  • The fastest zero-turn mower I have ever seen. We bought a Ferris IS700Z from our good friend at Bob's Tractor Parts & Equipment in McEwen, TN. This mower is crazy fast mowing with ease at 9-10mph.

    I had a 60” belly mower on a few different tractors. Grabbed a Ferris 500S, mowed two times and immediately retired the belly mower. Looking to upgrade to the IS700Z now, for the suspension seat.

    I went from a 27 HUSKY ZT3400 where I had to slow down a lot to get a decent cut to a 3300 Ferris 40HP where I drive full stick everywhere suspension allows. It's saved a lot of time.

    Ferris mowers are made by Briggs & Stratton Power Products Group, an American company that bought the Ferris industry in 2004. Since then, Ferris mowers have been made in Munnsville, NY. However, recently, Ferris has been moved to Sherrill, NY to expand its production. Had to look them up, never heard of Ferris.

      I’ve had the Ferris isx 800 when it first came out. Mine came with no suspension seat and wish it did have it. My mower rides rough and it scalps my yards if I don’t watch how I come to a stop due to the dipping of the front end. It’s great on flat yards but not with yards that have an incline. I’ve had to adjust my suspension all the way up to prevent the dipping of the front end and rear when backing up due to the dipping also when reversing. I’ve also leveled my deck due to it was off when I first got my mower by one inch. I’ve had nothing but bad experience with my Ferris.

      @TonysTractorAdventure  Рік тому +1

      They are made on the same line. Not that it matters much, but the decks are heavier built on Ferris with commercial bearings. The IS700Z has more HP. The truth is, if I set on both of them with my eyes closed, I wouldn't know the difference. We don't mow commercially, so I don't think the deck would matter either.

    I have a Husqvarna EZ 5224, it has no suspension other than small springs on the seat. When your lower back is not doing so good you have to drive much slower so you are not in pain! It's 13 years old and things have started to wear out and break. I have been looking at the Ferris mowers and they look great! It takes me about 7 hours to do all the mowing around the house... Mowers these days have a HEAFTY price tag! But Ferris is still on the radar!

    Like you Tony, been using a 60" finish mower behind my tractor and have always wondered if using a same size zero turn would be faster? Just curious, how many other ZT's did you sit in and try before getting the Ferris? Creature comfort and ergonomics is a big part of my buying decision (which is why I bought the tractor I did) and if your butt's not comfy in the initial setting, it and your body mechanics are going to be screaming at you after a couple of hours. All that being said, would like to hear what you did NOT like about these mowers, especially if you do a comparison between the three. @3:35, GREAT picture of you two! That needs to be framed and on the wall.

    First wear a mask you may have inhaled an acre-foot of dust. The hill holding ability doesn't seem good. That may be because you are new with the machine but the front suspension seemed to make it want to go down hill. You were crabbing on what wasn't that steep of embankment. Also noticed what most multiblade zero turns do is it cuts all the grass but there are rows of grass that don't get cut quite as short as the rest. You will really notice it if you go through a tall grass field. You will enjoy the machine. Also get a small trailer for it. Amazing how much you will use it.

      I rarely ever wash mine, then when I do, it's because I got it stuck up in the mud and mud slung all over it. Then it's blown off real good with air hose, cranked and blades engaged and ran a few minutes, then left in sun to dry anything up before I store it in the garage. I always blow it off with air after each use, and regularly blow out the air filter from the inside out, and wash and re-oil the pre-filter. Bought new in 2007, and still runs and mows like new. I regularly check for any loose bolts, etc.. preventative maintenance goes a long way. Take care of it, and it will take care of you. Change oil and filter every 50 hours, with quality oil, and quality filter. After 18 years and over 600 hours, it's on its second drive belt, and still has original deck belt, and use his grease like Lucas red and tacky, and keep those zerks greased. Keep them bearings happy.
