    But how do they sound when the room is packed with dancing guests? In a room that’s completely empty, my PRX-One sound just as crisp and loud. Fill the room with guests and suddenly your SPLs drop like a stone off a cliff.

      @@chadnliz2k11 The prx one is mathematically more output! However, the build quality is better on rcf! The disadvantage is physics no speaker company has broken the fundamentals and prx one output drops because the column height isn’t high enough or adjustable which is why a packed dance floor will eat up the volume before you get to the back of the room and plastic bass cab has flex so it does lose some efficiency as volume goes up!

    Those are dope and honestly the only speaker I've been curious about in 2 years. I'm just skeptical of the bass, my gut says it'll be represented but just more one dimensional with no real throw for that bump. There is no replacement for displacement lol

    I bought a single TT515. Keeping it! Not happy, had to pay $100 for that little speaker pole adapter! The TT515 has incredible sound that is more Studio Monitor than PA! Best I have heard! The problem is there is a serious lack of midrange. Wondering if it will get fatiguing for a long wedding gig? 400 people will really be interesting? Besides the Hi-fi sound I don't see an upgrade from your J8 besides the much better bass. J8 128dB/TT515 127 dB J8 120 degree throw/TT515 100 degrees. I was able to clip- just red starting to show, the single TT515 at about 110dB. Really depends on the music playing. I would pack a single Pro32/Sub2 just in case:)

    Great video dude!
    1. Loudness, I always try to reach 90-95 db in the center of the dancefloor, I carry a dB meter. This also allows people to speak in the back still.
    2. Never heard about the TouchMix before, is it good? Do you still need a PA2 or similar to manage the PA?
    3. Do you delay the speaker in the room? Ideally you should point it backward where its below -10-15 db from the front, and it should be delayed to match the distance, so the audio reaches the ear at the same time, if you didnt already ofc, not mentioned here

    good review appreciate an actually measurement most people don't do that! now why going over 110 well that is very easy, measure at room full 100 people talking loudly a you may get about 90 db or more. now your measurement at the speaker is let say 110. standard point source box drops 6db every doubling of distance. so at 1 foot your at 110, 2 feet its 104, 4 feet 98, 8 feet 92 and so on! so on a 20 by 20 dane floor at the back of the dance your lucky to be at less than 90db! and that's a empty room. now add bodies that are in front of the speakers and high frequencies are absorbed. sub frequency not so much!. also distance isn't 2 demential so trim height of the tops play a roll! so in the room that your in the ideal situation would be having your speakers higher which then mean you can play louder but you've also increased the distance to the front of the dance floor (greater spl drop) more than at the back( less spL drop) of the dance floor thus creating more balance with just mains. so you maybe have your tops 120 db but a combination of height will have your speakers at 110 at the front of your dance floor and over 95 at the back meaning everyone hears music loud and no need for satellites and people who wanna chat are in the back of room and that drop off is enough for them. also height Is good to use when they put grandma up front except for subs not much your can do unless you wanna playing distance and sub arrays etc. which naw im good. also spl is not frequency specific high spl at 4k isn't the same as high spa at say 500hz which is very common in column arrays they lack those mid frequencies. it why a lot of column arrays you can't speak on the mic while playing loud your voice almost is lost cause your voice frequencies are lower due to the speakers frequency response. sorry if that doesn't make a lot of sense but check Michael Curtis here on YT he specialized in audio and his courses really help you understand sound design and how things work together.

    To do a real legitimate test, you have to test in a real actual environment. Your sound and demands will be entirely different when the room is full of people absorbing sound. Of course, in an empty room the sound may appear to be loud. It all depends how many people are in the room and the size of the room you are playing in. One sock does not fit all

    Aaron, how does the 808 compare vs the bose sub 2? I'm narrowing down my choice between the two. I need loud deep bass.

    • @AaronStrawn
      @AaronStrawn  Рік тому

      If you want deep loud bass, anything smaller than an 18" sub will let you down imo. I lean towards good sound and portability with doing over 60 events a year. I'm happy with the 808s. When I stack them with one 515 I'd say they def give you solid bass

I use j8 and qsc k8.2 and qsc ks112. I don't louder if same I am ok, just looking portability. Waiting for the next one video.

      I think if you want to have a top and sub and not go the column route, the size and power is worth it. I'll definitely have more of an opinion once I gig a bunch with them. For sure I will make videos!

  • @DayNNyteDJs
    @DayNNyteDJs Рік тому

    Can you try these with some "regular" subs? I have two relatively new 15" subs, but my top cabinets are getting older. I think a lot more DJs would buy the tops if they knew they could use them with what they already have. Convincing people to spend that much money for a whole new system is hard, but then trying to convince them 8" subs are sufficient... almost impossible.

    • @AaronStrawn
      @AaronStrawn  Рік тому

      Definitley. For fun I might hook them up to my Sub 2s just to hear it. I think the real magic is the 515 top. Having something that small and be so powerful is amazing. I opted for the 808 because of the size, look and I knew they were made for each other..in fact, I can't keep the 515s hands out of the 808s pants

      I went with the tts15 subs with the 515 tops and wow they rock! I was worried about the low bass (808) not being enough. (4) 808 with (2) 515 would be great but super expensive.

    I run a pair each of QSC K10.2 tops and KS118 subs for about 275 lbs total. But it's worth every ounce for me once they're fired up. I've not clipped any of them yet after nearly a year, even at outdoor wedding a couple weeks ago. Really fills up big, tall rooms. I'm 50 years old this May, but I roll these things and set them up anywhere. The footprint is actually not that bad considering what it is...less space than stands. Love the Aaron Neville...dude is one of my favorites. These specific RCF's are really interesting...

    Soooo.....spend $10K now or have bad surgery later. Hmmmmm...... Maybe one day. This really speaks to a lot of OG Bose customers (commercial and residential) who went with their products due to powerful sound in a small form. I agree that specs/numbers only matter so much. • @AaronStrawn
      @AaronStrawn  Рік тому +1

      I make the adjustment on the controller. If I'm clipping, I'll drop the gain down on the channel the song is on. Thats what I use the led lights for too- trying to match gains with the next mix so you don't blow peoples ears out when you drop Abba
