can you connect 2 mics and one laptop via aux from on the Everse 8 and send the signal to the sub? Or do you need to connect the sub first and then the top?

    Plan to get an everse 8 bose s1 pro+ is great but you cant mix it well. Also i hate how the guitar sounds so tinny. Have you heard anything about LD Maui or LD Anny busker series? I am hearing positive things but no place has them to do a demo.

    • @WWeiss-nv5vz
      @WWeiss-nv5vz 2 дні тому

      I would stick with the Everse 8. Best EQ section to dial in your sound. I have the LD Maui 5. Rolled off high end, not in same league as EV.

      @WWeiss-nv5vz oh that's a shame. The way they describe themselves i thought they were top of the line. Would you also recommend an Ev 50m or 30m over the bose pro 16 and 32? Have you done the solar generator test with EVs or just the bose? Just debating on changing the systems eventually.

    Why would you be mad? Just get another 320 and it's gonna be better in every way than a single 520. More power, more battery life, and actual stereo mode that sounds infinitely better than a single speaker.

  • @supra-holic2897
    @supra-holic2897 4 дні тому

    Billiam William, I vote to send it back or else you are going to end up with both, because the one thing I know is "collectors are going to collect." Last year Mcdonalds monopoly pieces had 30% off on JBL*com. That may happen again in April-May making it really temping. You're mad because you are now going to get the 520, if you weren't you would have met the news with indifference. The 520 is interesting development, was expecting 720 but this has taken its price spot. With XLR now and unconfirmed pole mount, you have a PA top getting below 40hz with decent power which is attractive if you don't want to lug around a sub. Thanks for the breakdown chart sir!

  • @Robertas-u5l

    • @LukeR1M
      @LukeR1M 2 дні тому

      And that would be a bad advice. Two 320s are gonna be better than single 520. Returning 320 for 520 is honestly just a bait.

    Viewer comment: I have an Everse 8 and also Bose S1 Pro Plus. I 'had' the S1 Pro as well but the S1 Pro Plus has more features, a nice app and a nice selection of Tonematch settings. Back to the Everse 8, I compared the tonal quality of both Everse 8 and Bose S1 Pro Plus and the Bose was clearly a more pure, clear and open sound. That said, the Everse 8 has more power handling and does not run out of headroom as quickly as the Bose S1 Pro Plus. So overall, the Everse 8 is more capable. I like the app on the Everse 8 as well. All in all, it's a solid battery powered speaker that is light weight and out punches the Bose S1 Pro in my experience. But I do prefer the clarity and Projection of the Bose. They sound sweeter to me. Still, I can overload the Bose S1 Pro too easily and that can be a deal breaker.

    Hi Bill, I’m looking for advice on selecting a battery-powered speaker for in-car karaoke. My setup idea is to use the car’s audio system for music, while connecting the microphone to an external speaker for vocals. Could you recommend a portable speaker that’s loud, has good battery life, and would work well in this setup? Thanks for your help and great content!

    These are really good reviews. Thank you. I'm torn between the new camry or the new Prius. I've been a Prius guy since 2012 and was 100% going to get the new GEN until these new Camry's came out.

      I was also considering the Prius. Slightly better gas mpg and sportier looks. After buying the Camry I sat in the Prius back seat, HUGE difference! I also think the Camry is a heavier car which is safer. With that extra weight and width, Camry is smoother and quieter on the freeway. Camry comes with a spare tire which I also think is important.

      Really depends on your type of music. Heavy bass content will drain battery faster. Figure 4-6 hours, maybe more ???? on 600 watt EcoFlow Pro.

    I buy the JBL EON($500) the sound was good but if I increase the sound the light start clipping and wasn't to loud I go to the store and changed for the Mackie Thump Go 8 and the sound is loud and very good also the price $360 and battery was much better, I also buy the Everse 8 and really is amazing is the very loud of all and excellent sound! The Thump Go and the Everse 8 are the best, one for the price, battery duration and loud and the other because is better in everything! Also I have to add Mackie make the best Bags for speakers excellent in quality and good price!

      Agree, JBL clipping is very frustrating! Mackie Thump Go is great for the money but Everse 8 stands above all the rest!

    Sun visor: Toyota has used the plastic extension for over two decades. The one on my 2002 Camry still hasn't been broken, but I agree that it would be nicer if the entire visor pulled out. Prop rod vs hood struts: I've been through 3 sets of struts in 20 years because the pressurized gas doesn't last. Honda is also using the rod in most of their models.

      Pressurized gas is another expense to replace. Pro or con? On my 2002 Pontiac Firebird the gas struts that hold up the heavy glass rear window are shot!

      2025 Camry also comes with a spare. Buying the donut rim/tire is another expense other companies make you pay for.

    As far as the oil goes check out the channel of the lubricant engineer Lake Speed. He does not based on rumor but shows data because he’s only data driven as an engineer how that very thin oil actually is a new level of oil chemistry and protects very well. His channel is the Oil Geek. So new technologies in the New World my friend check it out you’ll feel a lot better lots of hard data in there look it up under the oil viscosity you’ll find his video one or two of them on this subject with laboratory breakdowns and oil analysis from cars using it.

    I am ambivalent but the fact is the Lexus 300 ES and 350 and all Lexus models have almost 2 times the weld points as a Toyota with the equivalent platform base. This makes for a much stronger stiffer structure less NVH all around. That combine with considerably more insulation and all glass is acoustic yes it is much quieter at speed in all conditions. But one would expect that was Lexus or any luxury brand.

    No manufacture in these times now does hood shocks outside of the luxury brands it’s not just Toyota. If you want gas struts go Mercedes or Lexus or BMW etc.

    Which PA would you recommend for playing rock/metal guitar with backing tracks?

    • @WWeiss-nv5vz
      @WWeiss-nv5vz 7 днів тому

      Really depends on your price range and weight limit. In the portable/battery PA speakers I focus on Everse 8 is my favorite. If you don't need internal battery QSC K12.2 or similar RCF line is #1
