I almost bought a 2020 TT 2 with 37 Vanguard 61" D for 6900 It has 1200 hours on it. The hours made me nervous, so I cancelled it last Tues. I still want the mower for the Farm though. Which engine have you found to be the best with Scag?
I agree. I have a 1997 Scag Tiger Cub with 21hp Kawasaki that I really don't know how many hours are on it. Bought used and did $1500 worth of updates on it like spindles. bearings and seals, oil leaks, tires/wheels. Even though I have a Cheetah now I can't bring myself to get ride of the TC.
I had a Snapper with the single joystick years ago. I has advantages like being able to operate one-handed. But there were disadvantages like being harder to keep both wheels moving while making turns. It was good for the time I had it but wouldn't go back to that now. The flip up deck concept definitely seems like an advantage tho.
I've had my ZD21 for nearly 24 years and it still runs great. I only have just over a thousand hours on it, so the engine has been trouble-free. If a tree should fall on it, I would buy a new current version.
Definitely need to include kubota - my zero turn diesel with 60 inch deck is a true workhorse that just “goes -goes-goes” . I use it on my farm cutting 6 acres of grass plus lot of rough fence line edges that I should use a tractor bush hog for - I added trailer hitch and it pulls a light trailer which often gets way to much weight for its rating but the kubota doesn’t seem to even notice. Service at dealer is top notch and they will send service truck out if requested - best of all when I sold the first kubota I owned I got more in resale than what I paid for it from a landscaper who was thrilled to get it - my replacement which is just a larger unit is 7 years, 3500 hours of trouble free operation, and still no hydraulic /engine or oil issues. I do change fluids more often than manual recommendation but so I spent an extra couple hundred dollars over the years - a small price compared to savings in trouble free operation. You definitely should add Kubota to your lists and also show prices for all the different machines
We just got a Kubota dealer in our town and Im on farmland etc. Is your Kubota Diesel or Gas? What model are you running now days? I'm thinking I will finally be a Kubota owner if they are offering a 7 year 3500 hour warranty. Ive been running a 1999 New Holland mc-35 AWD Front mower with a 74 inch deck.
I have a ZD 21 and the only problem was the deck ram seal went out and leaked fluid pretty bad. It wasn’t a cheep fix b/c the dealer said it wasn’t “resealable” so I had to get a entire new ram that lifts the deck. Other than like you said changing fluids is about the only thing I’ve done along with greasing spindles and the drive shaft. Still on the original deck belt too. I use it, don’t abuse it, but it’s been no garage Queen either she will take way more than I can give it that’s for sure.
I have a 2016 Dixie Chopper Silver Eagle with a 27 horse Kohler EFI and 60” deck that I bought new. In 7 years it has had nothing done to it except routine maintenance and still runs as good as the day I bought it. It’s a tank.
My ZD21 Kubota is 20 years old with only having the starter replaced and normal maintenance. I’m definitely very pleased with its reliability and performance.
Many years ago, one of the chief engineers of scag left,so I heard and started his own company called great dane. Bought one back in 2006 still using it today. 18 years. Not bad
I bought a Kioti last year. Been very happy with it so far. I looked at Spartan but Kioti had the suspension seat which also had a higher back which is more comfortable.
Warranty is the most important to me and you can’t beat Exmark in that category! I’ve broke parts around peak season and since it was a warranty repair I got to cut everyone and everything was free! I was back to making money quick!
I used to sell Exmark and no, Toro does not make them; Toro owns them but as a separate division. It would be hard to find a better built machine than Exmark but their distributors are killing off many satellite dealers.
Had a Scag and tested a new Scag while waiting for parts, machine overheated twice. Looked at Scag, Farris, Wright, Toro, JD and Bobcat. My local Scag dealer sucks. Bought a Bobcat ZT7000 and am very happy. Toro was a little bit of a let down for the price. Wright surprised me with an excellent machine but was being sold by the same scrappy Scag dealership. The dealership made the difference followed by quality of the machine, then price.
I have owned 2 front deck Kubotas and now a zero turn Kubota. All commercial models, diesel, extremely well built and dependable. Plus they are a lot cheaper than some of the other bigs brands. If you put them next to any of the others it’s a no brainer. I also own a John Deere 1600 Turbo wide area mower. Good mower but if Kubota made one comparable in cutting width to it I would buy it.
For sure Kubota and Gravely need to be added. I own a Ferris. Why? Suspension period. They all use the same hydraulics, engine and tire manufacturers. To me it came down to comfort. What I couldn't compare was the cutting ability. Speed is nice but you had better have razor sharp blades or the cut will look shaggy. I like ease of access to grease spindles etc.Choose your color, make sure you have dealer support for parts and maintain the unit. Every spring I inspect belts, change oil, change fuel filter, change air filters, clean battery terminals, change hydro oil and filters every 100 hours and grease everything that has a zerk fitting. Maintenance is the key regardless of make.
I second this - where is Gravely?? I've mowed my farm with a Gravely Pro Turn for 10 years. Built like a tank, fast, mowed great. I can’t imagine there is much better out there.
Cut a lot of grass for two municipalities in Louisiana,we ran Kabota and John Deer,I prefer the Kabota,as long as you did general maintenance on it you could run the crap out of it!Never overheated like the Deer, and down there that was a plus.
My 5yr old ExMark 52" has been a great mower. Zero issues & I cut over 5 acres twice a month.. I could use a larger deck but this one does the job very well for $6k Kohler, not the Kawasaki which I wanted but they didn't have.
@@sethparker4012 pretty close, but not quite as good. Exmark cut is hard to beat and stripes well. The air fx deck on the bobcat is a bullnose similar to scag. You can’t go wrong with either one!
Have had my JD 997 for 11 years and it has proven to be a great asset. It is used to not only mow 6 acres of grass but it is used to clip our pasture fields. The Yanmar Diesel engine has proved to be quite a workhorse and with regular upkeep has proven to be quite trouble free. Also since it is a diesel it fits right in with all of the other farm equipment drawing fuel from just one bulk tank.
I had a hustler zero turn with front suspension i found that if i was in a hurry and stopped too fast or turned too hard the suspension would give and that made the deck scalp the lawn i put solid front spindles back on and problem was gone.
Yeah, I've seen that problem before. Ferris mowers used to do the same thing but their new ISX suspension is MUCH better. Maybe check them out. Or Wright ZXT rides really good and won't have this problem. Hustler also has a new X-Ride that has a suspension platform, it's nice as well.
What about the Stihl 972i? It’s basically a Ferris 3300 (?). Vanguard 40hp, lights, weight adjustable seats, major suspension system for comfort, etc. Same as the big Ferris, but with a few more standard bells and whistles. It’s even made in the same plant as the Ferris.
Yes, they are the same. I’ll be making a video about them. Not really any point in having two of the same mowers on this list… also found that stihl is usually more expensive and dealer support (on the mower side, not handheld) isn’t very good.
I worked at a Stihl dealer - the zero turn roll out was not well planned. Word inside the industry is that Briggs & Stratton who owns Ferris, Simplicity, Snapper and the Murray name (since 2005) may end up being partially or wholly owned by Stihl soon. B&S was bought in 2020 by an investment group that reorganized the company into separate divisions one of which is turf. Also we hear that Snapper and Simplicity are going away. Husqvarna had been building Snapper units sold by retailers like Walmart. Seeing new Murray units in box stores; not informed who is building them.
Bad Boy Outlaw XP bought in 2016 to keep my 3 acres under control. I regularly mow 3 of my neighbors places also. Only thing I added was a bunch of lights so I can mow after dark during the hottest part of the summer months. Just routine maintenance, zero problems. 🫡
Just saw this, they didn't even mention an Encore mower. They are monsters. I have had 1 for the past 22 years and with just regular maintenance hasn't been down ever. I retired 2 years ago and started helping a few people in my neighborhood that can't take care of their lawns anymore. I cut five yards a week for the last 2 years and it still hasn't let me down.
Maybe service and parts are good in YOUR region….but Deere uses a host of proprietary parts; where aftermarket supplies are far more common in my region and many others.
I have a Kubota ZD331 and a newer ZD1211 with 60" decks. They are beast and are built like tanks with lots of diesel torque . They get used and abused and never fail to deliver . Good dealer service ( in my area anyway ) While all these are fine I'm sure . Can't believe the Kubota ZD's aren't at least on the list.
Yep. I bought a new Grasshopper in 2006 for my personal 3-acre lawn. I also haul it to another state 5-10 times a year to mow 10 very rough acres. Has over 1400 hours and never been in the shop. Belts, oil/filters, grease, batteries, blades replaced as needed.
I’d agree with all of this. Grasshopper is extremely reliable, they last forever. Not a fan of the deck design and cut though. Just depends what matters to you the most
I run a 2024 Bad BOY Rogue mower. It is a beast ! Quater inch decking , the seat suspension and the puck suspension makes for a very nice ride. Would highly recommend, I have the Kawasaki motor believe its 38 hp.
I’ve owned a Bad Boy now for 2 years. I went with them because they have the thickest deck in the industry. They are USA made. Bad Boy will outperform all of these mowers hands down. You will not regret this purchase.
Bought a Bad Boy Outlaw Xp in 2016. Heavy built frame, good suspension, Kawasaki power and a great seat. I added lights all around so I can mow at night when it’s too hot during the day. I mow 3 other neighbors yards plus mine totaling about 3 acres. Zero issues just doing routine maintenance. I recommend them highly.🫡
my employer runs a fleet of JD 950R ztracs there great machines if maintenance is kept up on. i run a tweel version everyday mowing utility right of ways and it hardly bogs down at all.
I agree Kubota should definitely be on the list. Another mower I use to own but the company is no longer in business is the Everride Warrior that thing was built like a tank and went through high grass better than any mower I've ever seen. I've been told that Gravely makes a similar machine nowadays..
@@keithHarmon2057 well that is in my opinion because I have had some bad experiences with badboy there was a wire going to the carburetor and it always caught fire so……..I got rid of it
@Walkermowerman thanks I was only asking. I have a badboy. Have used it for 10 years. Cut 30 Acres a week. It now has a bad main bearing. Looking at buying a new one. Not sure witch Brand yet.
We love our Turf Tigers. They’re heavy, so use accordingly. Get out of that seat and get behind a walk behind when you need to. Just because we can mow a steep bank with a zero, doesn't mean we should. I see all those ruts out there.
All good mowers, i have 5 exmark lazer z,s 4 60” 1 52”, great mowers, Kubota diesel might be in my future, wish I bought the the exmarks with diesel engines, ☹️
I started with hustler fast trak - fast little machine cut good a lot of mower for the money…then scag tiger cub tough durable trouble free but rode like a bucking bull and cut like bailing hay- then lazer z e ; good cut quality and well built…. Last year Deere 950m ahhhhh smooth operation and riding The best cut quality period
The newer fuel injected Hustler has a lot of problems such as, trottle body sensor, after a few hours or beginner use has air intake and gas sucking issues. If bought outaide of the states have problems finding parts or sourcing parts from dealers or even being able to contacting dealers. I know this for a fact because i have used both the fuel injected and the choke version in my dsily work literally evwry day at present. The choke version which is the older model is superior working choice and doesnt break down as easily and takes a licking. I have used it in very harsh conditions like on a sugarcane field tuened lawn, it is a beast.
remember that Cub Cadet steering wheel zero turns are also good, with the idea of having 4 wheel steering and can go on hillsides easier and are easier to operate, knowing that there is no lap bars, and doesnt have such a tank like feeling and everyone knows how to use a steering wheel.
Hi - I have a zd326 with 60 inch deck - Kubota has a good number of selections and have a 72 inch deck size ( likely on the next size up) sorry re warranty it wasn’t 3500 hr - I was trying to say it has been bulletproof with no issues -just the scheduled normal maintenance - we have a good dealer but Im in SW Ontario so I suggest you talk directly with your local dealer - he can give you guidance for what is best for your needs -
Thanks for leaving the homeowner look-alike’s off the list. Husquvarna, Bad Boy, Cub Cadet, Kubota, Kountry Klipper and the like. I would point out that Scag and Toro are the only ZTR’s with roller bearing spindles in a cast steel housing. But it’s surprising how long sealed roller bearing spindles will last. If you don’t hit stuff. Grasshopper and Walker are good mowers too. They’re just not in this category. Neither are the wide area mowers. Like Toro Groundsmaster, Howard Price, Rainsomes Bobcat. etc.
I’ve own a lot of these my favorite is my jd 997. Easy maintenance, large hydraulic reserve. My wife loves her Scag turf tigers, Toro is nice for the price of replacement parts, seem to lack traction on hills. Hustle was a pain to work on.Ferris was a tank but hard to work on and part were pricey. Kubota was the worst, failed drives, ridiculous prices for everything! Would never go near one again. I’m not a landscaper mower , just a homeowner with alot of land that hates mowing so I only buy commercial mowers
I am still using my 2009 Kubota ZD331 72" cut and the wife uses a LX with 60" belly mower. We can cut our 11 acre yard in 3 hours. The ZD runs circles around the compact tractor, but I would not want to deal with gasoline storage as we also have other Kubota diesel equipment and have a 500 gallon diesel skid tank. How would you store the gasoline if you are. cutting 11 acres every 5-7 days? Also the ZD sips the fuel. So can only be diesel for me! On a side note just found out they can no longer sell anything over 25 HP without needing to have the EPA mandated DPF emissions crap, I need to keep mine going!
My kubota zd326s outperforms all of these. Diesel is way more efficent. And with the wet clutch and pto shaft out of transmission to run deck. Its unbeatable. Has 1 belt that is double the width of all these standard mowers. Your buying a zero turn tractor at that point. Maintance is effortless. You cant kill those 26hp kubota diesels.
Get Ferris 3300 ,toro with my ride suspension , stand on will hurt knees, neck , also harder on hands , I’ve been mowing 45 years , if customer has roots, ruts, rocks, kids toys, dog poop, chain link fence, dangerous parking, slippery hill, big wet area all the time, tons of weeding, do not take the job ! There is always another one ,if they demand Friday cut 15%extra on regular cut price if they ask why you say if it rains I’ll have cut on my day off
I'm partial to Scag, I've seen the 1st gen Turf Tiger go about 4K hours and still climbing. But I don't know they are putting the same level quality out now that they did 5-10 years ago.
@lawngrowth I've had the Grasshopper and now have a Graveley Pro Turn 660. The Grasshopper is hands down a better mower than the Gravely, I can't tell the difference in the cut, deck, or striping. But the mechanicals on the 329 were night and day better. In fact the Gravely tried to kill me apparently the parking brake became mal- adjusted and engaged the left control stick into reverse. When I throttled up and thought to turn the brake off it started spinning backward violently.
So my question is why there are so many big horsepower engine options. First of all, that's only half the equation because toque has a lot to do with how the mower will perform. I got out of the commercial mowing business years ago but still like to mow a few lawns and tinker with equipment. Currently I am "rehabbing" 2 Toro ZMaster 587L machines and one of its Laser Z cousins. The Toros have 27hp and the Exmark is 22hp but I see little difference in performance when it comes to mowing heavy grass. They all power through just fine. My one ZMaster has 12cc pumps and will move quite a bit faster than the Exmark with 10cc pumps, but there could be other variables I'm not considering, And honestly, you can only mow so fast on most yards due to size and terrain constraints. I can't wait to get my other ZMaster together to see how it compares to its brother and cousin. I got it with a broken wheel motor which I replaced and now am waiting on the rebuilt pump to be ready so I can get it all back together.
Sorry, trying to help here. Your first bookmark says Stihl Turf Tiger 2. :) Thought that was a SCAG? You state the Hustler is one of the fastest zero-turns on the market, it only does 14mph. I know of many more mowers that easily surpass that, one Cheetah II does 16mph, Bobcat does 19mph... etc. but I agree with you on the JDs :)
Thanks for letting me know! I fixed the bookmarks... didn't know I could do that lol. Regarding speed, true. I was talking about cutting speed. On the mowers you mentioned I think those speeds are in transport mode.
Welcome! Transport or mowing at 16mph is doable if you have flat ground. I have a suspension seat on mine so I can mow full speed if I wanted too :) don’t know if I would want too though :)
Kubota being left off this list is a joke. Ive been mowing commercially for 30 years. I’ve had Dixies, John Deere, Exmarks, Scags Grasshoppers and Kubotas. Kubota outperforms them all and for reliability and longevity they’re is no comparison. I have a 2008 ZD326 Diesel that has 4300 hours on it and other than normal maintenance and new tires it has been a great mower. I have a 2013 same mower with 3400 hours in it and the same goes for it. I just recently purchased 2 48 inch stand in’s and so far so good. I perform maintenance in regular intervals and they look brand new. Even the 2008. In a one man operation for the most part and I don’t abuse my equipment. These mowers have made me a lot of money. I do have 2 Dixie’s that I use during the rainy season because you can cut grass during a torrential downpour and the cut quality looks like you mowed it dry. They’re also lighter weight and won’t rut the yards when they’re wet. Bad thing about Dixie’s are they are built for speed so they’re lightweight but don’t hold up as well. Bad thing about my Kubota diesels are they are heavy as a tank and it’s hard to not leave a divot on wet grass or grass that doesn’t have a thick root system. My 48 inch stand ons are what I bought to replace my Dixie’s when they finally go to the scrap yard. Kubota should have been either number 1 or 2 on this list. Ferris is probably number 1 but you can’t afford them and they can’t cut wet grass or the chute and deck get clogged.
The kubotas I’ve been around are better than all listed for sure. I do love my scag though it’s kinda like a glove at this point and for that reason I would stay with what I have. Kuboto is an absolute stud any of them actually
@@rossweaver2128 all the mowers listed are very good . Like most people when you’ve use to a brand for years you always lean towards it . For me it’s Kubota diesels . The suspension on the Ferris seems very cool . Scag and exmark have always peaked my interest too…..👍
Original commenter cheers 4 that info bro ..u took time to write that and twas informative ..esspecially the weight /rut scenario i appreciate it as im going to buy my first zero turn ... looking at commercial kubota bobcat or toro ... not sure yet wanna spend about 6k .
I've got a WALKER and have owned it for 16 years. Here is what I have done to it other than wash/polish, annual oil changes, blade changeouts every three or four years and sharpening...NOTHING! Still on the original battery. The best element of my 48" Walker unit is the small control sticks between my legs that require only one hand (wrist control) Oops, forgot broke two shear pins.
Thanks for the video know for my 2 sense. I was looking to replace my 2004 Ferris IS5000 with the Cat 33HP engine. I still cuts well, runs good, I guess I was just trying to upgrade, wanted something different. So my local Wright rep brought me a ZXT to demo. I have to say thing only thing it did better than my 20 year old mower was stripping, and that's because it was a side discharge and my Ferris is a rear discharge. As far as on concrete the Wright is a little faster, but even with their suspension platform it cannot mow at the same speed as the Ferris. Mostly because of the short wheel base of the Wright it is very bouncy and loses traction on hills at higher speeds. I am not saying it is not a great mower, just not any better than my Ferris.
Have a snapper , 52 in cut paid 800 for it seven yrs ago,has a Kohler command and 4230 hrs and cuts just fine. Not the best but, does the job. It joystick steering!!! Don h
When I worked for commercial company they tried out John Deere but their leaf vac’s were terrible and they had a lot more problems after the 2nd and 3rd year of use as opposed to the exmarks. Granted this was 5 yrs ago so they could have easily improved since then. Hands down the worst thing about was the leaf vac, everybody would get pissed if they got sent out with a John Deere for leaf removals.
I have over 10000 hours xp on Exmark. I do have a few hundred hours on scag from a tiny one that I think was 42 inches to the 61 inch turf tiger and cheetah. My opinion of the scag is mixed I'm in CT we have very thick lush lawns that can grow 6-12 inches a week in May. The scag power was excellent. Speed was excellent the cheetah could do 16 mph that was insane you couldn't cut that speed but on a street getting back to the trailer omg was that fun. The controls are extremely tight and responsive. Fuel consumption was abysmal over 2 gallons an hour. (I get a little over an 1.1 gallons an hour with my 38 hp kohler red tech exmarks with 60 and 72 inch decks) Last time I had an extended scag demo some 2 weeks I had one that had 2 tanks 7.5 gallons a side. It would kill an entire tank in 4 hours or less I was use to getting 5 gallons for the entire day from exmark so that was a serious issue. The other issue I do not agree with is the so called quality of cut. Scag leaves a mediocre finish cut that your be going over 3-4 times here to make it presentable. The massive 2 foot wide discharge sides are doing it no favors and the grass lengths are way to long to disperse.
@@ericpigg2689 Eric, I’ve been completely abusing my 61 rebel in 6 foot high up here in North Georgia. Thousand cc Kawasaki 4400 gears completely commercial.

One man’s opinion and wouldn’t find anyone else that would match your choices. Interesting video and thanks for sharing. I wish I had one of each.
The Scag Turf Tiger II and the Wright ZXT are both excellent mowers!
The thing that I noticed was that the John Deere left uncut grass whereas all the other mowers seemed to cut all the stalks.
Kubota is on the best diesel video. Gravely, I'm not a fan of the suspension platform on the PT600... otherwise they make great mowers.
I’ve mowed commercially since 1992 and I’ve never found a better mower then grasshoppers I run 725D with 61” power fold decks
Might as well just go up one level and get the Ventrac 4520. Solves lots of problems...
I do love Grasshopper!
They are the best in my opinion!.
Amen, Grasshoppers are the Cadillac and the Mack rolled into one.
Another Grasshopper fan here. Ran a 322D for 5 years, sold to a friend and bought a 325D with suspension seat. Stylin !!
I have used the Grasshopper front cut and they have been great.
Cut a lot of grass for two municipalities in Louisiana,we ran Kabota and John Deer,I prefer the Kabota,as long as you did general maintenance on it you could run the crap out of it!Never overheated like the Deer, and down there that was a plus.
I’m a Kubota guy too.
@@KevinRogers-c4r me too for years........can't believe their not on the list
My 5yr old ExMark 52" has been a great mower. Zero issues & I cut over 5 acres twice a month..
I could use a larger deck but this one does the job very well for $6k
Kohler, not the Kawasaki which I wanted but they didn't have.
Exmark lazer z x series 60 inch fx801v with tractus wheels and bobcat zt7000 fx1000v is my choice👍
Agreed! And the zt 7000 has been growing on me. It’s a sweet mower
Does the bobcat cut as good/ clean as the exmark?
I had a hustler zero turn with front suspension i found that if i was in a hurry and stopped too fast or turned too hard the suspension would give and that made the deck scalp the lawn
i put solid front spindles back on and problem was gone.
Look into Country Clipper's articulating front axle. Joystick drive, and a deck that can lift to near-vertical.
Love my Scags!
They’re great
Scag is the best period. They can junk the rest.
@@normanrogers826 Scag is good, but I prefer my Ferris. Fast, smoother ride and great cut quality.

Do you need to go to a carnival to get your Ferris Wheels?
A spreadsheet or table breaking down the scoring criteria by model would be quite useful.
I’ll work on making this.
I agree on this!
Dealer support is the most important factor! Got a Toro 6000 and it’s a tank.
Agreed!
Bad Boy Outlaw XP bought in 2016 to keep my 3 acres under control. I regularly mow 3 of my neighbors places also. Only thing I added was a bunch of lights so I can mow after dark during the hottest part of the summer months. Just routine maintenance, zero problems. 🫡
Nice! Thanks for sharing
Great to hear it’s done well for you!
John Deere also has hydraulic lift deck and cross porting hydros. Also very easy to service and get parts.
True. Hydraulic lift deck I’ve never really found useful, but I see how it could be for some.
Maybe service and parts are good in YOUR region….but Deere uses a host of proprietary parts; where aftermarket supplies are far more common in my region and many others.
I run a 62 inch gravey and u can have all of them u talking plus the 35 hp is something to reckon with
Love SCAG
Exmark for the win. Hands down the best mower on the planet.
I have a Kubota ZD331 and a newer ZD1211 with 60" decks. They are beast and are built like tanks with lots of diesel torque . They get used and abused and never fail to deliver . Good dealer service ( in my area anyway )
While all these are fine I'm sure . Can't believe the Kubota ZD's aren't at least on the list.
I think you might have for got Gravely . The most mower for your money hands down. Tons of commercial mower choices.
We have the Spartan pro, and love it🇺🇸
Grasshopper. Excellent mower, with excellent dealer network in my area.
Terrible striping and cut
Just depends what matters to you the most
Just get a Ventrac 4520 and it can do the job of multiple machines.
Whats everyone opinions on Bad Boy riders? Love to know before i buy one
They’re pretty good! And their dealer network has grown a lot
Love Mine! Build quality 2nd to none, super easy maintenance!
Got 1991 725 John deere front 54 in deck and 90 model 265 54 in deck. Strong 🚜
Nice!
my employer runs a fleet of JD 950R ztracs there great machines if maintenance is kept up on. i run a tweel version everyday mowing utility right of ways and it hardly bogs down at all.
Kubota, badboy, and grasshopper should be one list.
I agree Kubota should definitely be on the list.
Another mower I use to own but the company is no longer in business is the Everride Warrior that thing was built like a tank and went through high grass better than any mower I've ever seen. I've been told that Gravely makes a similar machine nowadays..
Not bad boy
@Walkermowerman what's wrong with badboy ?
Yessir!
All good mowers, i have 5 exmark lazer z,s 4 60” 1 52”, great mowers, Kubota diesel might be in my future, wish I bought the the exmarks with diesel engines, ☹️
Good choice! Kubota diesels are incredible
Hi - I have a zd326 with 60 inch deck - Kubota has a good number of selections and have a 72 inch deck size ( likely on the next size up) sorry re warranty it wasn’t 3500 hr - I was trying to say it has been bulletproof with no issues -just the scheduled normal maintenance - we have a good dealer but Im in SW Ontario so I suggest you talk directly with your local dealer - he can give you guidance for what is best for your needs -
Kubota. No debate.
Like Toro Groundsmaster, Howard Price, Rainsomes Bobcat. etc.
No problem, and thanks for your input! That’s good info
You are right about Grasshopper not being in that category. They are way beyond it.
Kubota is far from a "home owner look alike" ........I'll put my Kubota's up against anything you have in all the categories.
I’ve own a lot of these my favorite is my jd 997. Easy maintenance, large hydraulic reserve. My wife loves her Scag turf tigers, Toro is nice for the price of replacement parts, seem to lack traction on hills. Hustle was a pain to work on.Ferris
was a tank but hard to work on and part were pricey. Kubota was the worst, failed drives, ridiculous prices for everything! Would never go near one again. I’m not a landscaper mower , just a homeowner with alot of land that hates mowing so I only buy commercial mowers
Great insights! Thanks for sharing
Awesome info
Hustler Hyperdrive 72 is a beast and quick and cuts well. Or the John Deere 960M
Nice! Those kubota diesels are solid. And yes, that is true about the tier 4 emission restrictions.
Love my Z master!
Spartan mowers hands down the best
My kubota zd326s outperforms all of these. Diesel is way more efficent. And with the wet clutch and pto shaft out of transmission to run deck. Its unbeatable. Has 1 belt that is double the width of all these standard mowers. Your buying a zero turn tractor at that point. Maintance is effortless. You cant kill those 26hp kubota diesels.
Amen, i have a grasshopper with a 28 horsepower kubota 3 cylinder diesel, you are correct
I had a Toro ZMaster diesel and wish I hadn't sold it. Did great on fuel but it was definitely a heavy beast on soft lawns.
They are the cream of the crop but out of the budget for a lot of people. Even though a worthy investment.
Thank you for the video. Blessings to you.
Are the stand up mowers easiest on the spine ? Or is a suspension platform zero turn batter ?
Yes, standing in general is better on the spine. Suspension/suspension platform are just better than fixed frame ZTRs
There is always another one ,if they demand Friday cut 15%extra on regular cut price if they ask why you say if it rains I’ll have cut on my day off
I have a 26 year old Bobcat/Skycat, simple, easy-to-use, and very heavy duty
I'm partial to Scag, I've seen the 1st gen Turf Tiger go about 4K hours and still climbing. But I don't know they are putting the same level quality out now that they did 5-10 years ago.
FERRIS TUFF AS NAILS, SUPER SPRING SUSPENSION NICE TO RIDE, FLOATING DECK AVAILABLE!! LOVE MINE!!!
Love JD ! Hadn't been in business 100 years for NO Reason ! 😁👍
Solid mowers
How do you not have a Grasshopper 329B on here I'll never know!!
Not a fan of the deck, cut, and striping. But they do last forever
I'll take my bad boy rogue over any of them. Great mower and great Suspension
Well done video what's there was a matrix chart of the end of the video as comparison sheet
What about bobcat? They have to be great if they’re anything like their skid loaders
What about Walker from Fort Collins, CO?
Great mowers! Just a bit more of a speciality mower.
I prefer the country clipper. Thanks
Wright 40 hp ZXT is a beast!
Absolutely!
I got it with a broken wheel motor which I replaced and now am waiting on the rebuilt pump to be ready so I can get it all back together.
scag hands down ❤
Sorry, trying to help here.
Truth !
Scag and exmark have always peaked my interest too…..👍
Agreed. Kubota is my upmost favorite brand there a Japanese brand. And I drive a Toyota have had the best luck with Japanese 😂 so that’s probably why.

What about the kubota 78i
Would like to see a Altoz review!
Coming soon!
I am not saying it is not a great mower, just not any better than my Ferris.
spelling. it matters.
👍😂

Excellent review. Thanks.
Notice all reviews fail to mention Scan diesel engines. Have they stopped Diesel engines?
Well... you left out the Cub Cadet, ;)
Have the cub cadet with steering wheel can't be beet with hill side mowing
For a very good reason.
Where is Bad Boy ? Crazy
These are commercial mowers. You do not see bad boys on trailers where men are using them to earn a living for good reason.
